Dear nairalanders, i need your sincere advice on this issue. I am the overall manager of a company. My boss ( the owner) uses divide and rule system. He likes people snitching on others. He has adviced me as the manager to adopt same system to get information about what's happening.

My concern now is that he doesn't probe me to speak about others but he probes others to speak about me. So far so good no scandal has been reported against me. I live above board with the fear of God to the best of my ability.

Each time he will tell me the workers said i dont take suggestions, i am harsh with them when they suggest. I know this is a lie on the part of the workers.

This is where i need your advice: should i confront my boss and ask why he is doing that. Why is he using them against me and not me against them.

This attitude is frustrating me. He is always confronting me with their very sentimental and subjective opinions. Meanwhile non is able to say any serious evil against. I know if they see they will definitely tell him . But non as at today.

Should i quit the job or just ignore

My previous boss used this same tactics. It's a method adopted in insecure bosses to control all the staffs. Don't quit until you get another job, at the same time don't ignore. One problem with divide and rule tactics is that office conflict is frequent and it makes it difficult for workers to cooperate together even on simple tasks ultimately leading to someone being asked to go! In my previous workplace we had high staff turnover, fire, resign. Hire, fire, resign, repeat. From experience what kept me is:

1. Ignore hurtful words and actions of others and focus on your work.

2. Cooperate with others no matter what.

3. Don't involve in office gossip and up your game in your tasks.

4. Don't give room for mistakes and always give feedback back even on the most mundane task to reduce your boss' insecurity.

Start planning your exit, as staying in that environment for too long can hinder your progress. Promotion and pay raise often do not go to the most competent, it goes to stooges or the bosses informants and loyalists.

If you take part in office politics you won't last long there. If you follow my advice and stay out of politics you will be stagnated and lose out on all the good things happening in the office.

If you lived in the first century you will feel the back and forth, deceptive/misleading and life threatening doctrines among the Christians because that's exactly what faithless people of your kind made their concern back then.

The first troubling part of this your narrative is you classifying the first Christians as deceptive. Am now tempted to ask if you are truly a Christian or just an atheist mocking the faith!

secondly, did the early bible Christians predict that world will end in 1970? did Paul or peter teach that you have to be baptized in Jehovahs organization and not through Jesus" name? Did Jesus ever mention the name of an group/creed and giving his endorsement? Did paul teach that only 144,000 will go to heaven? Did Peter say that we should pray hail mary!!! Did paul teach that you have to be baptized as a redeemed or JW or catholic to be saved?

Several times in the bible the condition for salvation is to believe in Jesus. Anything in addition to this is unnecessary! Anything outside this is false! That's why folks who say you have to be a member of a christain creed or do things for you to be saved on the last day are misleading their fold, or commercialing the gospel and the watchtower is not exempt! most sheeple do not even realize they are saved!

The bible made this thing easier for us, why are we complicating it for ourselves?



So instead of contemplating on those things that's peculiar to imperfect humans faithful people focus on the FRUITAGE of pure worship: LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, GOODNESS, GENTLENESS, FAITH, MILDNESS and SELF-CONTROL! Galatians 5:22-23

Pure worship is not about perfection but willing hearts to humbly do God's will! wink

When the head of a denomination or a group continuously and deliberately makes false 100% EOD predictions without showing any remorse or changing, that person is not an Imperfect human, he is the wolve Jesus taught about in John 10!

At the least the difference between the tongue torting crew false fellas that fall in your category is that some predictions come to pass by sheer chance and some of them try to explain failures and own up to it. Can we say the same of the watchtower?

Just yesterday, the news media was awash with news about CBNs attempting to redesign the 100, 200, 500 & 1000 naira notes. The premises behind this policy was to enable the apex bank, have a better grasp of the money supply as over N3 trillion is not within the financial framework. The aim of this policy is to make Nigerians exchange their old notes for the new ones, majority of which are unbanked. It is expected that this policy will
1. fight inflation- basic Economics has it that a monetary control measure for inflation is to raise interest rates, taxes. since majority of the funds would be captured by the system, monetary policy becomes very effective.
2. Contrary to the opinion the the CBN governor, Godwin Emiefele, commercial banks will make a lot of profit. But this time it will not be from bank charges, it will be from account opening. over 70% of Nigerians are unbanked, from the village farmer to the uneducated handyman. This policy will sweeping them into the financial system.
3. Increased Employment- we may see more employment in institutions like banks- more DSAs will be employed. Real estate and investment firms- The shady business man or politician may use these institutions to hide their ill gotten wealth.
4. Fight corruption, electoral vote buying, crime- a vast majority of the funds in the black money market are proceeds by fraud, drug peddling, kidnapping, corruption by thieves, bad politicians, fraudsters who have been hoarding the naira over the years to avoid surveillance. considering the fact that elections are just around the corner, it may reduce electoral malpractice by 70% are the corrupt politicians may be unwilling to exchange the old notes for the new one to avoid questioning and subsequently detention. But then my reasoning is that there will be a surge in the demand for foreign currencies e.g USD. BDC activites will increase tremendously. The corrupt elements will quickly convert the old naira notes to USD and then hoard the USD.

SOLUTION

1. The CBN should Implement strong regulatory framework for the BDCs or Abokis as people popularly call them. They should be able to keep track of those who change their naira for USD, their names, address, everything.
2. Mandate banks and BDC's to stop giving out USD and foreign currencies. All payments or remittances must be via transfer or digital platform.

The worst mistake you can make is to accept an offer from a toxic place because you have no job. It can destroy your life. Toxic places are known for gaslighting or can give you a bad reference to your next employee. You could even work and be sacked without pay in a toxic place. I advise you not to take that chance.

There is something I usually do when I get a new job, I would take a leave of absence from my current place of work and resume at the new office before tendering my resignation. The few days I have there, I use it for fact finding. I implore you to do the same, it has never failed me. A lot can happen then.. your offer letter can be changed to a new offer you wouldn't like, you can be drifted to a department you don't like.

#Just so you know, the physical reviews is much worse than the online reviews the OP posted.

I am very glad I didn't accept the offer. Egatee is a good place to work, but my state of mind is of utmost importance. I would not want to work in a place where I am scared of being the next person to be sacked.
