I have seen several post online support the strike saying the government has abandoned the public universities and the lack of facilities to run the schools is the reason for the strike, and that automatically mean one thing(that after the strike there will be enough facilities right??). Yea that's what ASUU want Nigerians to believe just to get the support and sympathy of the masses, but the real truth is been camouflaged. I recently started following this ASUU stuff and all i have been hearing is ARREARS,ARREARS and MORE ARREAS, i never heared of chemistry department at UI lacks standard apparatus and we need cash to fix them, all i have been hearing are stuffs that has to do with their own pocket. I saw a big banner at one of the institution with "join ASUU strike STOP SLAVE LABOUR" written bodly, That was the final nail on the coffin that finally convinced me that the strike was not for the benefit of the students as ASUU is making you guys believe. If you still have doubts about this, why do you think that Delsu pulled out of the body If it was a body beneficial would schools be clamouring to pull out?? Are you aware that some schools are pulling out of the strike too Those are schools that have the interest of students at heart, not the ASUU body that is all out for their pocket. They are threatening with fee increment,but i still dont know how to matchup how their current fight for arrears affects the fee been paid in schools,and these schools won't talk about what they get from the government yearly,they only come out to yap when they need some brown envelopes!!! I did not write this to support the Government, but to tell you guys that ASUU is a scam, and the welfare of the Nigerian student is the least thing on their mind!! I just wonder how one mean lecture will care about students that they treat like beast!

From Thursday, 17th January, 2019, workers at the Ladoke
Akintola University of Technology will begin what they described
as ‘3-day on, 2-day off’ strike model.
A statement signed by the secretary of the joint action council,
Comrade Fajoye Hamzat, disclosed that the strike became
imperative as “the management has once again started staggered
payment of salaries and allowances,” adding that “You will
recollect that it was this same method that brought us to the level
of being owed part of 2016 and 2017 salaries.”
He added that workers in the University have resorted to “fine and
decent baara* style to make ends meet.”
STATE OF AFFAIRS IN LAUTECH: JAC POSITION
It becomes imperative to inform our teeming members the state
of affairs with regards to our numerous demands from the
university management and the governing council.
You will all recalled that at the last JAC Congress, our agreement
was to write the management informing them of our requests
and expectations.
To also give them 7-day ultimatum as directed by the Congress.
The ultimatum has expired on Sunday, January 13, 2019 without
any expected positive action from the management.
As was noted at the Congress, the management has once again
started staggered payment of salaries and allowances. You will
recollect that it was this same method that brought us to the level
of being owed part of 2016 and 2017 salaries,balance of 68 hours
Earned Allowances, Responsibility allowances, 90 per cent of
2012/2013 promotion arrears and arrears of promotion from
2013/2014 to date. The management jumped the payment
September 2016 deductions only to pay October 2018 deductions,
which was paid last week.
This arrangement is making it hard to calculate the real amount of
outstanding amount of salaries and allowances.
With the present situation, many of our members are seeking
solace in ‘fine and decent baara’ style to make ends meet.
Our continuous coming to work is becoming hard and harsh
which is making it more harder and harrowing for a lot of us. In
the technical sense, the university is gradually locking us
(employees) out.
Arising from the above observations, the JAC executive council
met today, Monday, January 14,2019 to evaluate the situations on
the campus vis-à-vis the report of the meeting with LAUTECH
Alumni and the reply of JAC letter dated January 3,2019 to the
management and resolved as follows:
1. That all members of JAC comprising of SSANU,NAAT and NASU
LAUTECH Branch are hereby directed to stay at home from
Thursday, January 17, 2019 and to resume to JAC congress on
Monday, January 21, 2019 by 8.00am at MKO LT, LAUTECH for
further directive;
2. That the JAC leadership arrived at the decision above when we
convinced that the payment of November and December 2018
salaries are not at sight hence our decision to relief our members
from the burden of borrowing money to transport themselves to
their offices and with the little one available to them will be able to
sustain them to come to office for three days in a week and keep
their bodies and souls; and
3. This industrial action of three days ON and two days OFF (i.e.
ON on Monday to Wednesday and OFF on Thursday and Friday
every week) shall be in place until we are manifestly convinced
that management is ready to accede to our demands as contained
in our letter dated January 3_2019.

Like I said previously, You know nothing of what you are saying, The lecturers are also affected by the strike, because they will have to do what they haven't done, rush things up and of course they'll have more workload so that they will not overstretch the school Calendar and stuffs.

Who told you the lecturers are happy to teach with outdated and obsolete devices or facilities? I don't know which school you attend, but in my school, they don't construct lecture theatres they will not make use of. It's the duty of the vice chancellors through other non teaching staffs to maintain the facilities/ lecture halls and not the duty of the lecturers, Lecturers teach / hold practicals all day, give tests/ Exams and mark the scripts of over 100 students with their hands and as if their work is not enough, you still want them to maintain lecture halls for you? you are pathetic.

I admit, the lecturers have flaws, the students also have, It's the duty of the FG to fund public Universities, because of the rot in the universities, ASUU goes on strike Annually to forcefully get the funds from the FG, but the Federal government are always reluctant to do so. You should blame the government and not the lecturers. And next time, get your facts right before you come online to spill trash, besides your opinion is Inconsequential

People like you are the reason why students are extorted year in year out. If they cannot do the job then they simply step down, these lecturers are in their comfort zones and only a few make efforts towards the improvement of their institution, what happen to the thesis that students are forced to write year in year out And you say they are not confortable using outdated stuffs.... The truth is they dont really care, after all it is government property, go to hostels, people live like dogs, who cares, after all the children of our great Demi gods wont live there any way!!! And have u forgotten that most of those lecturers incharge of affairs like management and maintenance of facilities do have lecturers assistants? Or is it the one that is busy failing students for not spreading their legs for him that will now have time to think of the welfare of students You should check on LOCO PARENTIS, thats what lecturers ought to be to their students!
