Politics / Re: How Was Time Ascertained Before The Clock Invention? by paulemi(m): 10:47am On Jul 07, 2015
Before the invention of the time clock, more civilised races used the hour glass (also called sand glass).

In Africa, many of the people could tell what time of the day it was using their shadows. I learnt that from my granny, and also learnt how to do it. Its kinda based on the lenght and direction of one's shadow and knowing where the sun rises and where it sets.

@calculator123, I used the phrases 'average diameter' and 'time can be assumed' for a reason. Its certainly not absolute.

Mount Everest is not the highest point on earth. Yes, it's the highest mountain, but you need to consider its location and also the shape of the earth.

but gravity as postulated by Newtons universal inverse square law acts towards the center of mass of the bodies involve. So when the person involved in the jump gets past the center of the earth will its inertial be enough to get him to the surface against the gravitational force now acting in the revers direction undecided

well as a theoretical physicist I expect a simple harmonic motion about the center of the earth baring all other uncertainty like electrostatic/electromagnetic impulses, pressure and temperature effect, etc

Wow! I think I like you hottest legs.....or more like hottest brain.

I am not a physicist, but as someone who understands a little bit of that, I totally agree with your line of reasoning. However, in this case the emphasis seems to be on helping the lay man appreciate the depth of such a hole beyond just meters and ft.

In other words, assuming every other factor (like g) is kept constant, knowing the earth's average diameter and knowing we jumped from state of rest, time can be assumed.
A lay man can appreciate it better that way.

^^ This one thing is the biggest problem I have with owele; the man has no single regard for long established traditional institutions. He has totally overtaken traditional systems in the state and turned everything on its head.

Gov. Okorocha now imposes ezes on communities, and that aught not to be. These things are supposed to run independent of state influences.

Guy let me give u crew of how far u can use the 100k and make profit without involving ur time much...invest it on softwares, if your in Lagos go to computer village and negotiate with the major software dealers, they will be produciing the softwares for you @ rate of N50 for one while you re-sell @ rate of N100 for one, all you needs to do is make contacts with many book shop & computer accessories shops far from computer village and negotiate with them, you will be supplying them the softwares, they will be selling @ rate of N150 per one.. Believe me you will sell a lot especial games/anti virus and office applications, people will patronize them because going to computer village to buy software will cost them extra more than N500 for fare. Note: make sure ur producing quality softwares that will enable them trust u more.. ( i did this business during my university days, though i stays in PH but buy the softwares from Lag & it will be waybill for me) i made more than a million naira from software business before i back off when i join oil company. Bro u can give it a try: Gudluck

I am very much interested in this. Please, I'll send u a PM to get info.

You sef reason am: if a PhD holder can do this badly as you posit, what magic are you then expecting from one that doesn't even have his ssce? Hey, This is the seat of presidency we're talking here. We've only got one Nigeria we can call our own, we've got to respect and magnify that seat of the first citizen.

Regardless of how all of these eventually turn out, I have totally lost every iota of respect I once had for Buhari. The APC and its supporters should know that Nigerians are not idiots. An issue of this magnitude can't surface and it takes them days to clear the air. From all indications it is obvious something isn't adding up in all this.

Lai Muhammed said the issue would be resolved "one way or another". If eventually Buhari comes out of this and goes ahead to contest without putting his certificates in public (ssce at least) for us to verify - photocopies would do, every sane person out there is going to be assuming they've actually done something about it "one way or another". And peradventure it became so...... I don't even want to imagine the kind of CHANGE he would be talking to us about.

u can't have an apple computers without cpu. because the cpu and it's component is embedded in the monitor. don't u get it?
Can u remove the cpu from a laptop??
Mehn....Ok, follow me bro; the CPU of a computer system is not just the box which houses the motherboard like most people think, there is a hardware component called the processor (or central processing unit) inside which acts as the brain. This piece of hardware can be located and dismounted in most if not all computers. This is usually done if there is a need to upgrade, or if it is suspected that the CPU is faulty and needs to be changed.
For laptops, since they are not exactly designed to be opened, some (not all) of them come with CPUs soldered to the motherboard, this doesn't mean they can not be removed though. So, as for your question, the answer is an emphatic 'yes' if you know what you're doing. You only lose your warranty, that's all. Apple's Macbooks can actually be opened with screw drivers. Google mehn.

Now look at this, the DSS raids a place and first thing they do is to take an inventory of seized items. For record purposes they're going to have to be specific and exact in their inventory; that's really what an inventory is about, isn't it?

End of the day, my point really is that it is possible for them to have found an Apple computer without CPU, so long as they didn't say the computer was working. I don't think you can be smatter than all the people who work there. A computer system is not a complete system without one of its vital components. so, "one Apple computer system without CPU" was totally the correct way to put.

haha ok I understand you now. see apple computers systems unlike others are just like laptop. cpu monitor ports are together in one unit I.e they are not detachable. only keyboard and mouse is detachable. Apple computer system seems to look like a computer without cpu to a lay man because all u see is a monitor a mouse and keyboad
Yeah I know that, and I think you understand me now. I was just trying to point out the possibility of people actually having misunderstood what the DSS meant by "one apple computer system without CPU" in that report. Thank you.

have u seen an apple computer system without cpu before??
Well I've never seen, nor heard, of a computer running without its brain (the CPU), but I know the CPU of most computers can be removed if there's a need for upgrading.

Excuse me Mr., but I'd like to know why you have troubles believing the bolded above. From you handle, I want to believe you know what CPU means, and what a laptop's CPU is. So please explain why that up there is not possible, since I don't see it mentioned that the laptop was actually running.

Op, i thought i was the only one o sad. For me the hardest part is having to decide everyday on what to eat, and actually cooking the meal after deciding. I make good meals, but its usually a hell of a task cooking; I've found myself cooking in the dead of the night many times because I 'd thought the snacks I must have eaten earlier would hold me till the next day only for me to be woken up by serious hunger at midnight.

How about looking in a non spiritual manner? We dealing with physics here I guess, not metaphysics
Ermmm....my point really is that you can't talk time travel and be talking classical physics. Relativity theory and other physical laws will not help here as there's no geographical location called the past or future.
Science/Technology / Re: Time Travel : Real Or Fictional .. .?(how Possible) ? by paulemi(m): 5:35pm On Jul 20, 2014
BadBoy25: whether or not you believe what i'm saying , the fact remains that you will never die . even if you kill yourself at this very moment ,you would simply not die even though your body dies . what i'm saying to you right now sounds very foolish and unbelievable from this current physical perspective but i understand .
And time travel is possible . everything on this physical realm has already been . tomorrow has come and gone . 2015 ,2016 2070 has come and gone, everything has already happened 8. sorry that's the least I can explain .

Finally, here's someone actually saying something. To really understand that the concept of time travel is possible, you've got to look more into the spiritual, conventional physics can not help only metaphysics and something more. The concept of time as people see it is an illusion, we created it, and its all centered around the movements of our planet relative to other planets and solar bodies. Einstein postulated that everything happens simultaneously.... your present and future are actually happening at the time, its just a matter of when you walk into which and become aware of it. I agree wholesomely with this idea because it corroborates with the bible's claim about God (a spirit being) seeing the end from the beginning and living in eternity. In the metaphysical world the whole idea of time collapses; time and space become meaningless. The being God and other spirits live in eternity, and eternity is one long stretch of a day; no night, no morning and no time, it doesn't end.
That said, I believe time travel is possible but not in the sense that most people think. If we consider the fact that looking at the sun and other stars we actually look back in time. The distance of stars and other solar bodies is actually measured in light years, and this just means the number of years it takes light emitted from these stars to reach earth. So when you look at the constellations for example, you re actually seeing what they were like hundreds of years ago. For all we know some may be dead now. The time will come when man will be able to project himself (a conscious part of his being) into the future, or the past, and observe things. Unfortunately, that is the closest to time travel we will ever get in this physical body mass. We'll only be able to observe things, but not be able to interfere, or interact with events in the future or the past....only the present. Anything more than that will subject this physical body, or any chunk of body mass, to such vibrational energy it will cause the total disintegration of such body. Mass transfer between realms and dimensions will be a problem, however, sending messages in wave forms and digital signals will be possible. Its only a matter of time I say, and this is based on my research, observation and thinking.

Are you referring to the pedestrian bridge before MCC junction?

Two points of congestion are:-

1. Along the Orlu road. There is a skeleton of a flyover bridge there said to be built by Ohakim before he was deselected. That junction needs serious attention.

2. The roundabout where an amusement park is being constructed. I wonder why a roundabout was created there instead of a flyover bridge. What amazes me further is the link roads where the amusement park is being built. The road is beautified by arches of what I don't understand. The pictures are on this thread.

You're right, that one's pedestrian. It just occurred to me.
That Orlu road is something else. Dec 29th, I spent almost 4 hrs from Ngor-Okpala to Ideato South, via Orlu. Traffic was really bad. I just kinda thought it was because of the festivities.
