dinozzo:Too many distractions, maybe. Henin breaks for the second time in the second set to go 4-1 up. |
Na wa oh! No wonder u guys have so much interest in women tennis. Who says Hingis isn't beautiful? ![]() Henin has taken the first set, racing through six games in a row after she was broken in the first game. 6-1 Henin. |
The final match between Henin and Ivanovic is in progress. Ivanovic takes the first game on Henin's serve - it might be a long final. |
@ somze wetin be ur own sef? e dey pain u? what a man can't do, a woman, a woman can do better. Abeg leave arsenal alone o. The fact still remains that ARSENAL FC, (either ladies or men) still won quadruple ds erstwhile season. Arseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-- anal |
6-2, 6-2 it ended. Henin meets Ivanovic in the final. |
viee:hmmm. . . she doesn't need those "disturbances". I'm sure Serena wants hers reduced. ![]() |
Sharapova seems to find it hard to cope with big-hitters like herself. The Serbs are having a nice run at France. Three Serbs got to the semi-final, one has progressed into the final, will the other two follow suit? viee:Let's wait for David to explain. |
davidylan:inferior ![]() Do u really mean Jankovic and Henin are inferior players? |
Some good news coming in. . . Sharapova has just been sharapped by Ivanovic. She was humbled 6-2, 6-1. Henin-Jankovic match starts soon. |
If Federer manages to beat Davydenko convincingly, I will be relaxed to watch/follow the final. ![]() Djokovic will also be Rafa's first tough opponent in this tournament too, well apart from Hewitt. I expect Nadal to win of course, but I want Djokovic to leave him drained. |
My sentiments too. I have this resentment towards players who yap alot (and those who don't give credit to their opponents). Listen to Federer's post-match interviews and you'll see the greatness in him. I just hope Djokovic lives up to his blabbings. Otherwise, he should keep his thoughts to himself and learn to talk like the great players. He's said so much in the past and has failed to deliver. Even though Serena delivers more, she should also learn to respect her opponents the more. Imagine her saying "All she had to do was show up" referring to Henin in her interview after the QF match. As for Sharapova, I'm sure Ivanovic will teach her some lessons. But the eventual winner of the tournament is between Jankovic and Henin. |
official:Even Gala is now sold for N50, formerly N40, T-fare has increased by about 20%. yet there's no increase in wages. ![]() |
congrats viee! let's see how the SF goes. No contest! Nadal cruised past Moya (6-4, 6-3, 6-0) to set up a SF clash with Djokovic, who had earlier dismissed Andreev in straight sets too (6-3, 6-3, 6-3). Seems both guys decided to save some energy for Friday's match. If you ask me, all four semi-finalists are capable of winning the French. |
. . . not until u've crossed the Moya's and Djokovic's (or Andreev) hurdles. QF Match Update: Canas has broken back; its 4-4 third set. Final Result: Davydenko - Canas 7-5, 6-4, 6-4 |
Take heart ehn! The record doesn't matter; we have a target. At least we are in the SFs. ![]() |
Robredo halts Federer's record of consecutive sets won in a Grand Slam. He was however unable to beat the world number as he fell 5-7, 6-1, 1-6, 2-6. Next for Federer is mostly like Davydenko. Davydenko is thrashing Canas 7-5, 6-4 (he's a break up in the third set). |
The match between Davydenko and Canas is underway. Canas has lost the first game on serve. |
Other QF results (Women): Ivanovic - Kuznetsova 6-0, 3-6, 6-1 Jankovic - Vaidisova 6-3, 7-5 Sharapova - Chakvetadze 6-3, 6-4 SF Fixtures: Justine Henin BEL (1) vs. Jelena Jankovic SRB (4) Ana Ivanovic SRB (7) vs. Maria Sharapova RUS (2) |
Skills triumphed over power. Champions let their racquets do the talking! A true champion - that's what she is! Henin won the last hope for the americans 6-4, 6-3. Sorry serena peeps (wondering why y'all suddenly went offline)! I wonder what her excuse will be ![]() |
Sorry peeps for disturbing ya, but I kind of miss galatico. ![]() |
Don't worry, the last american standing 'll be taught a lesson; I hope she packs her u know very well, because she'll be doing a lot of running tomorrow. If you want to see good tennis, watch Henin, Mauresmo, Hingis play, not those who rely solely on |
As predicted by David, Nadal beat Hewitt in straight sets (the third set ended 7-6). He faces Moya in the QF. Serena is going down tomorrow. ![]() |
Serena's game with Henin and the other QF matches are scheduled for tomorrow (tuesday). Earlier today, Djokovic and Moya progressed into the QFs defeating Verdasco (6-3, 6-3, 7-6) and Bjorkman (7-6, 6-2, 7-5) respectively. Sadly, Baghdatis is on his way out; he's 2 sets down and also a break down in the fourth set. |
Ol' boy, this guy is ruthless oh! Hewitt is trailing 3-6, 1-6. |
Roger Federer won the 100th match on clay of his career today. In beating Michael Youzhny 7-6, 6-4, 6-4, Roger Federer won his 35th consecutive set in a Grand Slam today, beating the record previously held by John McEnroe (between the 1st round of Wimbledon 1984 and the US Open of the same year). The last player to take a set off the Swiss was Andy Roddick in the final of the 2006 US Open (won by Federer 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, 6-1). He faces Tommy Robredo in the QF. Davydenko outlasted Nalbandian (6-3, 7-6, 3-6, 7-6) to set up a QF clash with Canas. What a match that would be! In the women's draw, Sharapova screamed her way into the QF, saving two match points against the new Swiss Miss, Schnyder. Next for her is ninth seed Chakvetadze. The other QF fixtures are: Justine Henin BEL (1) vs. Serena Williams USA ( ![]() Jelena Jankovic SRB (4) vs. Nicole Vaidisova CZE (6) Ana Ivanovic SRB (7) vs. Svetlana Kuznetsova RUS (3) |
Other Third Round Results: Djokovic - Patience 7-6, 2-6, 3-6, 7-6, 6-3 Verdasco - Ferrer 4-6, 7-6, 6-3, 6-3 Baghdatis - Hajek 6-2, 6-2 Retired Andreev - Mathieu 7-6, 6-0, 6-3 Bjorkman - Hernandez 6-7, 6-3, 6-0, 6-1 Moya - Brzezicki 6-1, 6-3, 7-5 Hewitt - Nieminen 1-6, 6-3, 7-5, 6-2 Nadal - Montanes 6-1, 6-3, 6-2 Remaining Fourth Round Fixtures: Novak Djokovic SRB (6) vs. Fernando Verdasco ESP Marcos Baghdatis CYP (16) vs. Igor Andreev RUS Jonas Bjorkman SWE vs. Carlos Moya ESP (23) Lleyton Hewitt AUS (14) vs. Rafael Nadal ESP (2) Baghdatis, silently cruising, seems to be enjoying not being considered a fav; he's yet to lose a set in this tournament. His match against Andreev is kinda hard to predict. I tip him to progress into the QF. Nadal/Hewitt (a potential five setter). . . hmm. . . Nadal, but not a straight-sets win, i can bet. |
Today's Third Round Results: Federer - Starace 6-2, 6-3, 6-0 Youzhny - Ferrero 6-7, 7-6, 6-2, 6-2 Robredo - Tipsarevic 6-3, 6-4, 6-0 Volandri - Ljubicic 6-4, 6-7, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 Davydenko - Llodra 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 Nalbandian - Monfils 7-6, 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 Canas - Vliegen 6-2, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 Monaco - Roger-Vasselin 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 Some Fourth Round Fixtures: Roger Federer SUI (1) vs. Mikhail Youzhny RUS (13) Tommy Robredo ESP (9) vs. Filippo Volandri ITA (29) Nikolay Davydenko RUS (4) vs. David Nalbandian ARG (15) Guillermo Canas ARG (19) vs. Juan Monaco ARG Monfils, Ljubicic are out! Some interesting fixtures we have in the this round. Davydenko/Nalbandian. . . hmmm. I would give it to the russian. Federer might meet Volandri or Canas (both players who beaten him this year), should they win their respective matches. |

Mustay, just wondering why u didn't include arsenal in your list. This is the time for the Galacticos to give their fans something to cheer/brag about, once again. |
Yes oh! The guy is flying at the mo'; he's thrashing homeboy Ascione (6-1, 6-2, . . . ). |
