There is software developer group of Nigeria (SDG), Nigeria computer society (NCS) but to be sincere these are expensive and have their requirements are high. May be we can start ours for young and professional developers. Don't you think so?

Do the server reside in or outside 9ja?

You can develop database and server application with either J2EE or .NET. but i will advise you to start with .NET because it is easier, faster to learn and most used in Nigeria industry (only 3 Nigerian noteable ICT companies use J2EE and some even have .NET team) as you grow you can also learn you can learn J2EE. I learnt Java (i mean J2ME) so that i can write mobile and embedded application. The principle is the same but the syntax is different. I really love to know what you want as you can learn these technology without going to APTECH, NIIT or other high cost IT school all you need is in you (passion/desire), google.com and 4shared.com (all these made a a sought after programmer). Enaks, its suprising to see that by your age you are still controlled by your parents decision. What do you want to be in life, how can your aunt (who lived in 20th generation) say that computer is not marketable. 1st and 2nd richest men in the world (calous slim and bill gates) are in ICT respectively, I Know people that make more than half a million working in an IT firm. This is an opportunity to study abroad, I agree with Bossman go for software engineering cos programming, networking, security, system admin cos any other IT field can be taught in local schools professional and secondly is an emerging ICT field. I' m sorry for sounding like this but i just did not expect this from a graduate
