I think NL has evolved way beyond this kind of question. Supposing you rephrase with sth like unwanted traits in a wife or husband.Even then still a bore sad

Love means sacrifies.
Luckily, your first three children might be free from the sickle cell.
(According to science, in every four children, one will be SS)

So Give birth to three children and stop.

If you really love her. Pay that sacrifies.
This calculation is wrong. What doctors mean is that there is a 1in4 (25%) chance in every pregnancy that the offspring will be a sickler.

My guy, u seem to have invested so much in this relationship and you obviously love her, go on and marry her.You may have a half dozen kids all free of ss.Even if any of them turns out to be ss our hospitals are much better equipped now than in the past to handle it.A lot of peeps have ss never having crisis, never ill, grow up to live their dream. Shouldnt be a reason to break up a healthy relationship

We know the roads belong to Governors and their agents but they fail to realize that no one is immune to accidents and whether you survive it or not is not their call
Culture › Re: Nigeria Has More Males Than Females by Pennywise(m): 11:18am On Dec 14, 2008
@OP
The census said nothing about what %age of the men is marriageable-actually minimal which got even worse with the economic downturn.

That leaves a yawning gap between the women available and the men ready to marry them.In order to close this gap married men with the means should be encouraged to take an extra wife or two because they are actually helping the larger society with the stability they bring by reducing prostitution and robberies from untrained illegitimate offspring.

Eii! Has my little screen name gained fame? Na wa o.

And even if what you said were true, then you must be Batgirl responding to the same signal cause the only way you could keep track is if you were following me around in those same topics.  grin

For those of us that don't know what this means please tell us.
Sisterwoman my dear, I am afraid your quest to understand Nigerian culture may never be complete afterall.Abami eda is a phenomenon that was given life by the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti. In one of his 'melodic epistles' he criticized those he felt were unduely critical of amugbo people (junkies).Junkies generally look awful but you can imagine how a typical Nigerian junkie will look like.

Smoking pot or Igbo may make a babe appear kinky in America or europe where its generally not a big deal. But we know the kind of people who smoke Igbo in Nigeria (amugbo pple, courtesy aba mieda).Sometimes it makes you wonder if the Nigerian variety is different.
Car Talk › Re: What To Do When Robbers Want To Take Your Car? by Pennywise(m): 11:56am On Dec 09, 2008
KIDD:
People, i'm in Asaba, my 190 was snatched last year, i co-operated with the buggers and we found the car 3 days later. This year my end of discussion was snatched, they took me for a ride, dumped me on the express, half naked i didn't panic, because of the tracker. Believe it or not d contraption didn't work. It accepted my call, but rejected the password. But i lived. The idiot used my phone to call his girlfriend in Auchi, so we got my call records from MTN, traced his girl and parents (with no help from the police) we have identified and arrested his parents and sister, who tried to cover him, but he is on the run.
Congrats to you bro. What you need to do now is to put up wanted posters with a small reward (most peeps will gladly call for free) in his neighbourhood. When he starts feeling comfortable coming around, you make your move.Meanwhile sit on his parents for as long as possible.
KIDD:
There's a thin line between heroism and stuupidity, if the sh*t works, u a hero, if it fails everyone asks how you could have been so stupid. Now you choose ,
Unfortunately some folks who got shot put up no resistance. Sometimes its just percieved threat where non exists. So, perhaps its best to not only cooperate but reassure and play along.

This thread makes a very interesting reading as it should for every Nigerian living here or even visiting.Thankfully I have never been a victim of an armed robbery attack in my adult life even though sometimes I wonder why grin. Generally, problems are best avoided than solved. And finding yourself in the middle of an on-going robbery is one serious problem bro.

Some people have tried to advance useful tips, here are some of mine:

We need to have situational awareness at all times. In Nigeria you don't have the luxury of being carried away in your thoughts while on the road. People have paid dearly with their lives.See no evil, hear no evil and evil will surely find U. You will be amazed how a little eye contact changes every thing in a setup primed for robbery.

Next, learn to avoid or manage vulnerable points on the road. This will include avoiding identified, notorious blackspots even if it means staying a little while longer in main traffic.Keep your ear to the ground during social interactions and the media for these places. Another vulnerable point is at the entry gate where so many lives have been 'offed'.Treat anyone hanging outside your gate as a prospective armed robber or assassin. Its the cheapest and easiest for them. And do not impede your ability to get away by directly facing an unopened gate.

Avoid really cozy cars at night even if na lift. Our babes in the house, shey una hear.Them say fly wey no hear word dey follow dead body enter grave.

May we all enjoy this Christmas without any sad tale about armed robbers. Amen.

So people, buckle your belts tight, Nigeria might be in for some tough times ahead.
Una be alarmist economists.Nothing new.Nothing dey happen. We survived sap and the worst Abacha had to throw at us.Nigeria go better. When things don improve and 'indices' don go up we will be here to read about your explanation and excuses.

Nigerians be pennywise if you are on a salary. If you are into business let the profit pay for its growth and avoid loans.Do not let our economists give you hypertension because most of what goes on in the Nigerian economy is either undocumented or not properly understood.Yet we dey go. grin grin grin
