PoliticsRe: Despite Local Refineries, Nigeria Spends N9.1trillion On Petroleum Importation I by Paraman: 5:09pm On Dec 17, 2024
Namaster:
Dangote Refinery is a SCAM!

The launch of the refinery marked an INCREASE in the price of Petrol and Foreign Exchange.

Dollar went up!
Petrol went up!

YET Dangote is making plans to EXPORT more petrol to FOREIGN countries in 2025.

A real SCAM!
The report is for the first, second and third quarter of the year, what quarter of the year did the Dangote refinery start refining fuel?

When Dangote started operation, he was producing only diesel, it's around September he started producing petrol.

The effect of the refineries will start showing in Q4 2024
PoliticsRe: Despite Local Refineries, Nigeria Spends N9.1trillion On Petroleum Importation I by Paraman: 5:08pm On Dec 17, 2024
Omooba77:
In the first quarter of 2024, the refined petroleum importation gulped N2.6trillion, in the second quarter of 2024, it gulped N3.2trillion while taking N3.3trillion in the third quarter of 2024.

A review of data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has shown that Nigeria imported refined petroleum to the tune of N9.1trillion between January and September 2024.

https://saharareporters.com/2024/12/17/despite-local-refineries-nigeria-spends-n91trillion-petroleum-importation-nine-months

In the first quarter of 2024, the refined petroleum importation gulped N2.6trillion, in the second quarter of 2024, it gulped N3.2trillion while taking N3.3trillion in the third quarter of 2024.

This development comes amid controversies on local production and patronage of refined petroleum in the country.

The importation of petroleum worth N9.1trillion between first and third quarter of 2024, means that the country spent twice what it spent in importation of refined petroleum in same period of 2023.

Between Q1 and Q3, 2023, N4.5 trillion was spent on refined petroleum importation by Nigeria.

According to the official statistics body, NBS, data, in the third quarter of 2023, the country imported N1.9 trillion worth of motor ordinary spirit (petroleum), it imported petroleum worth N1.2 trillion in the second quarter of 2023, and N1.4 trillion in the first quarter of 2023.

Nigeria has had to rely on importation of refined petroleum owning to poor and non-functional refineries.

Importation of refined petroleum has been blamed in part for inflationary tendencies on the naira weakening the country’s currency. It also accounts for a substantial part of what the country imports.

Although it was recently announced that the Port-Harcourt refinery owned by the country had started operations, controversies continue to surround its true functionality and ability to ease any substantially importation of petroleum in the country.

There have been controversies also on the patronage of the Dangote Refinery in Lagos with accusations and counter accusations on pricing of petroleum supplied by the refinery.
The report is for Q1,Q2 and Q3, the money we spend on importing fuel will drop in Q4

Nifemy4:
It's no news that our leaders are chronically bereft and barren of ideas. Majorly, on how to actually make the people feel the impact of governance. One thing is never lacking in thier repertoire of 8 non fruitless cyclic years.---- roads and bridges.

This same malaise of idea deficit has metastacized accross the whole country and is currently holding the country by the balls, ensuring that roads and bridges are what their governors give back to them every 8 years for voting for them. That's even for excellent and performaning governors. Other state are not even aware if thier governors are alive or not.

Depsite the humongous FAAC allocation, the citezens of rivers are unceremonously being caught in the cross fire between the lackluster the incumbent gov. Fubara and wike.

It's now a competition of who built the highest numbers of roads and bridges. Fubara has been featuring daily on Arise tv for the past two weeks. Commissioning roads and gathering live bands to sing his song fo praise. Also with kinsmen standing before him to swear that he's the best man afyer Jesus Christ. Some may even compare him to our lord and personal savior. Psycophancy is what events like this thrives on... All in the name of road construction.

It's depressing that in 2024, a whole sitting governor will be dancing round the community to commission just a road and a plethora of bridges. The peoole won't eat roads and bridges I reteriate.

We all aware you lack ideas, but what has your administration done about human capital development, human development index, quality of life indices, job creation, internal security. Do you even know that cultism still thrives in rivers like a tree planted by the river side.?
The world is talking about Ai, my country still set up a committee to supervise the committee that will oversea the road inauguration ceremony, where hundreds of millions will be wasted for logistics and honorarium, to say the least.

Fubara! One more time, the people won't eat roads and bridges..

Ayodeji femi
This is a dumb article in my own opinion. So roads shouldn't be fixed? Bridges shouldn't be constructed? Can you tell me just one develop country without good roads and bridges? Have you seen the kind of roads and bridges China is constructing?

If the roads in the USA, Canada, Belgium etc looks like Nigerian roads, Nigerians wont be able to use tokunbo cars. I'm sure the retard who wrote this rubbish can't afford to buy a car.

States, LGAs and the FG needs to build more roads and bridges all over Nigeria.

Unfortunately this has been the modus operandi of the governors, once a new administration starts at the state level they will use the state house of assembly to remove the LGA chairmen.
Even if those affected in Edo head to court, by the time the case will be done with, their tenure will be over.
The court should be ask to fast track the case like it was done during the deputy governor palava

PoliticsRe: Bandit Leader Bello Turji Issues Threats Over Arrest Of Key Associate Wurgi by Paraman: 11:16am On Dec 17, 2024
RealGandalf:
The notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji, has issued a series of grave threats following the arrest of his close associate, Wurgi, a key figure in Turji’s camp known for orchestrating ransom negotiations and collections. Wurgi’s operations have primarily affected communities in eastern Sokoto and Zamfara states, particularly areas like Isa, Sabon Birni (Sokoto State), and Shinkafi (Zamfara State).

Turji’s Response to Wurgi’s Arrest

According to intelligence sources, Wurgi’s detention has infuriated Turji, prompting a cascade of threats directed at village heads and local chiefs in the Shinkafi area. These threats include:

Retaliatory Attacks: Turji has reportedly warned of attacks on communities if Wurgi is not released by security agencies.
Leverage Through Resources: Turji has allegedly expressed his readiness to spend vast sums of money or utilize livestock under his control to secure Wurgi’s freedom.
Hostage Executions: Turji has threatened to kill hostages in his custody, who include residents of Isa, Sabon Birni, and Shinkafi, if his demands are not met.

Turji’s history of leveraging violence for negotiations is well-documented. Five years ago, a similar ultimatum led to the release of his ally, Dikko Chida, after he warned of severe consequences if his demands were ignored.

Potential Escalation

The latest threats have raised alarm among residents and authorities in the region. Turji’s network, which includes substantial human and material resources, makes his threats credible and dangerous. Intelligence sources suggest that if his demands are not met, Turji plans to disrupt peace across Sokoto and Zamfara, potentially plunging the region into chaos.

Government’s Dilemma

Wurgi’s arrest provides an opportunity for the government to weaken Turji’s operations and disrupt his bandit network. However, the authorities now face a critical decision: whether to stand firm and risk escalation or negotiate to avoid immediate violence.

Security experts believe the situation requires a calculated approach. While appeasing Turji may offer temporary relief, it risks emboldening him and other bandit leaders. Conversely, decisive action against Turji’s threats could dismantle his operations but might provoke short-term violence.

I hope you now know that the LGAC is now under FG jurisdiction and no longer under SG. The LG electoral laws have been properly amended finalized and all State Electoral Bodies have been abolished. Only the FG INEC is oga of all elections from bottom to top.
LGAC is not under the FG jurisdiction

The LG electoral laws is not yet amended and state electoral bodies are still active

A federal high court has no business with what's happening in the LG, only a state high court can look into it.

FG and INEC presently has no business with local government elections unless you can tell me when the national assembly made INEC be in charge of local government elections. LG is still under the state, they are only getting their money directly from the FG.

“2027 Is Not Atiku’s Year, He Should Wait Till 2031” – Joe Igbokwe | #Politicsnigeria

Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar cannot become Nigeria’s president in 2027.

Igbokwe, writing on his Facebook page, argued that Atiku’s presidential ambition for 2027 is unrealistic and advised him to wait until 2031.

He also pointed out that Atiku’s age could be a limiting factor in his pursuit of the presidency, adding that the 2027 election was unlikely to work in the Adamawa-born politician’s favour.

His words: “Former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is still struggling and dreaming to be president of Nigeria in 2027.

“It cannot fly, all things considered. He should wait till 2031. Even at that, age is not on his side.”

Igbokwe’s remarks come amid comments from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, who suggested that no one from the North should contest against President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
