Prove me wrong and stop throwing insults. It is very clear that what you posted is just a carefully crafted propaganda. Some of us are graduates of Chemical and Petroleum engineering so we know the basics of refining technology. Straight run gasoline is the first stage products that is fed into the catalytic cracker to produce PMS, so why is dangote exporting this pre-stage product when there is a high demand for cheap PMS in Nigeria? Next, why export to Europe where refineries are scaling down due to low demand and consumer preference for low fuel consumption vehicles, EVs and Hybrid variants?

Well I don't know or bother myself about that. The only thing that concerns me is the return of the old Benin kingdom and empire...that the great Obas,Oba Ovoramwen,Oba Esigie,Oba Ewuare, etc built.

Nothing like asaba, ogwashuku kwale IJAW and even urhobo there ....

The delta got their own destiny, especially the Ijaws.
Edo and Delta state were united under the Midwest and Bendel state. They will do fine as a united nation.

Stop pokenosing in the affairs of Delta and Edo.

Guy there's nothing like Edo/Delta nation, where the hell you getting this from.

In the days of the great Obas of Benin, there was nothing like delta people in the kingdom.
There's no cultural and traditional ties between the Edos and the people of delta state apart from a little from the urhobos.
The Ijaws speak IJAW language and the others, asaba, ogwashuku kwale are more close to the Igbos as they speak same language.
Edo got no ties at all with the igbos
Before the arrival of the white men, Igbo land was not united under one kingdom.

Delta state and Edo state will be one united nation if Nigeria divide, why is it paining you?

AfonjaConehead:
Yes and that's cos the whole of Delta today was part of the old Bendel with the capital in Benin city.

But Bendel is really all about the Edo.. today it is Edo state and all the components of Edo,the Benins,Esan,Afemai which consists of the Auchi,Owan people are all Edoid. All offshoots of the Benin kingdom. It's only the people of Akoko Edo,Igarra, who are also part of Afemai, that are not really Edo! Their language and music is more related to the Kwara kogi Igalla something. They also speak a lot of yoruba as well in Igarra. Only the Urhobos in delta are Edo people who went very far away from home and only God knows what happened to them and who they mixed with that gave them their present kinda language and cultural lifestyle.
So in essence, the Benins are top in the kingdom and if anything happens today, the old Benin kingdom and empire will be returned and it doesn't include any outsiders whether asaba or ogwash or kwale, everybody go answer him papa name for him own country. I really wish for that.
Delta state and Edo state is one. No part of this area has ever been part of the eastern region.

Even ojukwu didn't integrate them into Biafra.

No part of Delta state will be part of Biafla

They are not. Maybe the urhobos but certainly not those asaba,ogwashuku,kwale,IJAW... We Edos got nothing in common traditionally and culturally with them. They are Anioma and have strong cultural and traditional ties with the Igbos.
Delta north was part of the western region,Midwest state, Bendel state and now part of Delta state.

Delta state and Edo state will form a united country.

Dangote refinery has commenced export of its refined product providing more revenue opportunities for the mega refinery.

This is even as the refinery has placed new order for crude oil totalling about 24 million barrels over the next 12 months

For the first time, a Cargo of Low- sulphur Straight Run Fuel Oil (LSSR) produced at the 650,000 barrels a day plant has reached the European market.

The 90,000 tons cargo was loaded at Dangote’s terminal in Lekki on 25 April and discharged in Rotterdam on 13 May, according to data from trade analytics firm Kpler.

The cargo will likely be used as a blendstock to produce very-low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO), market participants said.

Roughly 72pc of the fuel oil exported from Dangote has been delivered to the US since the refinery offered its first LSSR export tender mid-February. A total of just under 620,000 tons has been delivered so far.

Another LSSR shipment of 83,400 tons departed the refinery on 7 May, according to trade analytics firm Vortexa. It is scheduled to arrive in France on 22 May, but market participants say this is unlikely to be the cargo’s final destination.

The LSSR price assessments on a fob Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) basis have stayed at a $5/bl premium to front-month Ice Brent crude futures this week, narrowing from an 18-month high of $7.50/bl in mid-April.

Maintenance work that began in the first quarter affected fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) units at some refineries.

The FCCs take LSSR and low-sulphur vacuum gasoil to increase gasoline yields.

Meanwhile, Dangote refinery has placed new order for crude oil totalling about 24 million barrels over the next twelve months.

The refinery is seeking to buy millions of barrels of US crude over the next year as it ramps up processing rates, an indication Nigeria’s current output may not sustain its operations.

Nigeria has been unable to meet its quota from the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries(OPEC), for at least a year.

The nation pumped about 1.45 million barrels a day of crude and liquids in April, still far below its estimated production capacity of 2.6 million barrels a day. Crude theft, aging oil pipelines, low investment, and divestments from oil majors operating in Nigeria have all contributed to declining production.

Dangote refinery had issued a term tender for the purchase of 2 million barrels a month of West Texas Intermediate Midland crude for 12 months starting in July, according to a document seen by Bloomberg. The tender closes on May 21.

The call for US oil highlights how influential the plant will be in global crude and fuel trading.

It also reflects Nigeria’s struggle to lift its own crude production, which remains well below theoretical capacity, as well as Dangote’s willingness to tap cheaper supplies than it can find at home.

“Supply of Nigerian crude is insufficient or unavailable and sometimes unreliable,” said Elitsa Georgieva, executive director at Citac, an energy consultancy specialising in the African downstream sector. “WTI on the other hand, is available, with reliable supply and competitively priced.”

Buying different feedstocks also provides flexibility and optionality for the refinery, so the tender makes economic sense for Dangote, Georgieva said.

To ensure enough local supply to the giant 650,000 barrel-a-day Dangote refinery, the Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, (NUPRC) released new draft rules last month that will compel its oil producers to sell crude to domestic refineries.

The plant, currently running at about half capacity, is taking advantage of cheaper US oil imports for as much as a third of its feedstock.

Since the start of this year, it has received at least one supertanker carrying about two million barrels of WTI Midland each month. An official at Dangote declined to comment.

I stay in Aba. The hype that came with the commissioning of geometric has not lived up to expectation. Only few areas who are in the minority are enjoying regular power supply from geometric power station while the rest are under epileptic supply sourced via TCN.

About two weeks I went to a place near Ngwa road, Ogwo road, I noticed that Aba power has started free mass metering in areas that have been connected to geometric.

My observation is that DISCOs will not generate much revenue if all customers have prepaid meters when the power is epileptic and insufficent. They prefer estimated billing, because they can generate revenue for supplying darkness. But if power is sufficient and stable, they will do free mass metering to generate much revenue.

There are 3 shops in our compound that share a prepaid meter. About a month ago, their balance was 4.10kwh. The credit has not exhausted because of poor supply. If it was estimated bill, they would have spent 10,000 in just 2 months.

PoliticsSouth West On Course To Be Home For 50% Nigerians 2050 – Senator by Paraman(op): 6:43pm On May 16, 2024
A viral video of Senator Gbenga Daniel’s position on the need to address the developmental needs of South West zone in the country has resurfaced online.

The Ogun Senator spoke when the upper chamber embarked on a debate concerning the South West Development Commission Bill.

He advocated that the region is set to be the home for 50 per cent of Nigerians by 2050.

This legislative initiative, co-sponsored by all Southwest Senators and championed by Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, signifies a step towards addressing the region’s developmental needs.

According to a February 2024 report from The Society, the news agency stated that the former Ogun governor’s position was propelled by projections indicating a significant demographic shift.

“With the Southwest poised to accommodate nearly half of Nigeria’s population by 2050, the bill seeks to establish proactive measures to mitigate infrastructural strains and foster sustainable growth.

“Spearheading this effort is the proposed South West Development Commission (SWDC), designed to spearhead strategic initiatives across vital sectors such as agriculture, transportation, and environmental sustainability,” he said.

Daniel, drawing from his background as a Fellow of both the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Academy of Engineering, articulated the imperative of the SWDC in fostering collective prosperity and bolstering the region’s competitive edge.

The debate underscores a unified commitment among Southwest Senators to prioritise the region’s development agenda, paving the way for inclusive growth and resilience.

The bill was referred to the Senate Committee on Special Duties to report back in four weeks.

However, PUNCH Online cannot verify at press time the status of the bill and the feedback scheduled for March ending.

The House of Representatives, in October 2021, passed bills seeking to establish a South-East Development Commission and a South-West Development Commission, PUNCH Online reported. https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/reps-pass-south-east-south-west-north-central-north-west-commission-bills/

Also passed were bills to establish a North Central Development Commission and a North-West Development Commission.

The South-West Development Commission (Establishment) Bill 2019 passed the first reading at the plenary on December 11, 2019.

PoliticsNigeria’s Oil Output Recovers After March Dip, Says OPEC by Paraman(op): 6:32pm On May 16, 2024
There seems to be hope in the offing for Nigeria as its dwindling daily oil production turned the corner in April, rising marginally from 1.23 million barrels per day in March to 1.28 mbpd, according to the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries.

OPEC, in its Monthly Oil Market Report for May, said Nigeria’s oil production added 50,000 barrels daily in the last month after it fell in recent times during the month before.

The nation’s crude production fell from 1.32 million barrels per day in February to 1.23 million barrels per day in March, according to a report issued by the organization on Tuesday.

Production dropped from 1.427 mbpd in January to 1.322 mbpd, according to primary sources.

The continuous drop in production came amid stakeholders’ concerns over the loss of revenue due to the failure of the government to ramp up production.

Recently, the Chairman of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria, Wole Ogunsanya, said the country was losing a lot of revenue daily due to its inability to tackle dwindling oil production.

According to Ogunsanya, if Nigeria could retain between 60 and 70 per cent of the oil and gas value chain in the country, it stands a better chance of being among the top 20 economies in the world.

He pointed out that the country was underproducing to the tune of at least 500,000 barrels per day, which was a huge loss to the country.

But the Federal Government said the drop in Nigeria’s crude oil production was due to issues encountered on the Trans Niger Pipeline, coupled with maintenance activities carried out by some oil companies operating across the country.

It, however, stated that efforts were on to fix the pipeline, adding that this would enable the country to produce up to 1.7 million barrels per day of crude oil and condensates.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, claimed that the drop in production was due to issues encountered on the Trans Niger Pipeline.

“In response to recent concerns regarding a shortfall in oil production in Nigeria during the first quarter of 2024, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, assures (Nigerians) that measures are being taken to address the situation to, not only restore production to previous levels but to also increase it.

“The minister clarifies that the reported production shortfall was primarily due to issues encountered on the Trans Niger Pipeline, coupled with maintenance activities carried out by some oil companies operating in Nigeria.

“The minister is also pleased to announce that the issues have been adequately addressed, and production is expected to return to its previous levels in the coming days,” a statement by Lokpobiri’s spokesman, Nneamaka Okafor, said in April.

At a meeting with stakeholders in Lagos recently, Lokpobiri emphasised that idle oil wells and licences would be revoked and handed over to individuals with proven capacity to explore.
