sweetsandy4luv: VDM Claim they warned him not to return to Nigeria over his anti Tinubu comments, X users reacts online after the activist claimed he received a warning not to return to Nigeria with his phone.
VeryDarkMan is trending again after claiming somebody warned him not to return to Nigeria with his phone because he could allegedly get arrested over his comments about President Bola Tinubu’s government.
The social media critic, who said he is currently in China, shared the message online and it quickly spread across X and Facebook.
According to him, the anonymous caller advised him not to announce his return publicly.
“I received an anonymous warning call earlier today,” he wrote. “The person told me not to come back with my phone because there’s a high chance I might be arrested.”
VDM also claimed that some people believe he is being sponsored to constantly criticize the government.
As expected, the post immediately divided opinions online.
Anybody who has followed VDM for a while already knows this kind of thing is part of his brand online. He became popular from those rant videos where he would drag celebrities, influencers, NGOs, and almost anybody he felt deserved it. Some Nigerians like the fact that he says things exactly the way they are without caring who gets offended. But there are also many people who believe he likes internet drama too much and always finds himself at the center of controversy somehow.
That’s why plenty of people online are already brushing off this latest claim instead of taking it seriously.
One X user, Buddyvic, reacted jokingly: “He don come again lol 😂 nah everytime them they threatening am.”
Another user, Joshking1740, accused him of chasing attention online whenever engagement drops.
“He always out here clout chasing,” the user wrote.
Some people also pointed out how VDM has switched positions on certain public figures in the past, saying his activism sometimes feels inconsistent depending on the situation.
Still, not everyone dismissed his comments completely.
A few Nigerians agreed with his criticism about the hardship in the country. One user, King Byron, said many citizens are frustrated over hunger, insecurity, and the rising cost of living.
Outside social media arguments, the situation reflects a bigger issue in Nigeria right now. Many young people are angry about the economy and political direction of the country, while others have become tired of online activism that mostly turns into internet drama.
For now, reactions remain mixed.
Some people believe VDM is simply using another controversial moment to stay relevant online. Others think his comments reflect frustrations that many Nigerians already have but are afraid to say publicly.

pacino26: This is like trying to modify a Toyota Camry 1998 into a Benz E-Class 2025 it won’t work. The rational thing is they have a refining license, with exemption for storage tanks and some process piping they should just overhaul the entire refinery to a new one. That’s what I meant. The refining process and current capacity is outdated. They should just scrap it. It can't be overhaul to a new one. It will cost more compared to just building a new refinery. Some work can be done that will make the refinery work. I have Confidence the Chinese will make it work |
Politics › Re: How Ironsi's Decree 1 Of 1966 Abolished Regions by Parachoko: 9:52am On May 23*. Modified: 7:55pm On May 23 |
DomPerignon: Normally this won't be up for discussion but since we are inundated with Biafra revisionist liars like Gidgiddy and co who claim it was Gowon and not Ironsi that abolished regions , there is need to keep the liars at bay and the dwindling flames of truth that they want to blow out.
Decree No. 1 of 1966, officially known as the Constitution (Suspension and Modification) Decree, was the first legal instrument issued by Major General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi following Nigeria's first military coup on January 15, 1966
It effectively suspended the 1963 Constitution and transferred all executive, legislative, and judicial powers to the military government, marking the beginning of military rule in Nigeria.
Key Provisions and Impact
1. Suspension of the Constitution: The decree suspended the 1963 Constitution, leaving the military government with the authority to govern by decree without legislative oversight or parliamentary debate.
2. Concentration of Power: It established the Supreme Military Council as the highest decision-making body, dissolving federal and regional legislatures and centralizing authority in the hands of the Head of State
3. Legal Supremacy: Decrees issued under this framework were given the force of law and were immune from judicial challenge, effectively placing the military above the law
4. End of Regional Autonomy: While Decree No. 1 suspended the constitution, it paved the way for subsequent decrees, most notably Decree No. 34 (the Unification Decree) in May 1966, which abolished the federal system entirely and replaced it with a unitary structure
Historical Context and Consequences
Ironsi's regime used Decree No. 1 to justify the arrest of political opponents and the banning of political parties, promising to restore order and curb corruption .
However, the centralization of power and the perceived failure to address the ethnic tensions exposed by the January coup deepened regional suspicions, particularly in Northern Nigeria .
This legislative move, combined with the later Unification Decree, was a primary catalyst for the counter-coup of July 29, 1966, which resulted in Ironsi's assassination and the rise of Lieutenant Colonel Yakubu Gowon .
.Decree No. 1 set a precedent for "rule by decree" that would define Nigerian governance for the next 33 years until the return of civilian rule in 1999 . Ojujwu didn't say pim when Ironsi destroyed True Federalism in Nigeria Adaka Boro left Nigeria with Ijaw lands alone without taken an inch of ibo land, Ironsi and Ojukwu went to war against people who just wanted to leave Nigeria peacefully |

pacino26: Same NNPCL that claimed its refineries are working and did multiple fanfare commissioning is accusing a company less than 4yrs in refining operations of monopoly. We once queued up for fuel in NNPC filling stations that year sef.
Why don’t they get their acts together, sell off the scraps and move on. Let’s not forget they recently tried to increase their stake in Dangote refinery and he refused. We must boost local refining o, by fire by force. They have no plans to sell it They have signed a contract with some Chinese to repair and run the PH refinery |
Business › Re: NNPC Accuses Dangote Refinery Of Trying To Monopolise Fuel Market by Parachoko: 9:36am On May 23 |
I don't understand why Dangote wants fuel importation into Nigeria to be totally banned
If every country with refineries start banning importation of Fuel, will he like it?
Base on our experience with Cement and Rice, I'm totally against the ban on importation of Fuel. it will give room for Dangote to dictate the price, if importation was not banned, there will be a price war between the Importers and Producers which will favour Nigerians
Banning importation will really weaken competition |
