I really pray the transition goes smoothly

Nigeria is damn to big for somebody's pocket. Let him go for broke. The indicators have been there since last year and Obasanjo memo was not a mere rumour.

The power brokers knows it and some who don't want to be named or associated with his plans already moved out of the country. IBB, AbdulSalam and Obasanjo are not all in the country.

Some went to solicit the western world to warn him not to go for the last option while one ran away so as not to be named as being complicit in the plot.

Watch as events unfolds. Nigeria will rise again.

still trying to find the justification for giving billions of naira contracts to so called ex-militants, OPC and other secessionist groups that have jeopardized and threatened State Security in the past on the altar of Political Endorsement. The precedence being laid down by jonaTAN will lead to conflagration very soon.

you give authority to militant groups to bear arms and who in his right senses don't know those arms will soon be turned on the citizens of the country when those contracts expires or revoked.

Bayelsa State governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson on Friday in Yenagoa threatened to deal with any person or group of persons masquerading as ex-militants or whatever name trying to form parallel government under his leadership in the state.

Governor Dickson read the riot act during an interactive session with the Chiefs and leaders of Oil and Gas host and transit communities against the backdrop of restiveness of ex-militants who have been breaching the peace of the state over surveillance pipeline contract awarded by the Federal Government to ex-militants.

Speaking at the occasion, the governor, emphasized that, such persons will be dealt with according to the law, using the instruments of the government, adding that, his administration will never succumb to threats and intimidation from any group of persons because of NNPC pipeline surveillance contract.

He noted that, the government has the goodwill to give the ex-militants 50 per cent of the contract, but insisted that they must ensure the delivery of their required obligation.

According to him, the Izon Ibe Security outfit, which was set up by the state government will soon be launched in the interest of the entire citizenry of the state, with a mandate to provide massive employment for the youths.

He stated that Izon Ibe Security will be based in areas, where there are oil pipelines in order to create room for proper identification and give adequate accountability, where there are lapses.

“Last year, we set up Izon Ibe Security as our own security that will be community based and the difference is that, it’s government owned. We have training programmes and also intended that traditional rulers make input, so that there will be identification to know those involved and their respective communities.

“Our ex-militants are trying to create chaos and those days when they were forming parallel government is no more because we shall follow them up by the law and we shall not be intimidated.

The governor described Bayelsa as the hub of the Niger Delta, pointing out that, once it is inflamed in violence, it will affect the entire region and by implication the country as a whole.

Governor Dickson informed the audience that, training programmes would soon be reeled out as well as recruitment of persons, who are interested on surveillance duties, with recommendations from community chiefs and leaders.

He noted with delight that Izon Ibe security organisation shall churn out professional security officers that will be co-opted into most oil and gas outfits in the state and will generate funds to cater for their payment without stressing the government.

The governor also mentioned that, there was the urgent need to resolve the issues of oil and gas, because of the forthcoming elections.

In his remarks, the JTF Commander, Major General Emmanuel Atewe said, there can be no development in the state without peace and that peace is needed to harness the multiple opportunities in the state as one of the richest states in oil and gas.

General Atewe noted that, it was in their own interest to support the government by protecting critical assets.

On his part, the Chairman of Bayelsa State Council of Traditional rulers, King Alfred Diette Spiff stated that the state should not allow the unwholesome and selfish interests of a few to thrive at the expense of the overriding interest of all.

Last week, hundreds of ex-militants in the state grounded both economic and social activities of the state when they blocked the Mbiama-Yenagoa road and engaged the state Police command destroying on of it patrol vehicles while protesting that the state government hijacked the Federal government’s NNPC pipeline surveillance contract.

Politics / Boko Haram: Plights Of Police Widows Who Are Denied Husbands’ Benefits by pendy79: 1:21pm On Mar 21, 2015
THERE has been an obvious lack of care for widows of police officers and men killed in the last six years of Boko Haram’s onslaught in Borno State and the North-East in general.

Although a good number of living police officers and men avoid questions relating to the condition of the families of their fallen colleagues when approached for comments in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, Saturday Tribune observed that the police personnel were worried about the plights of the hundreds of widows and their children. Scores of these widows are yet to get the benefits due to their late breadwinners from the police authorities.

Moved by their predicaments, the immediate Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, had distributed foodstuffs to some of the widows in Maiduguri. While some of the widows told Saturday Tribune that they were scared to speak for fear of witch-hunting by the authorities, others raised their voices and alleged that some people are sitting on the benefits that would have cushioned the effect of the absence of their hubbies and made a difference in their lives.

A widow a mother of three, Zara Mamman, expressed regrets that her family and others sharing the same experience had lost direction since the death of their husbands. According to her, many of the women are yet to get their dead husbands’ entitlements.

“We are being forced out of the barracks and our children are out of school. I am speaking the minds of many women here and I want to use this opportunity to appeal for the release of our husbands’ entitlements to us,” she said.

On her own part, Helen Samuel said her husband, attached to a metro police station in Maiduguri, was killed two years ago, but she could not go back to her village. “I have five children but we are still in Maiduguri because the pension benefits of my husband are not ready yet,” she said.

A 24-year-old man, Mohammed Ali, who claimed to the eldest son of his father, who was also killed in Maiduguri, said: “Our expectation was that once we got the benefits of our father, we would go back to Alkaleri in Bauchi State and settle down. For now, our mother sells baked beans to augment the little we are getting from the police authorities.”

For Jummai Enoch, a widow and mother of two children, she is finding life very difficult. “I have been asked several times to leave the barracks but I refused because I can’t go back to my parents with a burden. I want to get the entitlements of my husband who died in active service,” she said. Jummai said after waiting for a long time, she and fellow widows took their case to some civil society organisations, but they were yet to see the result. She, however, said they would not give up until every penny belonging to their dead spouses is released to them by the police authorities.

The North-East zonal coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Babangida Labaran, admitted the receipt of complaints from some of the widows. “We have approached many pension administrators and have succeeded in fast-tracking the release of the entitlements of their breadwinners. We are still pursuing other cases,” he said.

One Mrs Kuve Matthew Vincent said her husband and several other policemen were killed in a recent attack by Boko Haram insurgents on Gamboru, a border town near Cameroun. She claimed that the deaths would have been avoided if the policemen had been given suitable weapons to confront the terrorists. Kuve, who was one of the beneficiaries of a N1 million gift from government, said: “Our husbands were killed because they were made to confront insurgents without sophisticated weapons and it will be disastrous to allow this to continue.” She added that the Federal Government could have limited the casualties in the fight against insurgents if policemen were well equipped, lamenting that she lost her husband who was only two weeks away from being promoted to the rank of a sergeant.

She said the pain of seeing one’s husband in the morning going to work but having his corpse returned in the evening was unbearable. “Something should be done to stop this ugly trend,” the woman stated. She, however, commended the Borno State police command for its assistance pending the release of their slain husbands’ entitlements.

The advent of PVC and Card readers is one of the best thing to happen to our democratic process and the objection and it's rejection by groups loyal.to JONATAN AND PDP is a clear manifestation of the fear the ruling party have to their vote manipulation being put to an end.

The use of CARD READERS AND PVCs have come to stay and next election we will move on to electronic voting.

That's the same organisation that wants to organize a credible debate between PDP and APC.

I doff my cap for the way the APC get information, I saw the photos of the documents on TVC and I weep for my Country.

No credibility by those in Government and those who sees them as a means to an end for themselves.

Dokpesi opened the Account in May 2011 and 3days later N1million was paid into the Account and a week later N20million came in and another N50million in November 2015. they showed all the data and scanned copies of NEDG registration with CAC and bank details with First Bank,

The PDP plots keeps failing and all gimmicks keeps coming out to the opposition. Now I see why APC said they cant debate on the platform on NEDG

Politics / Politicians Who Cloned Or Buy PVCs Will be Disappointed - INEC by pendy79: 12:21pm On Mar 21, 2015
ABEOKUTA- The national Commissioner of Independent National Electoral Commission in charge of Oyo, Ogun and Ekiti states, Prof. Lai Olurode, has said politicians who have either cloned or bought up the Permanent Voter Cards from registered voters will be disappointed during the forthcoming elections.

Olurode said this yesterday, at the INEC headquarters in Abeokuta while briefing journalists on the preparedness of the commission.

The INEC commissioner who allayed the fears of the electorate over the usage of card readers during the coming elections, said the commission introduced the machines with a view to checking counterfeiting and impersonation during the elections.

According to him, we know some people are cloning and mopping up PVCs , we want to assure them that they will be disappointed.

“What we want to do is to screen out illegal cards because a lot of people are cloning, purchasing and selling of the Permanent Voter Cards but it is a waste of time. That is why we need the media presence in this election, the vigilance group. This election requires a lot of human monitoring because it is different from the previous elections, people must be present, parties must educate their people and their agents”, he said .

While speaking on the level of INEC preparedness in the three states, Prof. Olurode claimed that all the materials for the elections had been on ground even before the earlier scheduled date for the Presidential and national assembly elections.

He however, said PVCs collection in Ogun State has witnessed tremendous improvement , saying,it’s collection has hit 59 percent in the state.

Prof. Olurode revealed that currently there are 589, 377 PVCs that are yet to be collected, while a total of 1,053,230 cards have been distributed in the state.

Apologising for the slow pace of distribution of PVC in the state, the national commissioner stated that it was not deliberately caused by the commission.

He, declared that some registered voters may be disenfranchised as he explained that all the outstanding PVCs might not be ready before the elections.

He noted that the Commission is facing challenges with the printing of the cards.

Dismissing the claim of Ogun State government that the remaining uncollected cards were alien cards, Prof. Olurode explained that besides the fact that some owners of the cards had died, he cited the issue of Redeemer’s University which has relocated to Ede, Osun State after the 2011 registration exercise.

He explained that some of the students registered in Ogun State as well as some students of other higher institutions in the state who had graduated.

The national commissioner revealed that the commission randomly called owners of some of the cards only to discover that they had resident in the state while some had died.

Meanwhile, Prof. Olurode declared the technologies being introduced by the commission into the electoral process was meant to reduce if not outright wipe out electoral malpractices with a view to have a free, fair and acceptable elections in the country.

He explained that some categories of people would not be allowed to vote in spite of flaunting a PVC at the polling booth. He listed them as people with fake PVC, people with another person’s original PVC and people who are underaged.

However, the national commissioner explained that there would be three categories of sorting on the election days, saying the ballot box for presidential position which would be in red colour would sorted to see whether any voter had mistakenly dropped the another ballot paper in it.

This would be followed by the black ballot box for the Senate and blue for the House of Representatives.

Thereafter, sorting according to parties would follow and counting and recording of the votes cast.

Nevertheless, Prof. Olurode charged the electorate and parties agents to be vigilant because all the technology transformations were not all-problem-solving.

The commission’s Resident Electoral Commission, Chief Timothy Ibitoye declared that there were no fears in the state regarding the coming elections.

So after massacring Nigerians who refuse to be displaced, they are claiming "Boko haram" did it.

When has BH ever bothered to bury their victims?

People abeg please wake up and fast.

Read my signature below:

bro this conspiracy does not hold water at least for now based on empirical evidence so far. Let's not accuse based on sentiments and hearsay. Damasak was sacked by Boko Haram since November last year or so and the Chadian and Nigerien Soldiers movement to reclaim the town was well reported on AFP last week.

I watched a state funeral service for about 20 Chadians soldiers killed during fighting with Boko Haram 2weeks ago, are you saying the Boko Haramic Chadian Soldiers killed the non Boko Haramic Chadian Soldiers. Nigeria owes a huge appreciation to the Chadians who took the bull by the Horn by launching a counter insurgency action against Boko HAram.

The fact they reclaim from Boko haram and ask the Nigerian Army to come takeover and mount military presence so they can move on to other areas shows they have no interest in holding territories which was my initial scare about their assistance.

They did same in Northern Mali and never stayed back so please let not spread unnecessary propaganda
