Yoruba Leadership Forum has urged all Nigerians, regardless of tribes or religious beliefs, to vote for the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari, as the group has adopted him as their preferred candidate.

In a statement signed by the forum’s Secretary General, Akin Malaolu, Buhari was adopted because he has met their leadership capacity for its adoption.

It reads: “We thank all our members nationwide and also delegates of the All Progressive Congress, who converged in Lagos to choose amongst themselves a presidential candidate.

“We have followed through the course of events leading to the nomination of Mohammadu Buhari and we are happy that the processes were both transparent and democratic. We accept the choice of this honest and strong-willed statesman.

“Precisely in 2011 and at the presidential election, our leadership forum adopted General Mohammdu Buhari and in companionship with our people as our choice and we voted impressively for him, but the results of the 2011 presidential election were skewed to favour the incumbent President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan in several ways.

“Without doubts and speculations, Jonathan did not make those percentages awarded to him in Sokoto, Yobe, Enugu, Zamfara, Bauchi, Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Kebbi, Kogi, Ekiti, Oyo, Adamawa, Borno, Katsina, Plateau, Taraba, Gombe and Nassarawa states.

“We were fully conscious that the victory was stolen by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and this led to violence.

“Today and in companionship with our entire Yoruba people, including all leaders, we wish to state clearly and categorically that General Mohammadu Buhari has again met our leadership capacity for his adoption as the candidate to vote for in the 2015 presidential election.

“We, therefore, urged all Nigerians, regardless of tribes or religious beliefs, to honour Buhari with their votes so that the ring of thieves, who have turned our commonwealth into private properties, can be defeated to save our country, Nigeria, and move her away from our present gloomy foreboding with comforting speed.”

Has Buhari Shot Himself In The Foot? by Chinedu Rylan

At some point it all looked like Gen. Buhari and his All Progressives Congress (APC) team would pose a deadly serious threat to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and wreck their chances of returning the incumbent President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to power come May 29. But all the early good works and concerted efforts to win the sympathy and support of the masses, and gain their votes have been undone, almost single-handedly by the party itself.

Few weeks ago, it was safe to say that the winner of the February 14 Presidential election was anyone’s guess, bearing in mind that the two frontrunners in the elections were – and still are – neck-and-neck in terms of the number of core supporters they have been able to amass. Both, however, would have – and may still be – banking on the support of millions of undecided eligible Nigerian voters whose minds were yet to be made up on who to support and who not to support. Unfortunately, it now seems that the bulk of those erstwhile undecided voters are moving further away from the Progressives, if online sentiments and those in the streets are anything to go by.

I’ve come across several previously undecided voters, both online and offline, who are now almost certain that they will camp under the Umbrella. I went ahead to require of them what informed their decisions and almost all of them were united in their rationales for settling for the PDP. Assuming that I queried 50 persons about their reasons for shifting to the PDP, 45 of them told me that the APC and Muhammadu Buhari have played into the arms of the PDP.

Now, how has the APC and Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) played into the hands of the People's Democratic Party?

The PDP in their campaign trails and in their online push for reelection have never failed to remind us of how intolerant of any form of opposition, ideological or otherwise, GMB has been. They went as far back as his 1983-85 military regime where he put a host of opposing voices behind bars to buttress their point. One would have expected that the general, as a seasoned and elite politician that he is, would in response guard his utterances and be more watchful of what he says or does in the public and to the media, but the reverse has so far been the case.

In a protest letter recently channeled through the legal director of the APC Presidential Campaign Organization, Chukwuma-Machukwu Ume (SAN), General Buhari threatened to file a lawsuit against the federal government-owned Nigerian Television Authority and the privately owned African Independent Television for what he described as “hate documentaries” against him that were aired in the tail end last month by the stations, unless they retract them and issue a formal apology. Such threats and disposition by an aspiring office holder (or even a serving office holder) are rather uncalled for in a democratic setting. The world over, leaders and politicians are scrutinized and castigated by the media on a daily basis and it’s seen as part of their obligations as watchdogs in the society.

If world leaders should file a lawsuit for every alleged calumny or supposed act of “hate” they've been subjected to, then the mountain of lawsuits that would be filed by the likes of Barack Obama, David Cameron, Vladimir Putin or even our very own Goodluck Jonathan will take several generations of humanity to tackle. These leaders are lampooned on a daily basis yet you rarely hear them threatening to sue anyone for it. His own case shouldn't be any different. So my advice to the General is that the sooner he develops a thick skin to withstand all the media "assault," the better for him, because he will be receiving a truckload of it should he eventually win.

In like manner, the leadership of the APC is doing their presidential and vice presidential aspirants and their image as a whole no good by backing out of a series of debates organized by different corporate bodies and organizations within the country in the run-up to the Valentine’s Day polls. Their no-show at the Nigerian Elections Debate Group (NEDG)’s Vice Presidential debates and their anticipated no-show at the presidential debates to be organized by the trio of the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria (NPAN), Arise News and ChannelsTV do nothing to gainsay the allegation leveled against them by the People’s Democratic Party of being fight shy of a public face-off in which they will have to tackle tough questions and defend their manifestos and party agenda before Nigerians.

Though the APC has come out to deny this allegation and have done their best to repudiate the "dodging theory" of the PDP by citing perceived bias on the part of the organizers of the debates as their reason for backing out, the average and neutral Nigerian on the streets is not buying it. The rebuttal has done very little to convince neutrals who are beginning to toe the PDP’s line. My advice to them is that they should vet their options and come up with a positive decision in time, before the election sets in.

For the sake of time and space, I will stop at these. These and many more PR missteps and political miscalculations have conspired to put the party in a precarious position and rob them of the people's goodwill which they once owned. In an election that will likely be decided by the undecided voters, the APC are fast losing speed and direction. Concerted efforts must be made to repair what has already been damaged and put their push for the country's top job back on track, else they run the risk of losing by a wide margin at the poll.

As for equating Gusau, Dasuki, others with Buhari, i sympathise with your naivity of the schisms in Nigeria and religion. We have hausas, fulanis and kanuris with most kanuris being fulanis. BH is made up of mainly kanuris. Within the religion, we have sunnis and shites and there is no love lost between then. The kanuris are mostly sunnis. The muslims BH kill in addition to christians are non-kanuris. From where do you think those volunteers in the civilian JTF come from - yoruba or Igbo ? Of course not. Recall that all top heirachy of the APC were muslims. It wasnt accidental but deliberate. But for the outcry by Nigerians, they were going to field a all-muslim ticket. APC has an inner causus. Buhari himself did say that there was nothing wrong in a muslim-muslim ticket. It was a feeler, preparing, the minds of nigerians for their dastardly evil plan. OBJ replied by warning them against such move. Aside this, Buhari has only grown old but not grown up. He has intellectual and intelligence deficiency. Please get wise and withdraw your support. Without their own in charge, see what BH has done

Middle Belt Dialogue (MBD), an umbrella body of all ethnic nationalities in the middle belt has said that although President Goodluck Jonathan the failed the Middle Belt after voting en masse for him during the last elections, the region wont fare better under All Progressives Congress, Gen. Mohammadu Buhari (rtd).

The Group in a communiqué signed by Hon. Aminu Zang, Mr. Lanre Obafemi, Mr. Mark Jacob and the facilitator of the MBD, Mr. Rima Shawulu Kwewum and made available to journalists yesterday in Kaduna after its strategic summit which held in Jos said middle belt citizens will be rewarding Boko Haram if Buhari is elected as president.

“We have watched in awe as hostile regions and personalities to Jonathan, particularly in the north, attract, secure or corner appointments and projects.

“It is obvious that as a result of our huge political investment by our communities in 2011, they have been exposed to unimaginable genocide and consequent untold hardship, while governments at the state and federal levels have appeared indifferent to the suffering of our people.

“As a result of the genocide, agriculture which hitherto had been the mainstay of the Middle Belt and a major source of economic stability of our people has been ruthlessly disrupted thereby laying the foundation for food insecurity in the country at large.

“Comparable to operations of the supporters of APC during the slave trade era, Fulani militias and Boko-Haram have ravaged and destroyed our communities, attacking serene, quiet settlements in the Middle Belt, thereby killing thousands of people between 2011 to 2014 and sacking hundreds of villages, ensuring that our communities and people were displaced from their regular homelands before the 2015 elections.

“If our people have been so single-mindedly targeted for genocide at a time that the patrons of the Fulani militia and Boko Haram are not in power, how much more would they be able to do should their patrons be put in charge of the federal government?

“Although the federal government allegedly provided funds to state governments to pay compensation to victims of the 2011 post-election violence, it is clear that governors across the north circulated these funds to the communities that perpetrated the violence, destruction and killings.

“The churches and Christian victims have not been rebuilt nor has such compensation been extended to families of victims. No political party or candidate shall be given unconditional support by the Middle Belt.

“Upon careful consideration of the issues above, and the need to invest in the safety and future stability of the Middle Belt, the summit resolved to support the candidature of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in the 2015 presidential election on clearly articulated conditions that the secretariat of the MBD has been mandated to negotiate with the president.

“The political independence of our people is too precious to be sacrificed in appeasing those who believe that our people should not have access to political power.

“The summit therefore unanimously resolved that irrespective of our political leanings, all ethnic nationalities should vote en mass and ensure the success of President Jonathan at the polls in the February 14, presidential election.

“While we are obviously not completely satisfied with Jonathan, we will be eroding our freedom and would be paying/rewarding Boko Haram by even remotely considering the possibility of voting for Buhari.”

Revolution:
GMB MEANS BUSINESS.

I was opportune to listen to Gen. Muhammadu Buhari this morning at State House, Marina, Lagos state. It was a business section tagged ‘GMB MEANS BUSINESS.’

Apologies. I didn’t attend as a paparazzi, hence the lack of photographs and a selfie with the man himself. Also, this is not the place to drop names.

The small venue was filled to capacity as expected, and I was certain the audience was expectant.

Posted below are my personal views of General Muhammadu Buhari, the man whom I heard, for the very first time at close quarters.

The man Buhari whom I heard spoke today is a man that has a mission.

I could almost feel a pain in his voice when he spoke of the issues that have plighted the talented country, Nigeria for decades. You could almost say, he felt sorry for the country.

There was a conviction in his voice and demeanour. His body language was expressive of a man focused on one thing, to put Nigeria on the global ladder of respect. You could feel it.

When he read out the prepared speech, which was monotone a-times, he informed his audience when he had completed the speech. He gently went into the pocket of his flowing ‘babariga’ to produce his prepared hand written note and went on to give a scintillating delivery of his plans for the country – which I would’t bother you with.

At that point, he was better poised and at his best.

He was natural, at ease. No airs about him. I didn’t know he was also rich in humour. He is a very witty man. I see him represent Nigeria internationally with pride.

You know what, he commanded the audience. He had us all engaged.

He gave briefs on how Nigeria fought the civil war and didn’t have to borrow a kobo.

He mentioned how, when he was in charge, refineries were built.

He gave a veiled warning to ‘briefcase contractors’ who mill around Abuja. ” If you know your capacity is N100m, don’t go bidding for a N1 billion contract” he jokingly announced. Joke, I think not.

He also had a warning for civil servants. ‘Anyone engaged in corruption is on his own and will only have himself to blame’ he said, without joking this time.

If truth be written, I was extremely impressed listening to him live.

He engaged an audience of business men and women, and that alone speaks volume.

About seven questions were asked (limited due to lack of time as he was expected today in Adamawa for a campaign rally), and he confidently stood to answer all to the best of his abilities.

He charmed us with his humble charisma.

He got an ovation at the end of his speech.

Finally, in answering a question on continuity of governance, should he become the next elected President, he went on to give an analogy of someone standing on cliff edge. He pointed out that, if the man on the cliff edge chose to continue, what awaits him would be a long painful fall. Hence, he would not continue on that path. He however pointed out that continuity on good projects is good, while he would not be a part of a continuation of bad projects.

BUHARI LIVE – How Impressed was I ?

Some of you guys are just too young to understand the implications of some of these foolish things you come to the Internet to write.
What foolish things ? It is preposterous for you to assume an unknown writter is too young. Do you know their age relative to yours ? And thats one of the dark sides of Igbos - always assuming to be better than others and never seeing anything good in others even when they enjoy your hospitality to the fullest. Sometimes i wonder if Igbos have brains in their skulls. Right from the day Asari Dokubo traced his maternal route to Igbo, they all cowardly and sheepishly lashed on to the entire Ijaw/ND as their partners in liberation project. From the first republic to the 3rd, the Igbos, led by Azikiwe always aligned with the north against the SW but the Yoruba took it all in their stride as matured people and never accused them of hating the Yoruba. But because ACN, which does not control the entire SW aligned with others to form APC, the foolish and beastly igbos started calling Yorubas northern slaves and haters of Igbos. They go to other regions to purchase land to develop but will never allow such previlege to others in their domain. During the pogrom occasioned by them, no single Igbo was molested in the entire Yoruba land. Some of them were shielded and fed who chose not to go home. Those propertied who went and survived had their property plus arears of rent in some cases, handed over to them. Yet, they make the hatred of the Yoruba their pastime. They murdered unity in Nigeria by killing leaders of other regions save their own. Ironsi killed federalism by decree no. 1. He appointed only Igbos to stratigic positions. They made an attempt to acquire the entire Nnamdi Azikiwe street in Lagos at the expense of the Yoruba owners. They might have succeeded if Ironsi hadnt been killed. Up north, they made and distributed posters with Ironsi stamping his army boot on the head of slain Ahmadu Bello thus igniting the pogrom. Ironsi and others foolishly refused to check them thinking being in power is the ultimate and the could do and undo. They reaped what they foolishly sowed yet turned round to blame others for their woes. The worst is that their immatured leaders like Achebe fed them with lies rather than the truth which is further propagated to their ruin. I was a living witness of all these. Nay, are we sure these entities refered to as Igbos are human beings ? Because i do not see their thinking and behaviour as any better than beasts'.

I know that when it concerns Buhari/APC, you will defend the indefendable and thats a shame. I put it to you that even if the debate is organised by all the political parties, Buhari will find an excuse to boycott it for the following reasons-
1) He is naturally arrogant and pompous.
2) He treats people with disdain.
3) He cannot defend his lies against the military board;
4) His false claim of having a certificate when he hadnt any.
5) His lies at a press conference to defend lies.
6) His forgery of a certificate through the Katsina State govt.
7) His senility.
cool
His cancellation of Lagos Metroline project paying the sum of $700m for breach of contract for a project that required only $600m to complete thereby making the govt. lose $700m without a project instead of allowing the project at $600m.
9) He cannot defend his selective treatment of politicians in which he jailed those that were adjudged not corrupt by a competent court in contempt of court while those he overthrew for corruption were treated with red carpet.
10) Buhari is so empty upstairs he cannot articulate simple sentences and ideas without goofing.
11) He doesnt believe non-muslims and non-hausa fulanis have any rights.
12) He cannot defend his threat of dogs and baboons (christians and southerners) soaking in blood.
13) He cannot defend his statement that muslims should vote only for those who will defend their faith in a secular country.
14) A riot broke out in Oyo state between fulani herdsmen and their hosts because their cattles destroyed the latters' crops during Lam Adesina's tenure. Buhari led a delegation from the north. The audience was shocked to hear Buhari say that he only cared about the fulanis that were killed. In other words, he didnt come for peace. He is such a man - not cut out for leadership. No one can straighten a dry fish. Buhari belongs, not just to the worst of old school but to the archaic ancient.

Every wise heart should know that this portends danger to the unity of this country. History will never forgive GEJ if there is a breakdown of law and order among the rank and file of the military.

Infact, this will lead to balkanization of Nigeria with different militia in control of different parts of the country and an endless war of attrition. The resultant bloodshed and confusion cannot even be imagined.

I have no reason to doubt this letter giving the rate at which soldiers are being court martialed at this time. And also due to my interaction with an army officer I gave a ride sometimes back.

I think it is time the council of state told the president the plain truth that some corrupt senior military officers needs to be punished in order to restore confidence and the morale of the rank and file.

And the issue of welfare and adequately equipping the army, especially those at the theatre of war should be giving a priority if we don't want to experience a wide spread mutiny leading to chaos and anarchy.

He that hath ears, let him hear.
Some retired generals still have some clout in the military and may be responsible for some of these things in order to frustrate GEJ. Did you not hear of IBB' s statement recently when he said the boys in the military are boys to all of them old ones by esprit-de-corps ? There is a grand conspiracy against GEJ. Do IBB and OBJ not have terrible corruption issues ? Plus the fact that Buhari has been a sworn enemy of IBB. during Christmas, instead of skyrocketing and you
say that he is a bad President.
10] 2013 and 2014 was the Christmas in Nigeria,
where Nigerian did not sleep in filling stations for
3
to 4 days to get Petrol or 100s of people being
roasted alive in attempts to get fuel in petrol
stations, wickedly, you joined them to say that
our
God given President is not performing.
11] Airports are wearing world class looks and
every zone have International airport and you say
Goodluck is bad.
12] This administration has employed more
people
in their 5years in office than any other in the
history of Nigeria [Via Agric, Energy sector,16
New
Car Companies, 12 New Universities, 3,826

YOUWIN and you say Goodluck is bad.
Now do you think that General Muhammadu
Buhari
will perform magic, which he could not do when
he
was in his 40s, if you vote him?
What else do they want from President Goodluck
Ebele Jonathan?
APC is a party of propaganda so we all know where these demeaning reports are coming from. It all about 2015 and the fact remains that no matter their propaganda and mudslinging, BUHARI WILL NEVER BE PRESIDENT... NOT NOW, NOT EVER.
My bro, am taking this issue personal. All you have stated are verifiable facts plus the fact that GEJ is the only humble, listening, tolerant and accormodating president Nigeria has ever had. My point is, Where are the image makers for the govt. and the PDP? Why cant they drum on these points loudly enough. They have weapons for campaign but are not using it? Added to that is Buhari's non-performance, illireracy and other issues. The only weapon the APC use is corruption whereas all of them and Buhari are corrupt. Anyway, i am Yoruba and i decree that cursed be any Yoruba that vote for Buhari.

By the heavy rains, God is saying what Nigeria needs now is the umbrella and not broom which is useless when its wet. Its a bad omen for APC.

Am body, soul, spirit land language Yoruba back to my great, great- grand parents from Ogun state. Let no one deceive you, as far as the Yoruba is concerned, after Itsekiri, Ijaw is next. And this time we shall align with them to fight injustice. If OBJ loves himself he better relocate to the north because we shall linch him. He stands for chance for forgiveness. He is an abominable yoruba entirely on his own. I feel God arranged GEJ in order to equipe the ND for the kill and am sure he hadnt failed. They will soon discover that he aint clueless, though he may look it.

It is call election not selection, so anybody can win.
By ur statement that "GEJ must win " does not portray u have an idea what election stands for.

Sai Buhari.
GEJ MUST win or Nigeria goes to sleep. Shagari, Buhari, IBB, Abacha and OBJ were worse leaders but were not harangued out of power except through backroom dealings. The first leader from the oil-producing region must complete two terms. Am glad our real and authentic leaders in the SW have shown us the way to vote. Errant and illegitimate yorubas may go against their directive, but they need to know that when the bubble bursts, we align with the Ijaw because they are out distant cousins. Ijaws dont exist in the SW by accident. The time for Nigeria's dismemberment may be at hand. God manouvered GEJ to the seat for a purpose. He is God's project and those against him shall live to regret their actions. His meeting with our leaders in Ondo state is not a ruse so let traitors beware.
