PoliticsRe: 2027: De-register ADC, ZLP, Accord Party, others - AGF Fagbemi tells Court by Parachoko: 11:01am On Apr 30

Breaking News; Attorney General asks Court to deregister ADC, Accord, three other parties

The Attorney General of the Federation has urged the Federal High Court in Abuja to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister five political parties, arguing that their continued existence violates constitutional provisions and undermines Nigeria’s electoral integrity.

In court filings, the Attorney General contended that unless the court intervenes, INEC would “continue to act in breach of its constitutional duty” by retaining parties that have failed to meet the minimum requirements prescribed by law.

The filing stressed that the right to associate as a political party is not absolute and must be exercised within constitutional limits. It further argued that it is in the interest of justice for the court to grant the reliefs sought by the plaintiffs.

The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/2637/2026 and filed at the Abuja Judicial Division of the Federal High Court, lists the Incorporated Trustees of the National Forum of Former Legislators as the plaintiff.

The defendants include INEC as the first defendant and the Attorney General of the Federation as the second defendant, alongside five political parties: African Democratic Congress (ADC), Action Alliance (AA), Action Peoples Party (APP), Accord (A), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

At the center of the issue in the case is whether INEC has a constitutional obligation to remove parties that fail to meet electoral performance thresholds set out in Section 225A of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and reinforced by the Electoral Act 2022 and INEC’s own regulations.

The plaintiffs argue that the affected parties have persistently failed to satisfy the constitutional benchmarks required to retain their registration. These include winning at least 25 per cent of votes in a state during a presidential election or securing at least one elective seat at the national, state or local government level.

Unicane Ethanol industries is currently building a new plant in ogun state worth several millions of dollar.

AMINDA, I told you that your principal, Messer Atiku will be picking Amaechi as his running mate if he wins the ticket despite Amaechi running for same ticket.

This is because unlike one selfish stingy lazy politician, Amaechi will bankroll the joint ticket and same Amaechi has wide support among Muslim north unlike same stingy lying fraudulent messiah of Congo Judea.
I wander if Asgard Aminda go take this well because he has being campaigning for the Atiku/Obi joint ticket

whatever you call it or think about , its strictly your opinion !

If you are lucky to be picked like that to succeed someone , you will never be here analyzing nonsense .

Good or bad , someone has to replace someone as the seat must never be vacant .

pray for your time and maybe it shall come .
Gan

Endorsing a certain candidate still don't stop other politicians from contesting though they will lose against the consensus candidate

If he was seated in the 3rd row, that's humiliation and disrespect of the highest order. That's terrible.

At times, you do see the point of those from the East who complain about how they and their leaders are treated in Nigeria.
I do not believe he was seated in the 3rd row. He's a former Governor, he won't be treated like that.

Tinubu is playing a dangerous game.
He and his followers pushing him must understand that people especially in the North will die for what they believe in.
Don't play with democracy, some people will die to protect it. They die for less important causes.

You can't win this fight, you're not fighting a just cause. You're fighting with your money while people are fighting with their hearts and souls for what they believe in and think is right.

If the people don't want you, leave power and give it a rest.

The South doesn't support you, and you have lost the partnership you had with the North.

Let it rest. Think about the ones coming after you that will be victims of your reckless selfish decisions.

If trouble starts you can't just say "ok let's go back to where things were", you don't get to decide when it ends.

Think about foreign countries and actors who take advantage of conflicts as contractors and mercenaries.

A word is enough for the wise.
