A man left many shocked when he reportedly ‘came back’ to life after he was declared dead by doctors.

A Peruvian man was reportedly nearly buried alive after undertakers found that the person they just put in a coffin was still breathing, Dailymail reports.

The man identified as Franklin Mandujano Doroteo was mistakenly pronounced dead by doctors at the Contingency Hospital of Tingo Maria in Huanuco, central Peru. But, it was later found out that the 24-year-old was heavily sedated, according to local media.

Doctors had pronounced him dead after he was given a sedative as he was suffering a fever following dental work. He was then allegedly brought to an undertaker where his body was prepared for burial.

But as he was lifted into a coffin before being interred, one of the workers is said to have realised he was still breathing. Mr Doroteo was rushed to hospital but unfortunately he was then allegedly pronounced dead soon after arriving.

Now, local news claims Mr Doroteo’s family are seeking justice for their loved one. It is not known whether the police are investigating the doctors for negligence or not. It is also not known whether the mistaken proclamation led to his eventual death, as treatment was therefore not given.

A female operator of a commercial tricycle popularly called ‘Keke NAPEP’, Mrs. Christiana Augustine, says it is no longer an exclusive preserve of men to make a living from operating a tricycle.

Augustine, who holds a degree in project management from the Federal University of Science and Technology Owerri, said on Tuesday in Abakaliki that her desire to become self-reliant was her motivation.

The mother of three called on other women to embrace the business, saying they could also make their own contributions towards their families’ upkeep by embarking on it.

According to her, women only need self-confidence, discipline and zeal to work hard to make their mark in the society as tricycle operators.

“My husband initially objected my involvement in the venture but I persisted to be given a chance to engage in the venture and he was later convinced.

“We are presently happy with the decision because I compliment his earnings and generally support in the family upkeep with proceeds from the keke business,” she said.

She said the involvement of many more women in the venture was only a matter of time, expressing her resolve to promote the lucrativeness of the venture to women.

Augustine pointed out that “gone was the era of relying on men for their basic requirements and getting white collar jobs on a platter of gold.

“I graduated with a degree in project management from the Federal University of Science and Technology Owerri but decided to engage in the business to be self-reliant.

“The tricycle was actually a birthday gift from my husband and I offered it to a young graduate for commercial purposes but he later returned it to me.

“I leased it to another person and when he became insincere with returns, I decided to use it myself for the Keke business,” she said.

Augustine explained that she does not operate the tricycle during odd hours no matter the situation or the number of passengers available on the road.

“My business does not affect my responsibilities towards my family as I plan my daily activities not to clash with those of my business,” she said.

A regular commuter, Ms Ifeoma Ojigwe, commended Augustine’s initiative and zeal to eke out a living in the sector in view of the high rate of unemployment in the country.

“I will consider toeing this line if I don’t get employment after my National Youth Service 2018,” she said.

Another operator, Mr. Abel Ijeaku, said he was impressed with Augustine’s attitude of being self-reliant, expressing his support for her move to attract many more women into the business.

“We also ensure that she is not intimidated by unscrupulous males in the business as her involvement in the venture automatically makes her one of us,” he said.

Time ticked to 4pm yesterday, I didn’t see her. I exercised patience till 5pm before I gave her call, but she didn’t pick. I called for the second time but no picking again. I decided to hold dowm my anger and not to call her again for the day. Around 15mins to 6pm, she called back saying that her phone was on silent. I ask why, and she told me she would explain when she reached my home that she was running short of airtime.

Finally, she came and apologized after explanation of what led to her phone being on silent. I asked her never to worry that am not holding anything against her, that she should be free.

However, situation changed the moment I tried making love with her as she undressed. Down her private part, I perceived the ‘SCENT of CONDOM’, and that was it. I enquired why she smells of condom there, but she couldn’t give me coherent and articulate answer.

Being furious, I slapped and pushed her out of my compound.

Today in the afternoon, I sent her final warning to stay clear from me or I will shoot her skull to pieces.

Finally, guys be weary of whom you date. Most ladies out there are evil.

This is coming just after 42 days as the Lagos CP. According to reports, Edgal will now revert to his old rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).

The letter titled:

Withdrawal of Acting Appointment: AP. 25095 Mohimi D. Edgal and AP. 36665 Aji Ali Janga’, is, however, addressed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Ibrahim Idris, and signed by the Permanent Secretary at the PSC, Mr M.F. Istifanus, on behalf of the Chairman, Mr Mike Okiro.

Justice Abdulazeez Anka of the Federal High Court, Lagos has hands-off a fundamental rights case filed by suspected kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, also known as Evans.

According to Justice Anka, the case file would be returned to the Administrative Judge for further directive.

The judge had earlier heard the case during the court’s long vacation and had adjourned until Aug. 29 for judgment after parties argued it and adopted their addresses on Aug.16.

But the police through its counsel David Igbodo said another lawyer, Henry Obiazi, who represented the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Nigeria Police when the case was heard did so without authorisation.

The police prayed the court to set aside all the purported arguments made by Obiazi and to set aside the ruling it delivered on Aug. 16 in which he adjourned for judgment.

When the case came up before another judge, Justice Chuka Obiozor during the long vacation, he held that the case was no longer urgent.

Obiozor then returned the file to the Chief Judge, Justice Adamu Kafarati for re-assignment to another judge.

The case was subsequently re-assigned to Justice Babs Kuewemi.

However, Evans’ lawyer, Olukoya Ogungbeje wrote the Chief Judge informing him that Anka had already adjourned the case for judgment.

Based on the letter, the case was again returned to Anka.

When the case came up before Anka on Wednesday, he expressed displeasure that the case was returned to him when the issue of judgment had been overtaken by events.

The judge said that since the police had filed other applications, the earlier adjournment for judgment had become void.

Anka added that even if he had written the judgment earlier, it meant that a new one would be written.

In his fundamental rights suit, Evans is claiming N300 million against the police as damages for alleged illegal detention and rights violation.

The Federal Ministry of Health has advised Nigerians to avoid eating monkeys, bushmeat and dead animals as doing so could open one to the risk of Monkey Pox disease.

A medical doctor and no fewer than 10 persons have reportedly been quarantined in Bayelsa as a result of the virus. The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, said this in a statement by the Director, Media and Public Relations in the ministry, Mrs. Boade Akinola, on Thursday.

Adewole said the disease neither had a cure nor a vaccine, noting, however, that there was no cause for alarm as it was mild.

The statement read in part, “He (Adewole) said the virus was mild and there was no known treatment and no preventive vaccines, hence the public should be at alert and avoid crowded places as much as possible.

He advised the public to avoid eating dead animals, bushmeat and particularly bush monkeys.” The minister also revealed that test samples had been sent to the World Health Organisation (laboratory) in Senegal but the result was still being awaited.

He, however, called on Nigerians, who had symptoms of fever, back pain and rashes resembling chicken pox, to report to the hospital. The statement added, “The symptoms include headache, fever, back pains and in advanced cases, rashes bigger than those caused by chicken pox.”

The incident happened in 2016, but the video just made its way to the internet a couple of days ago and it has since gone viral.

According to Jamaican media, the mother has been arrested and currently in police custody.

The continuous protest by residents in Ekpoma under the aegis of Concerned Ekpoma Eminent Stakeholders Forum over epileptic power supply by BEDC has been suspended following an intervention by some eminent personalities.

Edo central Bureau Chief, Fedinard Osakue reports that the suspension of protest was based on the agreement reached by BEDC and the concerned Ekpoma Eminent stakeholders.

Leader of the concerned Ekpoma Eminent Stakeholders forum Tunde Obansanmi and the representatives of the BEDC, Engineer Charles Apor after signing the agreement that is expected to be of mutual benefit to both parties.

For two weeks, Concerned Ekpoma Eminent Stakeholder Forum called out series of protests round major streets of Ekpoma and BEDC office agitating for BEDC to stop estimated billings, reckless increase in electricity tariffs, harassment of consumers with security personnel and request for pre-paid meters among others.

However, to foretell breakdown of law and order, some personalities in Edo Central including DPO, Ekpoma, Rufus Odediran, DSS, Ekpoma, Cyril Okpere 311B Ekpoma, Patrick Izibitti, HOS, Esan West, Mr Imomilche, House of Rep member, Joe Edronwede alongside representative of Onogie of Ekpoma met with BEDC to find a lasting solution to the lingering crises.

It was agreed that hence forth the protest should be suspended, BEDC should restore electricity supply to Ekpoma and its environs, houses, shops, hotels, including banks without meters should pay the sum of two thousand naira only, staff of BEDC should be guaranted safety when they are coming to do their jobs.

Some of the participants who commented on the development described it as healthy.

The residents are hopeful that these development will bring a healthy client and customer relationship between BEDC and the people of Ekpoma.

Following the ongoing military operations in the South East, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has petitioned the European Union, UN.

In the petition dated September 14 and signed by his counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Kanu accused the Nigerian military of intimidation, torture, arrest, abduction and killing of people of the South East.

The letter was addressed to the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, the European Union High Commission, the Presidents of United States of America, Russia and Israel.

In the petition, the IPOB leader urged the UN, EU, US and other countries on the invasion of the military in the region.

Kanu stated that while innocent blood are being wasted in the region, the 1999 Constitution as amended did not allow the deployment of soldiers in the region in a manner presently done by the federal government.

According to Kanu without the intervention of the comity of nations, the killings and torture would continue.

The letter reads: “Unarmed civilians largely made up members of the Indigenous People of Biafra are now being tortured and murdered in cold blood on a daily basis.”

The National Examinations Council (NECO), on Thursday, released the result of this year’s June/July 2017 Senior Secondary Schools results.

According to the Registrar of the Council, Prof. Charles Uwakwe, 745,053 candidates, out of 70.85 per cent of the 1,051,472 that sat for the examinations got at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language.
