MRTA7: He was never relegated. he was announced as Head Coach by the club in all official communications and was always listed as Head Coach. I think that infamous presser, he said he came here as the manager and not head coach. |

eph12: He was sacked when he spoke up, and not because of poor results. I guess he should have spoken up last summer and gotten the sack before the season even started Any manager who knows what he is doing would not sit back and watch his employers change the terms of a contract midway through his engagement. In Amorim’s case, however, he is not without blame. We expected the club to move on from the likes of Shaw, Mount, Casemiro, Maguire, and others who were either not good enough or too injury-prone. Instead, Amorim came in and immediately took to Mount like a father to a son, constantly reminding us that Mount is a manager’s delight. The same Amorim made Dalot one of the team leaders and a guaranteed starter. So, who exactly is to be blamed? When we received a very good offer for Bruno, Amorim was quoted by Bruno as saying he wanted him to stay at the club, which was one of the factors that convinced Bruno to reject a move to Saudi Arabia. What about Maguire and Casemiro? It was still Amorim who pushed for their continued retention. Now I ask: how exactly do you expect us to keep these players on high wages and still go on to spend money on new players? Take our defence, for instance. We have Maguire, De Ligt, Licha, Heaven, Yoro, and Shaw, all capable of playing at centre-back. That is five to six players for the CB position, even though we are not participating in any European competition. The same thing would have happened in midfield if we had signed additional players to add to the ones we already have. Mainoo hardly got a look in, yet Amorim blocked his exit from the club. I now understand why the board were keen to relegate him from manager to head coach, but he believed he was good enough to be the manager rather than just a head coach. |

I don't understand some posts here.
I am certain that 90% of fans here wanted us to strengthen the midfield. TrebleChamp and I pushed for Amorim should speak out if the board failed to bring in a midfielder or two, but he came out to praise the midfielders he had. In fact, instead of moving some of them on, he decided to keep them. Whose fault is it? Amorim got here and started singing the praises of Mount, a player who finally let him down at a very crucial stage.
Even when we moved for a midfielder, the price was outrageous. It was here that a lot of folks barked at the price, but now y'all are asking why the board didn't sign a midfielder. Should we have paid the asking price for Baleba or sold the midfielders we had against the wishes of Amorim to fund new purchases in midfield?
If we had sold Bruno and let Casemiro leave to get new midfielders, I am sure you guys would still blame the board for it... |

Jamiuokolaa: We have a selection headache already
Tbh, Amad doesnt deserve to go to the bench but like you have said, it would be hard to fit him in..especially when everyone is fit.
Cunha's place also needs to be analysed, especially if/when Bruno is fit.
His current qualities might not suit us on the LHS of the attack. We are short of numbers and quality on that side of the pitch...I wish Amad or Mbeumo can comfortably play form there. |

Bombblacks: De ligt has been our best defender this season before his injury. When everyone is fit De ligt and Martinez/Heaven. True that, De Ligt was our best defender before he picked up that injury. I expect a lot of good things from a possible partnership with Martinez in defence... |

Bombblacks: This is bold. Why would Amad start ahead of our best attacker this season? Amad will unfortunately go to the bench and be useful as a 2nd half option. To be honest, Amad starting in place of Mbeumo won't have a lot of folks raising their eye brows, he has been that good too. Hopefully, the new coach finds a way to fit the both into his plans... |

Jamiuokolaa: Despite the need to strengthen (probably in the summer TW), our current squad should be doing way better, considering the fact that we are in just one competition.
Did you watch the game vs Wolves? For me, we even escaped defeat in that match.
How can 10 man everton cop 3 points at Old Trafford, despite our numerical advantage that lasted more than 80 mins or so?
Things like this cant be happening and all we would be talking about is strengthening the squad I am done with the back and forth. Everything we wrote is in simple English. |

afrodoc2: Maybe you are bringing twitter and internet issues here. I don’t think people here said sacking him was the wrong decision. What has been said is that it is not yet Uhuru.
I personally am not moved by sackings anymore. Until I see how the club is moving in terms of new manager appointments and squad building. The last 2 sackings (which were all richly deserved) have made us worse. We need to get the appointment after the sacking right. That is the crucial point being made. You must have missed a few posts, and nobody is saying it is Uhuru, but at least Amorim is out. Let us wait and see what the board does next. |

engrelvis: Fletcher as interim coach..lol.From frying pan to fire.Amorim is far better than him What formation does Fletcher prefer? Have you watched a team coached by him before? If not, you should calm down. He is only here on an interim basis, meaning he might only be the coach for a game or two, or maybe until the season ends. I didn't see this much drama on the Chelsea thread when Maresca was sacked and a coach I have never heard of was announced as the man to lead them to the Etihad to take on City. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 12:57pm On Jan 05 |
nitrogen: Fletcher is taking over on an interim basis, no? They did not say he will be here until summer. It’s the blogs saying he will ‘likely’ be. Won’t there be an interim for the next few games until another manager is appointed? I don't know what the fuss is about. Let us wait for when a manager or head coach will be appointed permanently before we start dissecting the decision of the board. |

odizeey: I'm not okay with the performance. Meaning that we could be higher up the table if the team does better. This is what I am saying. We are still lacking in certain departments but we have a squad that should at least perform better and pick up more points. As I highlighted several posts back, losing against 10-man Everton, picking one point against Wolves, West Ham and Leeds is unacceptable... |

afrodoc2: They are tunnel-vision people.
With every sacking things appear to get worse. Even this interim appointment of Fletcher dey risky. He has been coaching for less than 6 months.
The first thing I did when I hear the news was to go to check out points in the table to make sure say relegation no dey possible this season again.
Like I always say, the sacking of a coach is not the main issue but the appointment of the replacement is where we stumble. We also need to improve in squid building.
The only manager left that I have some hope in is Nagelsmann but he is another philosophy king. With the last 2 appointments, those philosophers don dey scare me. Let's wait until they appoint a permanent replacement before we start debating whether or not they got it right. I was one of those who first kicked against the appointment of Fletcher when someone shared the news here. Do I have to keep saying before it becomes clear I would've preferred a more experienced coach on the interim? My point is simple, the decision to sack Amorim is right...What happens next is open for debate... |

INEOS brought in people with the right credentials to run the club but now, we are back to square one, you guys are now complaining that the very appointments you celebrated here have ruined the club...So Amorim was not the problem after all?

nitrogen: Some are saying the poor results are due to squad planning etc. Na the board injure 5 key players? Who decided to play the same set of players without thinking about the implications of some of the starting 11 not available? What was the result when we had the full squad available?
The current squad should be top 2/3 based on what’s happening in the league today. Liverpool is having a poor season by their standards. Arsenal, City, Villa, Pool, and Chelsea all have European commitments, yet they are ahead of us on the table. We were knocked out of the Carabao cup by Grimsby Town in our first game of the competition, yet we are still below a struggling Chelsea and Liverpool... |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 12:36pm On Jan 05 |
odizeey: I don't want to argue. If you believe this squad is an EPL challenging squad then good for you. Who talked about EPL challenging here? The squad is clearly good enough to play better and pick up more points. We are out of the Carabao Cup, not playing in any continental competition yet we keep getting outplayed and outrun by teams who have European engagements to keep up with. No team with ambition will accept dropping points to Everton, Wolves, West Ham and Leeds in a space of a month or so... |

If una never start division una body no go rest. You're just imagining things and running along with it. My post is clearly directed at those who are questioning the sack. odizeey: No coach is coming to perform magic.
Club should give them right tools.
I'm sha tired of this sacking and hiring that's not yielding anything.
Get me Ancelotti, Conte or any coach that has the winning mindset.
No go dey give me Xavi or any of those newbies.
If not, na the same thing all over.
At this point we need to start playing consistently in the UCL. Get a coach that can guarantee you that. When everything is stable you can get your young coach to build from there. If we try am go get those younglings na hot tears. Bro, are you serious that we don't have the right tools this season? If we have all our players back like we have had for the most part of the season, do we look bad lined up in a 4-3-3? Amorim insisted on a formation that was supposed to ensure we were solid at the back but it was counter-productive yet he stuck with it. If Fletcher lines us up in a 4-3-3 like what I have below, we will make light work of most teams in the league... ....................................Lammens........................................... Dalot/Mazraoui..De Ligt/Maguire/Yoro...Licha/Shaw/Heaven...Dorgu/Shaw/Malacia Mainoo/Mount........Casemiro/Ugarte......Bruno/Zirkzee Mbeumo/Amad.........Sesko/Zirkzee.........Cunha/Mount Whilst I agree that the squad can be improved on, you can't argue that if properly set up and managed, they're few teams in the league with better squad depth and overall quality. |
