I just read this thread https://www.nairaland.com/5014024/why-pray-candle and I'm in awe of Nigerians. Seems to me that we don't even understand this religion thing we're always carrying on our heads in this country. See 'Christians' castigating the doctrines of the church due to ignorance. If you do not know something, why not Google it? Or at least stfu and chill for a learned person to educate you? This attitude of "I must comment on a topic, even if I don't understand any of it" is plain sad and pathetic.
On the matter at hand. The early Christians were persecuted by the Jews, and the Roman government at some point in time. They therefore conducted services whilst hiding in dark caves, with the aid of candle light for illumination.
This practice is what today's Churches try to commemorate. It is not diabolical, it is not juju. Educate yourself. Thank you
Yuceeluv: Believe what you see on social media at your own peril.
Because he went broke INDEED!
Pity your present networth and leave my future hubby outta this.
I'll never understand why trolls like you assume everyone on Nairaland is poor. I sincerely hope you don't alienate your helper one day with this your attitude. Stay safe Yucee.
Yuceeluv: Because he is broke abi because he is a beast.
I pray now and always, for me and my loved ones, to never ever be married to a monster.
I get it that you want to take sides with the woman, because you are one yourself. But can you people be objective for once? How can someone run with my four kids for months and I'll see her and leave her alone? Fam she must produce those kids or we both die there. And you're saying it's okay that she left because the man went broke? Jesus Christ. I honestly pity the man you'll marry.
You guys. I found this video quite interesting. Forget the ignorance of oyinbo about Africa and African countries and listen to the fat man describing Nigerians living in Houston.
HannahHitler: You were not born so, you chose to be so and I'm happy you went back to being who you are but don't you dare force that on all of us.
Some of us were born this way, since we were kids, we knew.
Dozens of reactions on this comment, not a single positive one. Its always the ones who don't know shit that have the most to say. Talmbout nobody was born gay. Sigh
AyLuxury: I just got an info from BY Mafit that the next available test date for GRE in Lagos is November 5th. I wonder what's wrong. I was actually hoping to take the test and submit my result before Spring admission dealine which is Nov 2nd.

Hello I'm sorry I don't have the answers to the questions you posed guy I need to ask you a few questions. Can you text me on Whatsapp? "080eight 5 seveneight 12 oneseven" it's really important please.
EncephalonPikin: Thumbs up on the great work going on here. Two years back, I was seeking help concerning undergraduate admission into U.S schools and I was advised by Walspring and Lagosismyhome at the time(i.e @ part 10 of this thread). I was 16 then and I was seeking full-time ride scholarships as my parents aren't financially buoyant. I was told I had to score high on the SAT cos my high school GPA isn't so impressive(3.38) while my waec GPA is 3.33, unfortunately I performed poorly(1150/1600). I went on to apply in an attempt to see what could happen, I got admitted into some colleges (Elmira college, University of New Hampshire,Unity college,University of Southern Mississippi, St John's College- can't remember the rest),with insufficient scholarships. The highest fund I got was from Elmira College, a $108,000 presidential scholarship but the school was too expensive as I still had $27000+ to pay per year and I didn't have a dime. I got other minor scholarships from other schools but they were all less than $20000. I tried again last year since I learnt that SAT validity was 5 years but I kinda knew it was a futile attempt. I desire to retake the SAT but there are no funds. I am now 18 and in a Nigerian University(200L currently studying an Engineering course) and I still have desire to go through the process once more. Will it be better to count my losses and try again when I graduate(i.e MSC) or do I keep hoping a break-through would come somewhere and I'll be able to retake the SAT? Thanks for your time CC: Bigfrancis21, walspring, lagosismyhome and other well meaning nairalanders...
Honestly bro, I would advise you to take your current studies like your life depends on it. Like if you don't study people are gonna kill you in cold blood. Read until your eyes fall out. Seek leadership positions, make the most of your time here and graduate with great grades. I personally feel it's better to go to US on a Master's than as an undergrad.
PS I wish someone had told me this when I was in year 2. Oh well.
Temitayo1949: This is my present situation bothering me ... I need advise... Now my girlfriend told me last week she is pregnant...Prior to this have been only thinking to apply as a single applicant... Though am about to enter the pool based on the Ielts results that was released today... Both Mothers and Child are not accompanying for now.... Please I need advise on what to do and how this will affect my PR application....As I don't want to be a victim of misrepresentations...
And coupled with the fact that she may likely give birth during the PR review process....
Please Advise... Thank you
My gf also told me last week that she's pregnant. Congratulations. Small world. Hope her name is not Sandra sha, light-skinned, tall girl like this?
Ifeoma77: Ahhhhh welcome brother Paroh, I have been waiting for your post, the Lord preinformed me of your arrival. He said I should tell you to rest your weary eyes for two days. Then on Monday 2nd September, sit on your favourite chair, keep fried goatmeat on your right hand side and cold mountain dew on your left hand side, then open page one and start reading. Hallelujah brother, you shall surely land in Canny.
Ps. After reading, page one and you still have questions, mention me and I'll gladly answer Welcome bro

Good evening everyone. I'm new here, however the Lord sent me to this thread, said I should ask for ifeoma77 specifically. He mentioned other names but I no remember again. I want to know how possible it'll be to get EE considering I don't have a BSc in my field (Computer Software Programming) and no certifications cos I learned on my own. How do I increase my chances of making it? Or are there other channels of entering Canada other than EE that are viable for me? Also I'm 25. What is this ielts y'all speak of?
Please don't tell me to start reading from page 1,I've been reading travel threads since Wednesday my eyes are about to fall out. Please. I beg you guys.
Flaame: I think it is possibl. Well,if it is paper reg, time still d. But how much preparation have you made? That is the most wimportant thing.
I took SAT in 2010 back when it was 2400 so I know the basics, but I've been brushing up since last month by reading GRE preparation text. Just reading and writing parts sha cos English is my weak point. I'll see if I can make it before then, else I'll go for November. Please what would you recommend, is it better I register with an agent or I do it myself online? Do I get to choose the venue I want? Thanks
Please can anyone help me with SAT materials? I'll come to anywhere in Lagos to collect it please. Plus I want to take SAT in October. Is it too late to register?
