West Bromwich Albion striker,Osaze Odemwingie made history by the scoring the fastest goal of the English Premier League (EPL) season so far.

Odemwingie capitalised on an error by Richard de Laert to open his account for the season and put his team 1-0 up after three minutes of play against Norwich City at Carrow Road on Sunday.

The ad-hoc committee of the House of Representatives currently investigating the alleged illegal concession agreement between the federal ministry of finance and Single Window Technologies Limited (SWT) has summoned minister of finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala to appear before it on Tuesday, 13 September.

The minister of finance failed to show up at her last summons, sending a letter instead, informing the panel that she had obtained permission from President Jonathan to suspend proceedings, pending the outcome of an investigation being carried out by the ministry.

Representative Leo Ogor, chairman of the panel, has said that Iweala must show up "unfailingly at 12 noon" to brief the committee and the ministry. She is also required to pay the cost of the day's proceedings.

He said that the investigation being conducted by the ministry cannot stall the investigations carried out by the House of Representatives.

Meanwhile the Nigeria Customs Service, and the Bureau of Public Procurement denied havign any knowlegde of the concession agreement until after the agreement had been signed. They also denied making any input into said concession agreement.

Men of the Lagos State Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, have foiled an attempt by a 21-year old housemaid, Chinansa Ozoemina, to kidnap her boss, John Ike Azota, a staff of an oil company in Aguda area of Surulere, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.Ozoemina was arrested alongside her boyfriend, Okoye Raphael,at their hideout.

Four other suspects, Chukwudi Ikeji, 21, Nwaokike Ugochukwu, 24, and Osondu Njoku, 26 and a man simply identified as Obiora were also nabbed in connection with the plot.

Ozoemina, initiated the ‘business’ when she informed her lover, Raphael, that his boss is a wealthy man and they would make millions of naira if he could be kidnapped.

It was gathered that unknown to the kidnappers, a police detective had infiltrated their group who played along with them.

They were arrested at their hideout and police commenced interrogation of the suspects immediately.After the completion of police investigation, the suspects will be arraigned in court.

Contrary to Ozoemina’s claim that she innitiated the kidnap plan, Raphael claimed that he actually did.
Raphael told P.M.NEWS: “I was dating Ozoemina. I told her that her boss is a millionaire so I asked her if we could kidnap her boss, would he pay and she said yes.

Maputo — South Africa continues to hold a commanding lead in the medals table at the 10th All-Africa Games in Maputo, winning 100 of the 314 medals that had been awarded by Sunday morning.

Most of these medals come from the swimming events. South African athletes won 74 of the 135 medals awarded for swimming.

Algeria remains in second position in the medals table with 36, followed by Tunisia with 32 and Egypt with 22.

Ghana has only 2 bronze, both from boxing
