You can't get an appointment at the passport agency if your travel date doesn't fall within two weeks of the day you make the appointment, two weeks to your travel make an appointment, you can get next day or the day after appointment and can also pick up your LO' 's passport same day after submission of documents and they now strictly require ds3053 notarized at the embassies if one parent is not around for those that put father's names in the birth certificate.

On the appointment request form, you are asked when you need your passport by. That's what determines what appointment slots you get. I got my passport at the Houston agency on 9th January. Travel date at the time was 29 Jan. I booked online on 3rd Jan for a 8th Jan appointment.

I am assuming that you amswered 'no' to the question on requiring a visa for ur travel. Y'day, I booked an appointment for next week and my travel date is month end.

It is not a new system.for you to do expedited you must be travelling in 2wks or less and need a visa for destination. So just wait till then if you can, if not go ahead and do the normal process it usually will get to you sooner than you would be told because as you know it is a passport agency.

My POE Story

I flew BA to Austin, Texas on 23 November at 33+6 days. Check in was a breeze, as usual with BA. I was asked for my fit to fly letter from my Dr. However, I was not allowed to fly with a bottle of palm oil I had in my luggage. Flight to London was smooth - ate and slept. Got to London and I had booked a wheelchair, which turned out to be a waste of time. Waited for their buggies that took us into another waiting area in the airport. Wheelchairs were coming in one by one to pick people but at fairly long intervals. Thankfully, I had a 6 hour layover, however, after waiting for about 45 minutes, I packed my stuff and walked to the lounge myself. Took a shower, ate, rested and waited for my connecting flight to Austin. The flight to Austin was about 10 hours and the cabin was relatively empty. Landed in Austin about 3.50pm and didn’t bother to wait for wheelchair. Thankfully, it’s a relatively small airport and our flight was the only flight that landed at the time. Went to the automated passport machine and printed my slip; which came out with an ‘X’ so I knew I was going for secondary inspection, as my visa had an annotation from past experience. Had got the visa earlier this year before I got pregnant and I had used it for vacation in July. (When I came in July - LAX POE, the CBP asked if I planned to have a baby in the US. Said yes but much later in the year. I was stamped in for just 3 weeks at the time, as that’s what I had on my ticket). Anyway, picked up luggage and walked to the CBP

Got to secondary inspection and only 1 passenger there. Met another CBP officer, a man, who attended to me. He got my luggage and went through EVERY item in my luggage – handbag, carry on, suitcases, asking questions along the way. The officer was actually quite nice though, and none of the questions were unexpected or difficult questions.

Looked through all the correspondence I had in a folder in my handbag – doctor and hospital correspondence, travel itinerary, BOA and Chase Bank Statements, Payslips from work, hospital documents from Nigeria. Took out my phone but did not look into it.

So you’ve been transferring funds from Nigeria? (I was not asked for cash, but I did not have any cash, only US bank statements)
How did you determine the cost? I got estimates from the service providers prior to now
How long are you staying? Who’s the father? Where does he live?
Who are you staying with? How are they family?
Do you attend a church or something? (saw a bible and church material in my luggage) What's the name of the church?
Have you ever been refused entry into the US? When? Why? How many visas have you got after then?
They took the beans I had in my luggage and sandwich I was given on the plane. Other food items I had are smoked fish, pap, garri, crayfish, groundnut.

There was another pregnant Naija lady on my flight who was being interrogated by 2 officers – a man and a woman. I heard them asking to see her cash, why she paid such a low amount as hospital fees on her previous birth, if the cousin she's staying with is her real cousin, as you Nigerians call everybody your cousin!!

I was asked to write down my address in US and my passport was returned to me. I was stamped for 6 months. I’m flying to Houston (Richmond) on Sunday and will book a doctor’s appointment when I get in.

congratulations my sister and may Jesus stand by your bed on the day of delivery, My advice for pple is that u follow your spirit as it leads you, some wifes are not working in big companies with big salaries and yet given visa, both couple also went and granted visa, so Follow your spirit

Good morning everyone. Thank you all for your contributions on this platform. It has really educated me. Pls I need advise. I plan to deliver my baby in the us. Michigan precisely. That is where have got a relative . So I managed to get a doctor and a letter from him but it wasn't detailed and it didn't carry the hospital fees. I went to the embassy but was not given. Can't really phantom why cos I went with my husband. The only doc she checked was the doctor's letter and she asked if that was all and she typed and typed and gave me blue letter. I Dnt know whr I went wrong . I sha later called the hospital and Dey sent me a mail for their fees. Pls now my question should I try again with the doctor's letter and hospital mail? When re applying should I choose b2 while my husband chooses b1/b2? And indicate childbirth and vacation? Or we both choose b2 again. Also do you think it could also be because I declared in the form I was corper?could that be a problem? Thank u

For No 2 & 3. I dont have any contact for West houston but you can as well check out for Oakbend hospital and compare bth. I am FTM 15 weeks gone too and plan using oakbend hospital ..Dr Fagbohun. You can check his review out too

Question 1: No they are 2 different entities,one is a hospital,while the other is a birth center,stay away from the birth center
Question 2: Visit the hospital website and search for doctors affiliated to the hospital
Question 3: No answer.
Question 4: type budget sheet in the search space above and narrow It to travel section or search for dora2007 post
Question 5: There are no fixed rules,you can apply alone and let your husband serve as your tie to home or both of you can apply,which ever you are comfortable with
