Jobs/Vacancies / Re: 5 Careers/jobs To Avoid As An Introvert by paulhq(m): 10:53am On Jan 08, 2017
lacasera14:
There are introverts that are a combination of melancholy and phlegmatic temperaments those are the ones I'm referring to, they are extremely dull naturally, don't smile without a reason and are socially withdrawn. There are introverts that are also a blend of melancholy and sanguine too. read my caveat, I specifically mentioned the later as my focal point. so all of you claiming to do all these successfully are not fully introverted, you all are blends of either choleric or sanguines. Tim lahaye's book about temperament should you a bit. it's a must read for everyone.

Before I proceed, please be aware that am not attacking you, at least not aggressively...

1) Are you an introvert? If yes, how did you know? And if an 100% introvert, how did you know you are? If not, then either you refer us to the person who wrote the article, or you answer this question: do you think it is fair that a person from a different perspective speak for another group and make it fact rather than see from theirs?

2) The Tim Lahaye, I respect him, but it's either you (or someone) misinterpreted his book, or he is wrong to make an assumption on behalf of more than 7 billion people in the world based on some few thousands he researched. Or maybe he really didn't make it fact, his theory is "if people have one tendency to do this, then they are more likely to have more tendencies to do that"

3) I would have supported your post a little ... if it didn't make some wrong assumptions that people having over the years always had about introverts (once again, are you one?)

1. MARKETTING: ....
You are bad at relating with strangers, you find it difficult to smile
without a reason and to crown it all you
are a pessimist which means you have no
option than to fail at this

tongue but sir, why didn't you tell me options are finished, my igbo brothers can manufacture new ones

2. MEDICINE: ....
The warm
smiles, the jovial attitudes, the lively and
fun personalities of the extroverts do have
a psychological effect on patients whether
you choose to believe it or not and you
clearly don’t possess any of these
qualities.

wink "clearly" abi? Please the writer should send us his personal goggles, maybe then I will clearly see where I lost my N20 I wanted to buy groundnut with the other day.

3. ACTING: ....

How do you
handle the limelight attentions, interviews,
exposure and some of the hazards that
come with being a celebrity. Well since you
have a knack for depression, what
becomes of you when your daily life is
being dissected and misconstrued by the
public via social media on a daily basis?
I’m looking at a scenario where you call it
quits at the peak of your acting career
because of depression and the public
poking into your dear private life which is
such a shame if you ask me

shocked seriously?

4. POLITICS: ....

Why should you be thinking of
this when you are a greenhorn at cheer
leading and you are socially incapacitated

grin you don't mean it, tell me more

5. BUSINESS
Being successful in business
demands the risk taking habits of socially
inclined people not the pessimic nature of
introverts who will first look at the cons

cheesy what is the pessimic nature you keep talking about, is it a type of food, a skin color, is it something people are born with, is it an atomic bomb... it sounds pretty terrible angry God whyyyyyy.... why did you create me like this... so you mean am stuck as a worker and I can never be an entrepreneur, you mean I can't achieve my dreams because I have a "personality handicap"

In conclusion, being an introvert, even 100%, is not an handicap.
An extrovert can and will also fail in these professions if they don't do well.
And guess what, from my personal experience, what I've seen others, and research I made which you can also make... three strengths (among others) of an introvert are writing, speaking and acting... and creativity. As a matter of fact, an introvert is more likely to succeed at anything if they put their mind to it.

Hay, guess what, Bill Gates and Nelson Mandela are introverts... don't argue this one, I have their books on my table here.

So in the end, just admit that you copied the post from somewhere... and we can all be friends again cool
before the pros

Literature / The Story Of A Penniless Philosopher by paulhq(m): 2:25am On Nov 15, 2016
Let me tell you about him, I know you've heard of the story of Jesus, the son of God and most holy and righteous man. But I want to tell you a story of Jesus, the son of a carpenter. He grew up in the poorest village (Nazareth) of the smallest tribe (bejamite). He grew up a hardworking boy who had a great enthusiasm for learning that at one time, his parents were worried looking for him only to find him in the temple discussing with scholars. He became a hardworking carpenter, yes, he was a carpenter, not a banker, not a millionaire, a mere carpenter. But he wasn't worried about it, he wasn't worried about getting rich, he just lived life.

Then came the time when he was to go out and share the philosophy of a happy life. And at the age of 30, he set out, with no money in his pocket, or clothes in his bags, on a dream: to travel round the country inspiring people. And he did.

The man journeyed for more than three years, penniless. You have to wonder, how did he eat? He was great man, people invited him to feast together. He had no supplies but he never ran out of supplies.

But do you know one great thing about this guy? There was a time when his friends were on a ship and a storm came and they were all terrified. And they looked, and saw him coming to them, walking on the stormy sea. This carpenter, yes, this mere carpenter, was able to walk, not just on water, but also in the midst of the storm, when everybody else were afraid. How did he do it?

Jesus was the kind of guy that everybody loved, even the sinners loved him, he was playing with them one time. There was religious group called the pharisee that Jesus offends with his teaching, everybody in the group were supposed to hate him. But this guy was so good that even some of the pharisees became his followers. Even criminals loved him. How did he do it.

When you picture Jesus, what you'll see is a very happy man going around spreading happiness? what were his secrets? Love, was his greatest secret. oh such great love he had that he forgave the very people who killed him without giving a second thought. I mean, think of it, would people normally forgive if they were in his shoes? no, but is an ability we all have, we just choose to hold on to grudges too long. Here's a man who lived his life to the fullest.

He had other great philosophies for a happy life - gratitude, forgiveness, don't judge, and so many others, but do you know the one I like most: it's the one that made him walk on water.

This penniless philosopher one day sat on a mountain and shared his philosophies to a large crowd, now recorded in the book of matthew as the sermon on the mount. And in one, he said,
“Therefore I tell you, stop being worried or anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted) about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, as to what you will wear. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothing?

Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow [seed] nor reap [the harvest] nor gather [the crops] into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they?

And who of you by worrying can add one [l]hour to [the length of] his life?

And why are you worried about clothes? See how the lilies and wildflowers of the field grow; they do not labor nor do they spin [wool to make clothing],

yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory and splendor dressed himself like one of these.

But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive and green today and tomorrow is [cut and] thrown [as fuel] into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!

Therefore do not worry or be anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted), saying, ‘What are we going to eat?’ or ‘What are we going to drink?’ or ‘What are we going to wear?’

For the [pagan] Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; [but do not worry,] for your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.

“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Matthew 6:25-34 (Amplified version)

smiley I don't need to explain further to you how he walked on stormy seas even though people were terrified.

We can all walk on water, you don't need special powers to perform miracles. Am not saying we should live without getting a career or preparing for the future. He didn't say don't prepare, he said don't worry about the future outcome of your preparations, do what it is you have to do today (each day has it's own trouble). Imagine how all our lives will be like if we attempted things not worrying if we will fail or not, or if it's right or wrong. Imagine the endless possibilities smiley

Off course you know am not preaching to you consider it a normal story.

Literature / Re: Top 5 Books You Should Read Before Turning 25 Years Old by paulhq(m): 12:57am On Oct 22, 2016
I suggest the title of this thread should have been "five books I read and recommend you read before 25" .
I recommend
- How to stop worrying and start living (and all Dale Carnegie books)
- The greatest salesman in the world (and all OG Mandino books)
- What makes the great great - Dennis P. Kimbro
- The monk who sold his Ferrari - Robin Sharma
- Outliers - Malcolm Gladwell

These are not just books on "do this" and "do that", these are books. By books, I means well written books. And the best part is, these are books that I could lay my hand on, meaning I may even find books better off. Most of the books people listed are the popular ones book sellers in Nigeria stock. Believe me, there are better books out there. But I didn't list the books because they are better, I listed them because they changed my life, may not change yours, it's ok.

I may also want to add
- The success principles - Jack Canefield
- Love, the way to victory - Kenneth Hagin

I also want to chip this in (just an opinion), 48 laws of power, rich dad poor dad, and most especially why you act the way you do are over hyped. I highly recommend you read them (except why you act the way you do), but regard the contents as opinions of the writers, not universal laws.

Lastly, for those of you saying "I'll rather read the bible", that is the most popular excuse people give. Why don't you say the same thing when asked to read a maths or physics textbook, since the bible contains "all knowledge needed". God still inspires people today just like in the days of old. The truth is, 90% of people who use this excuse don't even read their bible as their statement would make it seem. (disclaimer: I am a christian).

Ps: stay away from spiritual books if you don't like them. Christians like me are criticized for reading less spiritual books, but in my opinion, one should pick a book not because of it's title or genre, but because of it's style of writing. Most pastors don't know how to write, they only write because they see their mates writing and because they have a reference book, the bible, to shop lift data from.

cheers smiley

Webmasters / Website Designers And Developers In Delta State, Introduce Yourself Here by paulhq(m): 12:37pm On Oct 17, 2016
I don't want to believe it when someone said all the website builders in delta state have all gone to lagos state. Delta state is supposed to be one of the top states in I.T in Nigeria (my opinion) , and I believe we are still much here, and the reason they run is because there's not much opportunity to use our talents here. But it can be resolved, but not until we even know ourselves. So it is proper that we introduce ourselves.

My name is Paul, from Effurun. I major in HTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT, JQUERY, MYSQL and PHP. I am also a wordpress developer.

Introduce yourself, and don't be ashamed if your works are not that good.

Science/Technology / In Need Of A Freelance Website Programmer In Delta State by paulhq(m): 4:59pm On Oct 08, 2016
So as the topic indicates, we need a programmer for some series of project.

Programmer must be based in Delta, that is around Warri, Ughelli or close by area

Programmer must be freelance - this doesn't necessarily mean he shouldn't be working elsewhere, it only implies he should be able to work with us independently.

Programmer obviously should be a male, but we would be challenged if we get a female response (I don't know any female programmers).

Programmer should not be a student. Age range between 18 and 24, but we would be challenged if we get a response from one who is that good and younger or a student.

Any other details we be evaluated in the interview.

Its not an application for a job per say, it's on a contract basis.

We don't need your cv or any documents, just drop links to your portfolio or anything at all you have done before. Don't be ashamed if it's that bad smiley any of your work, even uncompleted is ok. Your work should contain links/contacts to you, or preferably we'll email you through nairaland.

Romance / Re: Why Do Girls Fall In Love With Some Guys And Not The Other (opinion) by paulhq(m): 4:12am On Sep 22, 2016
Maybe sometimes, we can't really understand it, maybe sometimes we shouldn't, I don't think we even need to...
Romance / Why Do Girls Fall In Love With Some Guys And Not The Other (opinion) by paulhq(m): 2:33am On Sep 21, 2016
it's amazing the nature of girls, or the way they are perceived. There's something about you girls that makes you so susceptible.

Why is it that a guy will go through the same procedure with another guy but still end up not making it to the finals? Some are nice, caring, honest but don't get the girl, some are handsome, good with words, play the game right, but still don't get it. Some are hardcore flirts, but even to them, not all girls are within their reach (even though they won't agree).

Over my two years stay in the tertiary institution, which is more of my first exposure to the world, I have learned a lot of things from experience and research. And you know what I discovered, I had it all wrong. For me to drop 50% of my shyness, I had to make conscious study of somethings, and you know what I discovered, most of the things I feared were not really a big deal. For example, I discovered it was ok to touch, hold and roll your hand over a girls face and all those kind of stuff, unlike my fear that it sent signals of having immoral intentions or she won't be comfortable with it. I found out that those flirty words were very easy to say , both the soft ones and hard ones (although I still find it a little uncomfortable to say them), and no matter how insincere they were, they bring a charm to the girls face. I found that you can ask a girl anything, any question, any request if you want to, you just have to be bold. I found out that intimacy topics is not really an issue with girls. I found out many things. And these are not things i read off a book, these are things I discovered with keen interest and practiced some myself.

And you know what it all boil downs to, I think (it's an opinion), for you girls, it's nothing about what is right or wrong, good or bad, truth or lie, it's more about how it makes you feel. So two guys might do the same thing, but the approach of the other may make the girl feel more loved or admired, even though his approach may be insincere (and the girl knows it), or maybe the guy doesn't even need to approach, maybe there's a particular way he talks or a particular way he walks or a particular way his face his shaped, maybe the sound of his voice, that makes the girl feel wow. Maybe its the way his hands moves your hair, or maybe because he chooses to touch the hair. Maybe because he choose to say I love you by 2am, maybe because when you are around him you have the tendency to want to behave different, and the list goes on and on. It's not as if the girl wakes up one morning and says, today am going to fall in love with anyone that speaks slowly or anyone that says good morning with a great smile. It's a subconsciously conscious reaction which fine tunes the way the girl processes the request.

Obviously, some guys have the ability to induce these feelings, not really by special powers but by the boldness to be dishonestly honest. Because if one is able to tell a girl I love you 3 times a day, not in a bugging manner, it will ring in their heads because at least they feel admired. The feeling will still be there even if the guy is bugging her.

So it's not really about having the right qualities, but having the qualities that will make her feel right. smiley

I am sorry for the long write up, even this one alone can't explain 10% of what is going on, but it's one of the explanations.

Or what do you think? Criticize and/or add

Hello, I have been trying to use my GTbank and UBA mastercard online on Facebook, paypal and flippa and they are not working. Facebook says "this card has been cancelled, please try another card or contact your bank." Paypal says something like "we cannot link this card please try another card", flippa says something like, "this card is not allowed". I have tried it with a old UBA card, a new UBA card and my friends GTbank card, all showing the same thing. The only place the card works is in places like interswitch where there is a column for filling in your card pin.

Please, has this happened to you before? How can I resolve this issue? Those using the above platforms what card did you use and when?

Or you want to be a licensed domain registrar

Thank you for taking out time to reply. I have domains already. As a matter of fact, I've successfully completed a domain sale through escrow.com, the buyer contacted me directly. I am currently in the process of certifying my Sedo account, and getting a Gtbank mastercard.

So to be specific, what I need is someone who is already using one or more of these online domain auction platforms to be my guide, at least I'll learn better that way. But if that's too much to ask, then what I really need is someone to just place the domain on auction, and I'll give him his due percentage (like a broker).
