Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, 44, started feeling sick late Wednesday, shortly after getting back to Canada from a London speaking engagement, officials said in a statement.
The country’s 48-year-old leader is joining his wife in self-isolating at home as they await results to her coronavirus test, the statement said.
The PM is showing no symptoms himself and will continue holding meetings about the response to coronavirus — just “virtual meetings” or by phone rather than face-to-face, the statement said.
“The doctor’s advice to the Prime Minister is to continue daily activities while self-monitoring, given he is exhibiting no symptoms himself,” the statement said.
“However, out of an abundance of caution, the Prime Minister is opting to self-isolate and work from home until receiving Sophie’s results,” it said.

Ezzeldin Bahader needs to play two full games to qualify as an entry in the Guinness World Records book.
He started in impressive fashion, playing a full 90 minutes despite injury on Saturday for the October 6 team in the third tier of Egyptian football.
The father of four and grandfather of six scored from the penalty spot, whereupon he was mobbed by team-mates, as October 6 drew 1-1 with rivals Genius.
"I became the oldest professional footballer scoring a goal in an official game," he said afterwards.
"This is something that was achieved in the last minute of the game that I thought I wouldn't achieve. I was injured and all what I hoped for was to continue for the full 90 minutes and play the next game."
After the match, the youthful-looking Bahader posed for pictures with members of the opposition.
He must now play another full 90 minutes in a second game, which is due to take place on 21 March, to be officially recognised as the world's oldest footballer by Guinness World Records.
The existing record is claimed by Israel's Isaak Hayik, who was 73 years and 95 days old when he played in goal last year for lower-tier Israeli side Ironi Or Yehuda.

Sundan's prime minister survived an assassination attempt as he traveled in a convoy through the capital of Khartoum on Monday morning. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack on Abdalla Hamdok, who has held Sudan's top civilian position since last August.

Russia rejected a proposal by OPEC to cut 1.5 million barrels per day of production. In response, Saudi Arabia not only cut its forward crude price to Chinese customers by as much as $6 or $7 per barrel, but is also reportedly looking to raise its daily crude output by as many as 2 million barrels. The move by the Saudis is both a market share grab and a loud signal to Moscow that it's done playing games. American oil and gas workers and investors are caught in the middle of this epic ego battle.
The dramatic action is in response to a contentious, and ultimately failed, OPEC meeting in Austria on Friday. OPEC members laid out a proposal to further cut oil output quotas by as much as 1.5 million barrels per day.
OPEC itself was aligned on the deal, but non-OPEC member Russia said "nyet," effectively killing it. A source inside the negotiations tells me that as the two sides worked out production cut plans, in the end the "red lines weren't even close." Travellers from the virus hotspots of South Korea, Japan, Iran and Italy arriving in the capital will have to be isolated, a Beijing official has said.

Authorities are worried the virus might be imported back into the country.
Although most virus deaths have been in China, Monday saw nine times more new infections outside China than in.
Shanghai said it would require new arrivals from countries with "relatively serious virus conditions" to be isolated, without naming the countries. Authorities are also asking overseas Chinese to reconsider travel plans.
