raumdeuter: In addition to the world most expensive player Man utd would have the best player from french, Italian and German league
First thing you consider in player transfer is their playing ability everything else is subjective. Suarez is very low in marketability yet if you are to buy him today he would probably break world records
Another example is Bale till last Sunday he was the most expensive player yet might not make top 10 most marketable actually according to this website he is 9th below Gotze(a club and national benchwarmer) in marketability
http://repucom.net/europes-top-10-most-marketable-footballers/
Infact from the site Gotze is the top 2 most marketable Bayern player yet doesnt make Bayern team
Several instances have proven that 1 major signing is better than 7 minor signings You can ask AVB and Tottenham or Arsenal who signed 6 players in 2 days after chopping 8-2 from Manure. Or Liverpool under Brendan Rodgers. Better to buy one master than 7 dross Denilson, Kaka, Ibra at Barca, Torres and Shevchenko at Chelsea and many others on the other side of the divide say hi raumdeuter. |

So why the argument in the first place? As we all know, Gundogan is just as good when fit, Nolito has been excellent all this years for Celta Vigo, Sane announced hoimself on the big scene by single handedly threatening to dump R. Madrid out of the UCL, the guy from Brazil, Gabriel Jesus is just about the best player in the Brazilian league, only questionable signing is Stones which is even debatable so what exactly is your point? |

kokaneprodigy: boo boo boo, bay bay bay, bla bla bla. You trying so hard to sound intelligent but u still coming out dull. Apart from the record signing, he signed two other players for over 30M each, coupled with the fact that Ibra is on a wage of well over 200k weekly, Pogba is on that as well. Two very high profile signings were gotten by him this season alone. Need I add that Mou has over 5yrs EPL experience? You mean manure did all these so MOU could go trophyless?
Before u counter me, u must be able to tell me any of Peps signings that are of higher profile in football than Pogba and Ibra, secondly, any of his signings that will earn over 200k weekly. Let me add, that if Mou wins any trophy it won't be seen as due to tactics or skill we'll always remember he got Ibra and a record signing. You don't get record signings to go trophyless. All things being equaled, I'm not one that responds to lesser mortals (In this case, an Arsenal Fan) but let me dignify you with a response today, the talk of players transfer fees as well as weekly wage has been put to rest a long time ago, dunno why you're still in the business of dragging back, may be it's the only way you have to look to see Arsenal was once a potent force, at least in the EPL... The talk of high profile players and the fees they command doesn't cut it at all, we all saw Greece win the Euros in 2004, your useless club go unbeaten through a season with players that didn't believe 200k a week was a reality, A. Madrid have been doing well without spending heavily, Leicester City recently lend their voice to the argument etc so why are you still clutching on? Something should suffice, don't you think? |

raumdeuter: I can spend 120M at say 25M each on 5 young players, Would you say I would have the same expectations as Someone who spent 110M on a player?
I was expecting those who have followed football for a while to know this isnt the case. WHen you break a world record a new form of expectation is on you
Like saying the expectation on a Man who buys 1 Buggati for 35M and one who buys 6 cars toyota, Honda, Nissan, Kia, Hyundai, Volkswagen at 6M each. The one who buys 6 cars people go say he try, But the one who buys 1 Buggatti has made a statement and expectations would be higher on him
or for your area you dey carry Sikira Nkechi, Bose Adaora and Fatima compared to your guy wey just carry Zahra Buhari In football, today's football at least, the marketability of a player is always a factor in his pricing as is his footballing abilities...So, your analogy is already showing lines of fault. As per your first line, if you spend 25m on five good players, I'd say that's a better piece of business on a footballing stand point and thus you should do much better than a fella who interested all in one... |

So much about the money we spent on Paul and the imaginary pressure on Mou championed by Mr. Logic himself...For so called logical folks like Dayo and company, it's perfectly normal for Guardiola to outspend his rivals by any amount as long as he doesn't break the world record, funny... Now, if we must tow their line of thought wherein Mou is suppose to win all before him, then we'd say Man City must concede the least number of goals since they just broke the world record for a defender, sounds silly right? That's how we see you from where we stand. |

Diademk07: I stated that Hazard had roughly the same stats or if not better and yes he was better with his 20 goals and 16 assists, he was far better than Di Maria while playing in a lesser team.
The funny thing is, if average to nothing headless players such as Moura and Pastore could get 11/12 assists for Psg in that league, what is the fuss about Di Maria's 18 assists? Why couldn't he do his magic vs City then? Why look rubbish in both legs against City awful defence?
Abegi!
Only those that don't watch Di Maria wouldn't know that he's an inconsistent sod who would stink the place for the entire 90 mins yet deliver an assist at the end of it. The only time he was ever consistent was for a 6months as a makeshift box-box CM alongside pass masters like Modric/Alonso.
I was vehemently against his signing and I was happy when he was rightly binned because he's not a player you build a team around to make it function but a player that's only added to an already well oiled functioning team. labeling pastore a headless player only shows how much you know about football...As for Moura, I have no words for you, Moura is a very talented player (you're probably still upset he snubbed us for PSG) |

Spy360: Your reasons are only based on signings, but that's wrong. You overlook team blending, which is Arsenal's biggest advantage. Zlatan will fade away when the tempo heats up. Sane is not yet a finished article. Pogba yes, but he'll be needing 10 others to also be at their peak.
Point is the league is as wide open as the ocean. Whoever wins it must be consistent against small teams as well as being able to make things count in the big games. and there will be many big games this season... Apart from the traditional four, the likes of Tottenham, West Ham, Leicester, Everton, Liverpool will pose huge challenges. It is in matches against these that the league would be decided. Team blending yes but individual quality speaks a lot...Zlatan is a lot like CR7, his ego won't let him fail. Looking at Arsenal, I'd still point to the striking situation at the emirates stadium as a point of concern, Giroud can win you a cup competition that features just about 7 matches but in a league competition, your guess is as good as mine, he can't. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by patrickmuf(m): 9:02pm On Aug 07, 2016 |
MrDojo: like i said if arsenal make quality signings be4 the window closes, they have a chance. ( another thing to note wenger is banking on the fact that most of this guys have played with eached for over 3-4 years so there is perfect understanding with them, this is something a lot of mangers take for granted)
City and United, made huge investments both on and off the pitch, failure to win it would be catastrophic for both teams, both of them are at a disadvantage too becuz they both have a new manger, meaning new tactics, new players new training regimes which would take a some time to get used to.
the only place i see leicester surprising people will be the Champions League, everybody knows what to expect in the EPL now....
hate to admit it but TOtham are going to be dangerous ( if they can replicate the level they reached last season) The big question is; will wenger spend the necessary cash even with the injury to Gabriel? |

MrDojo: i can say with 100% certainty Arsenal wont drop out of the top four this season,
are we going to win it? maybe (depends on wenger's signings).
this season will be interesting like mad.
liverpool and chelshit have an advantage in no UCL or EL,
Man city still has a lot of work to do under pep, but when they gel the team is going to very good,
Manure ? most teams who play in Europa struggle but with their signings and manger, this season is going to be do or die for them,
leicester should forget about retaining the title or challenging for top 4, everybody is awake now, they can try but personally i dont see them smelling the top 4 this year.
totham are like dark horses they but some quality under-G players in wanayama & jensen, if they can play like last season they can challenge for the top 4 again this season but i dont see them winning it. Arsenal won't win it... City with Sane and their Cb's will bbe up there, Man Utd with Pogba joining the fray should also have a shout... Leicester city are still gonna cause surprises, they've made the best use of the transfer market thus far... Tottenham will be very dangerous also, they've made some good signings |

Things I learnt from today's game... De Gea is still De Gea, he is a priced asset to our team Bailly though very impressive isn't the finished product, he's packed with potential to be a world beater... Shaw is going to be a big weapon for us when transiting from defense to attack, his pace is as crucial as his ability to stay fit... Blind remains our most intelligent player but still can't be trusted against physical strikers... Valencia should be our starting RB, he does offer more than the Italian attacking wise... Carrick is still our best midfielder, he represents a calming presence in midfield... Fellaini is a squad player at best, i'd call him a necessary evil... Rooney is still poo in possession... Lingard is one player I don't understand, workrate is a plus but his overall involvement and build up play is still a suspect... Martial needs to up his game, he had it easy last time out but as at now, he is considered a huge threat thus must up his overall game play... Ibracadabra is a big asset, his name alone strikes fear in to the opposition but he must hasten his play, the epl is all about pace... Mata is still mata, he retains possession beautifully... Schneiderlin will do well in this set up... We'll need time to transform in to a typical Mou team... |

Let him enjoy his 6 subs, his disgrace dey come. He needs to thank Lingard and Ibra for saving him.
As for those who think na personal problem dey affect Martial, let me remind them that the stuff started around Feb when he was in his best form. The thing is Mourinho's formation hinders his interplay and movement. He's not a winger but an inverted forward! See why most folks here are always on your case? Guys like Airmark and Dahdemola suppose get permanent residence for Yaba Left. On top the Schweini matter, guy na my nigga but he has no one to blame but himself. Leaving Bayern for another big club is always a great risk. Kroos took a gamble and it paid off for him but in Basti's case, he made the move at the wrong time. Truth be told, Schweini is finished at the top level. Those injuries have taken their toll on him. Did he think he was going to get the same royal treatment he got at Bayern at United? Guy should chin up and face his troubles as a man instead of playing the victim. If Bastian was sure of anything close to royal treatment at Bayern, he'd never have left... Truth if even if Bastian was at Bayern last season, Pep would've done something similar to him. |
