elampiro: When last did you see superior technique from Mata? What exactly has those starting over him done for them to be played ahead of him, superior physique? Is that all at this level? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 10:45am On Nov 06, 2017 |
elampiro: The truth is Mata is not as strong as those boys and doesn't have half their speed. Mata has also been in poor form.
If Mata is in form, we could play him and Blind to help Mkhitaryan with passing. Our technical play was good in the start of the season when Mata, Blind, Pogba and Mkhitaryan were on the field together. Although Blind left a hole behind him most times. But at the same time, what he lacks in physicality, he makes up for it with superior technique. I am so sure if Pep was our coach, he'd be fielding a team that has Martial, Mhkitaryan, Mata, Herrera, Rashford and we'd be playing excellent attacking football. Mourinho has to approach big games with a mindset to win, we should stop trying to contain other teams, let them worry about us, I am so sure most opposition players fear Martial, Rashford and the likes but Mou set's up to contain them rather than make them ulter their plans to deal with our attacking threat. If Mou was to coach Barca and they came up against Palace, he'd tell Messi, 'hey look, this is Zaha, he is very dangerous, you need to track back to limit his effectiveness'... |

elampiro: Sometimes coaches get their tactics wrong. It happened to us yesterday. Mourinho always want to 'nullify' Hazard.
I didn’t watch first half yesterday, but I saw the highlight. In the second half there was so much policing of Chelsea players around the field such that we lost shape at the back. Jones got his yellow card marking Hazard high up the field. Bailly also went high up many times to tackle. Smalling too went high but did some neat jobs going out of position, although in two occasions from the highlights, Jones and Bailly covered for him.
We have to stop thinking Chelsea have superior players than us. With this match we have given them psychological advantage over us after we beat them last season.
The last minutes of the match revealed we could have played better. But I have a feeling Mourinho told himself that if we must lose to Chelsea, the scoreline must not be high. Last season when we lost heavily to Chelsea, we played some good football.
That's the issue, why wait till the damage has been done before you unleash your players, our performance when we are a goal down against big teams is also different, we seem to play better, now does it mean Mou's tactics hampers our attack and he only seems to let us play when the chips are down? |

kelvinze: Mata wasn't among the substitute bench. Can you imagine? Mou thinks Mata isn't physically suited to go up against that Chelsea team but across the street is Pep doing wonders with players of similar stature...For Mou, it's all about physicality... |

That we lost isn't the ish, I'm yet to understand what our game plan was all about, we weren't attacking with any conviction nor were we resolute in defence, Chelsea had us split open time after time as it was obvious our center backs didn't know who they were supposed to mark...Mou shouldn't have waited till we were a goal down to alter the formation and personnel, he could have been more proactive...Mhkitaryan has been serving us shiit or rather served us shiit for the entirety of the first half, why persist with him when you have an arguably better player in Mata on the bench. Very poor performance today. |

kelvinze: 3-4-1-2 formation we used against spurs and trust me if we approach the game like we did against spurs,We will certainly come out on top BUT until mourinho decided to launch an all attacking display at the bridge, imma go for a 1-1 draw We just need the man who will be tasked with linking the midfield and attack to be on song, Mhkitaryan can not afford to play below standard, we need him in top form |

SailorXY: 3-5-2 Bailly -Smalling- Jones in -3- Lukaku-Rashford/Martial/Lingard in -2-
.. & it's a win. Lingard isn't in my equation, I am okay with the defensive line, Lukaku and Rashford to start since Martial got the nod against Benfica. |

Just like Rooney But they're doing a job against top quality opposition on the biggest of stages as you would say...So, what's your argument against them, you are quick to highlight the poor performances of Zabaleta in a mid-table team, seeing how Kolarov has nailed down that left back spot and how Dzeko is performing for club and country, shouldn't we also give them props and perhaps shouldn't it also count against your logic? |

pharod: Even with everybody fit, I don't think we will be seeing Rashford and Martial start as often as we would have hoped. Unless Ibra drops to the bench. I assume the coach will always want to have a game changer on the bench incase things don't go as planned and sadly, Mickie n Mata ain't that. They are arguably better as starters. Maybe with Ibra back, we will have that game changer from the bench... |

"My only concern about Mourinho is that he seems to be distracted by the so-called critics out there. He is probably paid eight, nine or ten million pounds a year so focus on your own job. Rise above that. He should be better than that, but he seems to be easily upset. Shut up and get on with your job. You are getting very well paid for it."
"As for man city blowing teams away? My only concern for City is that I still think it is in their DNA as a club to mess things up. They have been previous times where we have got carried away with City, but they will take some stopping this year."
"Now for liverpool? It’s hard to figure out Liverpool at the moment. It’s hard to get excited about them. For me they are going nowhere fast and come the end of the season when the prizes are being handed out Liverpool will be nowhere near. I think if they were playing in my back garden I wouldn’t watch them. Let's be honest they are going nowhere. At the back, there are question marks over the goalkeeper, the defenders. I don’t have too much to say about Liverpool."

Baldg: Madrid has replacements in all departments. I think its the problem of scoring they have. They create enough chances..
I get your point but that's what I think it is. Replacement of lower quality, who replaced James's goals and assist, who replaced Pepe, his leadership and crucial goals, Who replaced Morata whose goals proved pivotal in the league last season? and for all his talent, Achimi still has a lot to learn at the top level, Danilo would have done a job...I think Madrid were arrogant not to have replaced those that departed. |

Oasis007: Perreira plays mostly on the Wing at Valencia. He was playing on the left wing at the beginning of the Season, but in their last Match, he played on the right Wing.
I hope he continues developing his Game on the right Wing, and hopefully comes back to fix the RW Problem the Team is having this Season.
I think he already knows it will be difficult for him to play Matches for United as an AM, DM or CM, hence going out on Loan to develop himself as a Winger ain't a bad Decision in my Opinion. He is better on the left from what I have seen but I hope he develops his game to function as a CM |

That McTominay guy looks very composed, not your flashy and silky CM but he gets the job done, with more game time and experience, he will definitely become a huge asset for us, it's a shame Pereira left for Valencia as this would have been the perfect opportunity for him to do it at the biggest stage cos at this rate he might comeback next season and find himself behind Scott. |

raumdeuter: Lol Lets not deceive ourselves here. Its harder to build move on, start from the scratch elsewhere build again move on than to stay in a familiar environment for 30yrs
In your job which is harder staying in a company for 30yrs or moving around to different companies and cultures. Fergie stayed long and won 2 CL titles. Its not like he was lighting up the continent by staying long. Zidane, Mourinho Guardiola all won the same 2 in a fraction of the time
What is hard in staying at the top when your only serious opponent was Arsene Wenger? Whilst it's true that getting to the top of your game ain't an easy task, maintaining your position at the top is a whole ball game entirely and that's why coaches like Pep, Mou and others always move on after achieving so much success or are shown the door after doing so well...There's a reason first bank is preferred by many, they've been there, seen it all conquered and are still in the business of winning...Zidane, Mou and Pep are equally good and deserving of the praises that go their way but the fact they won it at a fraction of the years it took Fergie doesn't in anyway belittle the achievement of SAF... Now to your last line, peak Wenger and Arsenal were definitely a team to be reckoned with and he/they didn't represent Fergie's only competitors, he won trophies even with Roman's billions at Chelsea, Mansour at City, Rafa's Liverpool etc |

Maybe if Trapatoni, LvG stayed in a club for over 20yrs that happened to be one of the richest in Europe they would be knighted Well, I think it's even more difficult to reach the apex of the game and try to stay there than going from one top team to another. What Fergie did with Man Utd was/is stuff of legends and no matter how much you try, you can't belittle his achievements. To stay so long in a club must mean you're doing well. |

CapitalCee: 1 The game is won by the team who commits fewer errors.
2 Football favours whoever provokes more errors in the opposition.
3 Away from home, instead of trying to be superior to the opposition, it’s better to encourage their mistakes.
4 Whoever has the ball is more likely to make a mistake.
5 Whoever renounces possession reduces the possibility of making a mistake.
6 Whoever has the ball has fear.
7 Whoever does not have it is thereby stronger.
