Politics › Re: 2027: US Should Intervene Before INEC, APC Set Nigeria On Fire – Timi Frank by Parachoko: 10:42am On Apr 02 |
Ofunaofu: The former deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Timi Frank, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the ruling APC of taking actions capable of destabilizing Nigeria’s democratic system.
He also called on the United States government led by President Donald Trump to intervene to safeguard democracy in Nigeria.
Frank made this known in a statement on Thursday.
Recall that INEC on Wednesday derecognized David Mark’s leadership of the ADC pending the determination of a suit filed before a Federal High Court in Abuja.
However, Frank, in a reaction, alleged that interference in opposition parties, now extending to the ADC, poses a serious threat to democratic governance and could “set Nigeria on fire” if not urgently addressed.
“INEC and the APC-led government appear to be taking steps that threaten the very foundation of our democracy,” he said, adding that the pattern of events across opposition parties suggests a coordinated attempt to weaken political competition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He warned that the trend mirrors developments during the regime of former head of state Sani Abacha, when democratic institutions were suppressed.
“This pattern is reminiscent of the tactics employed during the era of General Sani Abacha,” Frank stated.
The activist expressed concern over the actions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alleging that recent developments point to a drift towards authoritarianism.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has, through recent actions, evoked concerns of a return to authoritarian tendencies.
“His desperation to retain power by all means raises serious questions about the future of democratic governance in Nigeria,” he said.
Frank claimed that internal crises within major opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party, Social Democratic Party (SDP), and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), had been influenced by external forces and warned that the situation was now spreading to the ADC.
He further alleged that the judiciary was being deployed to frustrate opposition parties through questionable rulings.
“The courts and the judiciary have been used to thwart democratic processes with frivolous decisions,” he said, calling on the international community to take action against what he described as violations of judicial integrity.
“Nigeria is about to head into anarchy and a crisis that might be difficult to curtail,” he said, adding that such developments have historically led to political upheavals, including civil wars in other countries.
“I call on all well-meaning Nigerians, including the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), and traditional rulers, among others, to speak up and defend our democracy. Silence at this critical moment is not an option.
“I urge the international community to remain vigilant… particularly the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to encourage and support the preservation of democratic values in Nigeria,” he added Nah so una dey predict doom after Asiwaju won the 2023 Presidential Election. Some Obidients even advised Buhari not to Handover to Asiwaju. So we're used to all this anyhow talk. Gombe is the Authentic Chairman of the ADC |

21lucky: APC Crisis Deepens as Faction Demands Chairmanship Shift to South-East
Fresh tensions have erupted within Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), as a growing faction insists that Nentawe Yilwatda, the current National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which hails from Plateau State, which is located in the North-Central region of Nigeria should step aside to allow the position move to the South-East region.
The dissenting voices argue that retaining the chairmanship in the North-Central undermines the party’s internal balance and weakens its claim to national inclusivity. According to party stakeholders aligned with the agitation, zoning the leadership to the South-East would correct what they describe as a “glaring marginalization” of the region within the APC power structure.
Sources within the faction warn that failure to address the demand could trigger deeper divisions ahead of future electoral cycles. “The APC must reflect true federal character. The South-East has long been sidelined, and this is the time to correct that imbalance,” one party chieftain said.
However, loyalists of Nentawe Yilwatda have dismissed the agitation as politically motivated, insisting that the chairman’s mandate remains valid and that leadership changes must follow due process.
The development has sparked intense debate within the APC, with analysts warning that unresolved zoning disputes could weaken party cohesion. Observers note that similar internal conflicts have historically shaped the fortunes of major political parties in Nigeria.
As pressure mounts, all eyes are on the APC’s National Working Committee and influential power blocs to determine whether the party will maintain the status quo or bow to calls for a strategic shift to the South-East. APC dey give Obidients sleepless Night |

fergie001: Was I not reciting and explaining same thing yesterday?.
Rivers lawmakers publicly announced their defection. They sued the Governor and it was in their affidavit that they had defected yet the Court said membership of a political party is determined by the Party not the Courts. APC members here were asking if Amaewhule's name was in the APC Register.
Today, Nafiu has been expelled. A Party is supreme over its own affairs. The man resigned, a NEC meeting was held, INEC was present and the formal handover of activities took place..... A NEC meeting, yet Professor of Law has now interpreted ante bellum in his own way.
Like I said, we have seen this before. The worst institution hit by Tinubu's ascendancy is the Judiciary, it will take years to right the wrongs.
It's finally going to be a coronation and not an election, so INEC share the money and give me my own cut. How can the same NEC you claimed resigned expell a NEC member who didn't resign? |

It's simple Maths.
If they go separately again, Tinubu wins before 1:30pm. I'm not just refering to his 2023 prediction. Almost everyone who follows politics knows they might have won if they worked together in 2023. I was also very happy when Obi left the PDP for the LP. No matter the combo, the APC won't lose in 2027 |

APC has been losing votes since 2015. In 2019, they got 19 million votes, in 2023, 8.9 million...that's 10 million votes gone..like that.
INEC is biased really, but then the oppostion brought it somewhat on themselves. If Atiku and Obi had come to an agreement in 2022, by now there would be no APC In charge . fergie001: That is a lie. The Court didn't tell INEC anything like that, it was Nafiu's lawyers that said so.
Again, status quo ante bellum means "before the hostilities began", before the war started, before the suit was filed. Before this suit was filed, Mark was Chairman. I have continued to say that this Judiciary you people are supporting will wreck this nation. A man resigned and is going to Court to challenge decision of the NEC of a Party, the highest ruling organ of the Party asides the National Convention. A body that reserves its rights to choose absolutely anybody as a member. A domestic affair of a Political Party. All of us dey here.

Politics › Re: El-rufai Mum's Burial: Timi Frank Raises Concerns Over Absence Of Yoruba Muslims by Parachoko: 5:05pm On Mar 31 |
JohnMo2: Ambassador Timi Frank, a former Spokesperson of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised concerns that the brotherhood amongst Nigerians which was the bedrock, promoting a unified Nigeria, has now completely collapsed under the President Bola Asiwaju Tinubu’s Administration as it is now more glaring everyday on the sharp divisions even amongst persons of same faith, as can be seen at the burial of the Mother of the Former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai . It is rather disheartening and instructive of note that no South Western Muslim of the Yoruba ethnicity was present at the burial, but instead chose to abstain from the burial of the mother of former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai.
He credited it to the bad blood governance style of President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Ambassador Timi Frank said that "Even in the death, the Yorubas of the south west are clearly avoiding the North due to the fear of being persecuted by the President. It is important to note that at the burial rites, we did not see or witness any visible presence of Muslim of the Yoruba ethnicity show solidarity with the former minister and Governor, not withstanding even under a Muslim-Muslim Presidency. Aren’t we supposed to be one Nigeria irrespective of ethnicity, tribe and religion? Even Mr Peter Obi of the Christian faith was present to show solidarity, so why then are the South western Yoruba Muslims absent at the burial of El-Rufai's mother?"
"This only goes to shows you the extent to which the policies and body language of the President has started causing sharp division in the country. Before President Tinubu, we were all one as a people. We put politics aside and we condole one another across ethnicity, tribe and religion. But now, under Emilokan, the Yorubas for fear of Presidential persecution are avoiding a Northern brother and leader like Nasir El-Rufai.
"I hope the North is watching. Because this is a clear indication that should President Tinubu return for a second term, his policy of division and persecution of dissenting voices may be child's play compared to what we may witness. I fear he may not only cause more division to the unity of Nigeria, he may even decide to move the FCT to Lagos someday.
It is noteworthy to illustrate that Mallam Nasir El - Rufai gave everything and played his part in ensuring that this administration came to life, but is being vigorously persecuted by the same government he helped ascend to power, which should serve as a lesson to other northerners and leaders who are singing his praises at this time to be weary when the tables turn, “Ambassador Timi Frank concluded.
