Raphinha is a top player, the man for the big occasion...If he wasn't out injured for sometime, I am sure he'd already be on double digits for goals and assist if he isn’t already.

Changing the manager is one of the things to do.

Another thing to do is improving our scouting, player identification and general assessment of players.

The scouting of some of these average players might make a lot of sense to a fan who has his own job to do but watches Man United weekly and checks YouTube highlights of a player or watches the player a couple of times a season. Very importantly, it is not the fan’s duty to assess the player.

When we keep buying players that appear not good enough then it is reasonable to ask for more from the staff members whose job it is to study and analyse these players for days, weeks, months before we decide to buy them and the staff whose job it is to approve the deals.

I don’t get what you don’t understand about us improving our assessment of players in addition to changing underperforming managers. We can do both at the same time. It is not an either or issue.
For me, I think we need to first decide if we want to sign players to fit into what a coach wants or the designated system the club intends to adopt in the long run. Looking at Cunha and Mbeumo, they do not look like out and out wingers rather inverted forwards, their signings favors the systems Amorim plays but in a 4-3-3, I don't think they'll be that effective (Mbeumo can still do a job though)...

But that is exactly what you just said. You said people should criticise the player before he is bought rather than criticising him after he has played for us.

It should concern you as a fan if the club replaces an average player with another average player. It should concern you as a fan if the club replaces a mediocre manager with another mediocre manager.

It tells you that we are not going to get better anytime soon.
Most of the players we buy are players who did well enough at their previous clubs that made it seem like a reasonable decision. The signing of Cunha and Mbeumo made a whole lot of sense back when they were brought in, a lot of fans felt it was a good decision seeing that we were getting good supporting cast with EPL experience. Cunha is not doing as well as we expected right now but that is down to the benefit of hindsight, you can't start questioning the board when it appeared the reasonable move to make at the time...In fact, it has been a recurring problem for sometime, we sign a good player and he gets here and struggles. As a manager (board), you can't keep changes players especially when we are not getting the cash that comes with playing in the UCL...The only option is to change the manager while sustaining reasonable investment in the team...

Where did you get that law from. If a player is trash you have a right to say he is thrash. Whether the previous player was thrash is inconsequential.

Otherwise we can as well say that you can’t say ETH is thrash because you were criticising Ole. Or you can’t say Amorim is thrash because you were criticising ETH. Or you can’t say INEOS is thrash cos you were criticising Woodward.

You assess each situation on its merits. Even the club management who made the mistake and replaced thrash player with thrash player sometimes concede that player 2 is thrash and bin him, why can’t fans do the same when it wasn’t the fans who made the mistake.
So, what is the basis for always mentioning players who majority here agreed were not good enough everything a new player has a bad game?

I am not saying you should not criticise a new player but making reference to a player that was here previously makes no sense especially when that same player was considered not good enough.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 8:06pm On Jan 11
The club shouldn't have sacked Amorim but you turn around to blame the club for the recent departures engineered by none other than Amorim. You talk about Rashford in comparison to Cunha but forget that Amorim is the person that pushed him out. If the board had backed Rashford, you guys would have complained...

How about Dalot who we all agree is bad but Amorim kept faith with him, should the board have done otherwise?

His unceremonious dismissal remains a bitter pill in their mouths and has somewhat resulted in a sickness they might never recover from grin

Away from obsession with their failed manager, what are your thoughts on the game today?

Disappointing performance, i must say.

As it is, we just need to manage to grind out results till the end of the season.

Some transfers have not worked out the way we expected
At the bolder, this is what we should just accept and move on instead of pointing fingers.

I did not celebrate Ugarte. I actually warned that he was severely limited.

Apart from that it is ingenuous of you to expect fans to properly assess a player from YouTube highlights or 1-2 games they have seen of a player compared to when the player is playing week in week out for their team.

Having said that, even from the YouTube highlights it was clear to some that Ugarte was thrash but you championed him here. That goes to show you that nobody is infallible. Fans are allowed to change their minds on a player when they get more data on the player.
Are you sure you're following the argument? You can't start saying a player is bad now because you have the benefit of hindsight when he was signed to replace a player you said said was bad. You might not have supported his purchase but you supported that of Sancho before and he came in and struggle.

My point is not to say that people shouldn't be happy over a new signing but that you should not say a new signing is trash compared to the player he replaced when you were here criticising the ex-player while he was here. An instance here is Hojlund who was heavily criticised when he was here, with majority supporting that he should be moved on. Imagine seeing people saying Sesko is not better than Hojlund as if anyone could have predicted same when Sesko was signed.

At some point Amorim's fanboys have to accept that he's gone. He won't be coming back. No point referring to him anymore. Time to look forward.
As simple as ABC. We should be looking at our options for the interim role instead of reading posts from those sympathetic to Amorim...
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 7:40pm On Jan 11
But it was Amorim that saw Dalot and added him to the group of leaders in the team. Amorim didn't waste time to move Hojlund along but he stuck with Dalot.

The fingers you people are pointing in defence of Amorim is still pointing at Amorim...

Can you swear with your life that Ugarte is better than Fred?
This is what the benefit of hindsight can do...When McFred was here, we all said they were not good enough for the club. I'd like for people to give their honest opinion when a player is bought and not come here months later to lament when in all honesty, they celebrated the purchase of the player when he arrived.

Yes. Sesko is better than Cavani. Ugarte is better than Fred and McTom
Cavani that was here on a short stint? Maybe we should review comments when Fred and McTom were sold and when the new signings were bought.

Cunha and Dorgu, tbh - those 2 signings no try at all
Cunha is doing all that because he feels there's no one to replace him.

Mount should compete with him for a starting spot just as Malacia should be given an opportunity to nail down that LB spot. Dorgu has had his chances and fluffed it.

Hopefully, the same thing happens on the right when Mazraoui gets back. Dalot is just brainless.

He had Maguire in front of him to pass the ball to.

Malacia should be given an opportunity too, let Dorgu know his place in the starting 11 is not guaranteed.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 7:25pm On Jan 11
We have seen it before with Van Gaal, Ole and now, Amorim. The fans will complain about a coach but once he is axed, a section of the fan base will start asking why he wasn't given more time.

The other day, I saw people saying the players we brought in a worse than the ones we let go and I shook my head. People are so forgetful on here.

The club are assessing their options for an interim appointment but those who are bitter that Amorim was rightly axed won't rest.

Let them hurry up and get an interim coach in abeg. Ugarte will receive the ball from the defender and return it back because he can't turn.

Remove Cunha for Lacey and push Mount to the right.

Ugarte should always make way for Casemiro.
