ogaemma: You should be the one wailing. You guys are so blind to the truth and reality. According to the recent indices, Lagos now have one of the highest cases of homeless people right now in Nigeria. The numbers of homeless people in Lagos have outnumbered the number of homeless people in Kaduna and Kano. In Obalende under bridge, there are right now over 1500 people living under the Obalende under bridge, some are with families. In Oshodin pedestrian bridge, the number of homeless people there are now running into hundreds. So who is wailing? We don't have such numbers of homeless people in my state. I repeat loud and clear, that Lagos is past Glory that is overrated. And I hope you are not one of the homeless ones in Obalende under bridge. There's nothing you're Wailing about in Lagos that's not happening in Abia, Anambra, Imo etc You can Wail about anything you want, but base on reality, Lagos is one of the best state in Sub Saharan Africa |

Shouldn't we have 24 hours electricity now that we are not paying subsidy? List out the roads Jonathan constructed, and the km of roads he constructed Because me I know all the roads I know in the south west and south south were in bad shape under Jonathan. His rehabilitation of the east west road hardly last till the raining season, once it rains, flood go wash of the roads Well, I'm waiting for you to list the quality roads Jonathan Constructed between 2011 and 2015 |

Nigeria was borrowing to pay for subsidy before Asiwaju became the President
Under Jonathan, we were borrowing to pay Salaries, borrowing to pay for subsidy, Pension, and also borrowing to build projects
Under Buhari, we were borrowing to pay subsidy on fuel, and also borrowing to pay salaries, pensions and also borrowing to build projects
Under Asiwaju, we're not borrowing to pay pensions or salaries, we're not borrowing to pay for subsidy, we're only borrowing to spend on Capital Projects.
I expect Sanusi to know there's no problem borrowing to build capital projects |

Bro, you're just someone who talks anyhow online because I'm not against Government removing the subsidy in the power sector I'm not against Government removing subsidy in the power sector but this is not the right time to do it. Government removed subsidy on fuel Government devalued the naira The Government action has lead to the Price of Goods and Services shooting up If the President stop paying subsidy in the power sector, it will lead to an increase in the price of Goods and Services The Presidential Election will be held on January 16 2027, it does not make any sense for Asiwaju to remove subsidy at this point because it can affect him at the election. After he has won the election, then he can stop paying subsidy in the power sector |

Also, you are asking the wrong question, and I won't tell you what the right question is. Just mention the name of the candidate you're supporting make we know No serious politician anywhere in the world going into an election will remove subsidy on petrol at this point. Removing subsidy on fuel and devaluing the naira has made the cost of goods and services to shoot up. If Tinubu stop subsidizing the power sector at this point, it will lead to the price of goods and services shooting up and will definitely affect him Negatively at the polls in 2027. Asiwaju will likely stop paying subsidy in the power sector before he leaves power in 2031 No President with his common sense working will remove subsidy in the power sector few months to a presidential election. Immediately he stops paying it, cost of goods and services will shoot up |

Business › Re: CBN Moves To Reshape Nigeria’s Digital Payments System by Parachoko: 1:36pm On Apr 23 |
fineboynl: I want to share my economics observations. I created a thread before. But let me paste it here
https://www.nairaland.com/8657498/let-discuss-economy-politics
Let's assume we had a 500 trillion total money supply in Nigeria before devaluation.
and suffered a 500% inflation as a result of bad policy and strangulation of the economy.
The problem is not as a result of having excess money but a bad policy of floating the currency and increasing prices of everything overnight.
As a result of this our GDP which was measured in USD drops in value.
Things originally sold for 200 rose to 1000. This shakes up the economy as everything else increases.
The outcome is reduced. Spending: Because there is less money, economic activity slows down, and purchasing power often stalls. People have goods, property, and services to render, but there is no money with the artificial inflation caused by bad policies. Government spending increases greatly, five-fold, from the previous project cost, but with lesser results.
example. People that had 10,000,000 in the account before suffered a loss equivalent to 8,000,000. as what they now have is 2,000,000 in value of 10,000,000 from a few days ago,
Now let's assume the country loses 500% of this money supply value.
There is going to be bad business and low patronage, like Nigeria is facing now with price increases.
The remaining money supply in the economy shrinks in value from 500 trillion to 100 trillion actual value.
Should not the government print more money to balance the bad economy by making it a 2.5 quadrillion money supply?
Sounds like a bad idea, right? But alternatively, it is to re-dominate the currency to remove 1 or 2 zeros. Instead of the government mentioning quadrillion, which is already an embarrassment.
The right thing to do is to print more money to be equivalent to its previous values.
In 1999 the annual budget was ₦300 billion (after the bad economy, such as inflation from IBB and Abacha).
A decade later, in 2009, it was ₦3.102 trillion.
Another decade later, in 2019, it was ₦8.92 trillion.
And right now it's ₦68.32 trillion.
The budget rose greatly with nothing to show. The life expectancy or projects were way better in 2009 when the national budget was 3-4 trillion.
With a budget of 4 trillion, Jonathan built massive roads in the north and the Benin-Auchi road. and the biggest economy in Africa.
But with ₦68.32 trillion now. We are seeing lesser results. list the names of the roads in the north Jonathan built |

lawani: INEC should make the payment of annual dues a requirement to be a party member
It is not realistic to claim to be a member of anything without being a financial member of that thing by paying an annual due. Be it a professional body or even a church, you must contribute financially and for a political party it should be the standard.
Even churches are funded to the extent that many Pastors are able to maintain a private jet or even a fleet of private jets. Political parties should be constrained all over the world and especially in Nigeria to be the same way and any association or professional body with enough due paying members within a constituency should be granted the same rights as a political party. They are already a pressure group and should therefore be able to sponsor candidates for elections.
People should participate and also put their monies where their mouth is. This is not INEC job. Only political parties can make this decision |
