Politics › Re: Fuel Subsidy Removal: How To Become Rich From It by PapaGfad: 8:04am On Apr 24, 2023 |
To effectively answer this, we need to first streamline the main areas that will be affected. And without doubt, TRANSPORTATION will be the first sector to take the hit, thereafter a chain reaction across all sector including the oppurtunistic nature of Nigerians.
One major venture that I believe will help anyone become rich as a result of d fuel subsidy removal, is urban farming. Or maybe I should say backyard farming in the cities. However, this must be well managed.
Transporting food from the rural areas will certainly influence d cost of buying them but with systemised backyard farmers in the cities who may not need to transport their produce before sales, the oppurtunity seems huge. |
Car Talk › Driving In Nigeria: Share Your Experience. by PapaGfad(op): 10:13am On Mar 27, 2023 |
I am a very young driver of just 13years + and recently I encountered a supposed professional (who I would rather call a confused person) whose driving ethics leaves me wondering if we can really have such in Nigeria.
Pls understand that I am not in anyway disputing what is proper or that should be properly done. I am only saying that within the context of Nigerian road users, can we really apply these rules heartily?
For instance, as a driver can you afford to stay dogmatically behind another unpredictable road user, without violating lane maintenance? Without switching from lane to lane as often as may be required? Can you attempt to close gaps with other vehicles in traffic without some elements of craze? Inshort, can you drive as a normal person and achieve the results of a guerilla driver?
Maybe there is something I am missing...pls tutor me.
Meanwhile, here is my own view. It is important to understand road management and adhere strictly to traffic laws as a professional driver but here in Nigeria, balancing these knowledge with responding effectively to other unpredictable road users is more important.
What do you think? |

Car Talk › Re: I Went To Driving School Today And I'm Really Giving Up. by PapaGfad: 9:00pm On Feb 08, 2023 |
AutoManual: I went to driving school today and meant with the guys there. I told them I want to learn manual. Even when some of them was telling me manual is fading out that majority of people are preferring to learn auto and they said some people who learn manual also came back to learn auto.
My reason was that if I can learn manual I can learn automatic, because I have heard that from people, I choose 5 days learning and they said 30minus & 1 hour has different prices, but I choose the 5 days 30 minutes, although I bargain the price. I filled the form and the driving session started.
Few minutes that we started I already giving up, I feel like not learning again. My concentration was not even there it was tidius to remember all this I need to do. Because I was forgetting all the things the guy told me before we started.
Here are my problem. 1. Understanding the pendel. Little press the car if jecking. When I applied brake it stop sudden and the vehicle will off abruptly. 2. Losing focus and what to do when I'm tens specially when I am approaching junction or a big car. 3. I am more concerned with the cars at my back or around me because I was moving slowly. The guy keep telling me to forget about them and focus on my side. Is document I filled said I will be the one to pay for damages incurred during the session. 3, knowing how and when to change the gear. I haven't mastered it and I feel it's too hard with the calculations. When I was filling the form there was some disclaimer on the document that I will be held responsible for any damages. I also learnt that the break is sometimes press. It was then I understand that the guy can press the brake from his own side of the car. Although I didn't tell him but I know.
Handling the wheel. To make a turn accurately on the road or control the wheel is really off.
Look like driving is really hard with manual
I was saving and planing to buy a Nigeria use car and I was focusing on manual because I heard people saying it easy to maintain but right now with the look of things I don't think I can buy manual again oh.
The two things I thought today while on the wheel is to buy auto and a small car.
Tomorrow I will go there again to learn and keep this thread updated. The only person I can blame here is your instructor... He shouldn't have burgled you with too much info. |

Romance › Re: Is Giving Head Inportant In Marriage? by PapaGfad: 10:33pm On Dec 15, 2022 |
Communication is key in marriage. You and your spouse should be very comfortable to talk and talk about your sexual needs and fantasies. Whatever your conclusions or agreement is what is acceptable.
I do not mind the backlash, so, I tell this, no matter how good you are in bed before marriage, when you marry and as you grow in that marriage, the reality of sex changes. It is inevitable!
This is why I pity d sexually active gen z generation. Many of them will have difficulties keeping potential homes together. I do not curse, it is what I have seen but I hope the divine intervenes. |
Family › Sex Education:how Long Will This Deceit Continue? by PapaGfad(op): 7:37am On Nov 11, 2022 |
Parents in Nigeria, especially those who have kids in Primary and Secondary schools, for how long will you continue to deceive yourselves that your children are 'angels'?!
It is time we faced the reality and protect the innocence of these beautiful souls by sex educating them ourselves.
Better don't wait for any leader to do something about that neither should you expect school managements to be thorough...fight for and protect your kids by equipping them yourself.
You already know how devious the world works, these young chaps don't know. They still live in fantasies.
Please don't leave your children vulnerable to other children from very toxic homes where anything goes.
Train them, teach them to know the difference and to be resistance of peer influence. Never underestimate the power of peer pressure because even many adults still fall victim.
Sex educate your children and present yourself accommodating enough so that they can share their curiousities with you.
I hope you will consider this in good conscience.
Gracias. |

kunle1004: I used a Kia cerato bought brand new in 2014. It was a 1.6L engine and the fuel economy was great. Used the car for only 3 years though as it was only ok for intra city runs. The 1st time I took it from Lagos to Ibadan, almost had an accident while trying to overtake a trailer as it refused to gain speed when I floored the throttle. Just revved loudly as if the gear was in neutral and I had to humbly fall back behind the trailer to avoid an oncoming truck. Decided to just use it for office runs within Lagos and stuck with my older 2011 Jetta for my Ibadan trips. In 2017, i noticed the steering started vibrating seriously when braking. Apparently the steering rack was the cause and at the time replacing it was going to cost 350k. That was the final straw for me so sold it while making a silent promise never to buy a Kia until I get assurances their cars have improved. Still waiting… Wow. This is so eye opening. Thank you for your submission. |
Autos › Reviews On KIA Automobiles by PapaGfad(op): 5:46pm On Nov 02, 2022 |
I have been doing some research on Kia vehicles and I realized from several threads on this platform that there are no recent reviews on the product.
Therefore, if you currently use or have used a Kia product, kindly help in dropping a review that could help somebody. While doing that, kindly indicate the model and year you have had experience with.
Is Kia still a substandard vehicle? How about its fuel consumption? Are the spare parts now easily available? Cost of maintenance.
Thank you. |

Family › Re: Advice On How To Get A Car: Loan Or Savings? by PapaGfad: 10:00pm On Sep 07, 2022 |
There is absolutely nothing wrong with my line of thought. But the choice is his. Except you are sublimely encouraging him to start defrauding or stealing from his place of work all in the pride of a man living a decent life, then no wahala. What exactly is stable in the Nigeria of today? For instance, I will never advise him to take a loan if he values his peace of mind. The one thing that his family needs most now is his sound mindedness. A loan can scatter that in a seconds...not even with the devilish and inhumane loan offers out there. But of course, if he is so sure of repaying, then he can go ahead. Mind you, nothing as at today is certain until perhaps if Buhari leaves. Back to my initial advise, I did not ask him to go and drive a coloured taxi. E-hailing is a transitional business for any individual looking towards greater goals without necessarily staying idle in the moment. Except he goes announcing publicly, nobody will know and he will still have his vehicle as a necessity, live a decent life while he continues to push forward codedly....it is all perception. And like you said, discipline is key. Klass99: PapaG owning a car as a family man or even as a single one, is a necessity not a liability. I wish more people would stop saying this or thinking this way! Why must the car be used for ehailing purposes? The man no deserve better thing for himself?
@ The Topic, If his wife earns a regular and stable income from work too, I will suggest he takes a loan because it will help him achieve his goal sooner rather than later and possibly school him in financial discipline and integrity. When you know you have a due date for payments on a loan, it gingers you to make it happen (that's discipline) and when you make it happen it shows you've got integrity as a person, so when you approach a lender again, in the future for help, they are willing to oblige you, but I don't encourage a lifestyle of frequent borrowing and debt.
If he decides to save until an outright purchase is doable, he may be on a very very long thing. Whatever he manages to save may be taken out of his hands by family emergencies, relatives or in-laws who have their eyes on his small 130k income, it may be like chasing the wind with the current state of affairs in Naija and erratic dollar rates. He can save 2.5M from now till March 2023 only to realize vehicle rates have gone up 10% since October 2022....that's just an illustration and my thinking sha.
Additionally, with the rising costs of living will consistent saving from 130k be sustainable? Titus sardine is no longer 350 a tin, milk and milo cost more, feeding is a daily event......you were right when you said he knows he needs to up his income and pls tell him no more pregnancies or children, two kids are just fine. |
Family › Re: Advice On How To Get A Car: Loan Or Savings? by PapaGfad: 9:47am On Sep 07, 2022 |
I believe he can still afford a simple and not overated vehicle. However, considering the liability that comes with owning a vehicle, I will advise he gets a vehicle that can fit into ehailing. That way, he would be able to balance things while still moving forward. |

Apparently, she lacks quality financial knowledge. And from your post, it appears she is the type that pleases people and find it had to shy away or even say No. Yet, she herself doesn't even have a footing or pillars that can please her as she does for others. To be fair, she needs help, she cannot help herself because it is a foundational problem. She needs someone that can patiently work on her but I tell you this, it is a serious work that may turn burdensome. Are you ready? maikbanj: Good morning dear Nairalanders,
Thank you for being there in the past with your timely advise(s). I am here again just to get some more on a case.
I have a girlfriend which I plan getting married to as both families are all involved. My girlfriend has had a bad past. She was once abused and all but then I was able to help shape her when I got into her life. I have been there for her in my own little way but lately, she has not been behaving too well and I am not happy about that fact.I will itemize these:
1. She once borrowed her friend her school fees to rent an apartment with the promise the friend was going to pay her back before exams started. Her friend failed to pay her back and I had to provide her with the money in order not to miss her exams. Note, the said friend is a female.
2. Second semester, her pops gave her school fees which I saw the alert. Yea,she travelled down to see me from Lag and she spent some but then I told her she would not have spent her school fees to come see me. Infact at that time I never knew she was going to come because I was sick but she did. So I told her not to touch her school fees again that I was going to refund her the money. She left and I refunded. I paid her flight back to Lagos.
I later found out my girlfriend didn’t pay that school fees. She spent it and when it was time to pay she kept complaining. I was mad at her wondering what she must have used it for. I scolded her and gave her part of the money.(N100k)
3. I have paid several debts for her as she made some mistakes in her online business and was swindled. The most recent one now, she went to get loans from apps online. I don’t even know what would have made her do that as I try assist her when she’s in need. I have warned her severally against borrowing but she went to borrow and now she’s into debt.
I have asked what she used the money for but she can’t even point to one thing. She said she used the initial loan for her personal needs and when she couldn’t pay back, she had to borrow from another app to pay and all. That’s how she kept borrowing to pay another till she borrowed from over 15 loan apps and her debt is running into 350k as at today.
I honestly can’t pay such an amount as I have my own personal problems to carry. I was mad because in the past I have warned her against borrowing and all. Now she’s in trouble and they’ve been threatening her to pay back.
I have told her I don’t have such monies to pay back and even if I had I won’t pay back. I have advised she talk to her parents and siblings about it but she has been scared. I have that money but I can’t pay back as I have more pressing needs to attend to. Since she has refused to tell her parents, I am thinking of telling her parents. I am very close to her family.
This is someone I wanna get married to but with all I’m seeing, I am already having doubts.
She’s from a very good home. Deep down, I love her and she does too. But why these problems, I don’t understand.
Please I seek your advice on how to handle this as I can’t pay such debts. I have done several in the past
Thanks |
