Singer Naira Marley has been on trial for a while now after he was convicted for being a Yahoo boy. Many celebrities have reacted to this arrest and eventual bail granted him. Following the unfolding incident, Twitter has suspended the musician’s account.

The singer’s account was suspended only recently. Upon checking his Twitter page, it was discovered that all his posts have been deleted and an instruction concerning his suspension has been put up rather.

It would seem the controversy stirred up by the singer has weighed too much on the mini-blogging platform. Hence, this has caused the social media organisation to suspend the singer’s account.

This is coming after the singer was granted a bail of N2m by the court after spending 10 days in prison custody. The court hearing has been adjourned till October 22 – 24.

The Twitter user, who appears to be a staunch supporter of the arrested music act called on members of the internet community to raise the sum of N10 million for his bail. Many, however, made fun of the young man’s attempt.

“Well, as a public figure, one would usually expect such backlash. Not everyone will sing your praises at all times. Some will definitely find faults with the things you do. So it was expected,” she said.

Since her nude pictures surfaced online weeks ago, there has been a debate on whether the actress had a plastic surgery. However, she was quick to clear the air, saying, “My body is 100 per cent natural. I haven’t altered my body by having a surgery yet. I only dedicate my time to keeping fit and watching my diet. I have never considered plastic surgery. My body is perfect and I love it. I keep in shape so no need for plastic surgery.

“Keeping fit is easy because it is something that can be done anywhere and anytime. It is really easy to combine it with my job. It doesn’t distract me at all. It helps me to also alleviate stress from my life. I love keeping fit.”

Sharing some of the secrets of her success, she said, “It might be hard work, opportunity, and consistency. I am passionate about my job, I take it really seriously. I try to give my best to every role I’m given to play. I put my soul in it. I guess all these things play out well for me in keeping me in the movie scene. The incident is the latest drink-related gaffe to occur during the final season of the HBO fantasy series.

“Game of Thrones” came to an end during its May 19 series finale, “The Iron Throne,” and the episode went viral not just for answering who ends up on the Iron Throne but also for including a plastic water bottle that was mistakingly left on set and filmed into a major scene. The bottle appeared 46 minutes and 19 seconds into the episode during the scene in which Tyrion is walking into a tribunal overseen by the surviving leaders of Westeros. As the camera pans across the leaders, a plastic water bottle can be spotted right behind Samwell Tarly’s left leg (see the photo above).

The plastic water bottle gaffe arrived just several episodes after the final season’s fourth episode, “The Last of the Starks,” went viral for including a plastic coffee cup placed on a table in front of Daenerys. While many initially believed the cup was from Starbucks (the company itself even got in on the fun on social media), a source close to the show confirmed to the Wall Street Journal the coffee cup was actually from craft services. “Thrones” executive producer Bernie Caulfield appeared on the radio program “All of It” in the midst of the coffee cup hysteria and said, “If that’s the worst thing they’re finding, then we’re in good shape.”

Eagle-eyed “Thrones” viewers spotted the plastic water bottle instantly during the series finale’s airing and took to social media to mockingly joke about the show’s continuity problems. HBO acted swiftly when reacting to the episode four coffee cup, as the prop was digitally removed from the scene on HBO Go and HBO now within 24 hours of the gaffe going viral. HBO did not formally announce it was removing the cup at the time, and many fans expect the cable network to act quietly and quickly this time around in response to the plastic water bottle.

The wife of popular Ghanaian actor, Chris Attoh, has been shot dead by an unknown gunman in Maryland, United States.

The victim, identified as Jennifer Bowie, was shot in the head in the parking lot of a Maryland office building by a black gunman on Friday.

According to NBC 4, the 44-year-old victim had left the office in the 6300 block of Ivy Lane and was walking to her car when a man armed with a handgun approached her.

The Greenbelt Police Department said when she tried to run away, the man followed her and fired off multiple rounds, with at least one shot striking her. He then fled in a vehicle.

Officers responded about 5.10 pm and found the woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was declared dead at the scene.

Co-workers said the victim worked at a temporary staffing agency on the first floor.

The assailant was described as black and having a thin build with black hair. He was wearing dark clothing and may have been in a blue car.


Bowie married Attoh last year after the latter had divorced his Nigerian wife and fellow artiste, Damilola Adegbite.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has detailed how candidates who wrote the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations in April could check their results.

Speaking in Abuja on Saturday at a Press Conference announcing the release of the results, the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, directed candidates to send ‘RESULT’ to the short code, 55019, on their handsets, adding that they did not need to patronise a cyber cafe to check their results.

The code should be sent using the same phone number that candidates used to register for the examination, the Registrar said.

The checking of the result is as follows: Type ‘RESULT’ candidate’s surname, first name, and middle name, and then send to the short code.

The service costs N50.

Oloyede said the new way of checking results was to prevent candidates from being exploited by unscrupulous cyber cafe operators.

The board stated that the UTME, which was conducted between April 11 and 17, 2019 across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, was painstaking; describing it as a success story.

Senator Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2018 governorship election in Osun State has been detained by the Nigeria Police.

This was disclosed in a statement on Monday, by his campaign organisation.

The Police have detained Senator Ademola Adeleke after honoring an invitation at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, on Monday.

Adeleke, the Senator representing Osun West at the Senate, had honoured an invitation at the Force Headquarters in Abuja before he was detained on Monday.

The Federal High Court in Abuja had granted the senator the permission to travel to the United States of America for medical check-up. The trip had been scheduled for Tuesday, May 7.

Justice Inyang Ekwo had ordered him to honour a fresh Police invitation on Monday before travelling the next day. He was, however, detained after obeying the court order.

In reaction, the Peoples Democratic Party has protested the arrest and detention of its candidate in the 2018 Osun Governorship election.

The party said the Police action was in total disregard for the extant order of the Federal High Court.

“This is highly provocative, an invitation to anarchy and recipe for a very serious crisis, not only in Osun, but also in the judiciary and our polity as a nation,” the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbindiyan, said at a Press conference in Abuja.

He added, “The arrest and detention of Senator Adeleke is a direct act of violence against our laws, the institution of the judiciary and the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

“This is part of the grand plot by the All Progressives Congress to coerce Senator Adeleke to relinquish the mandate that was freely given to him by the people of Osun State, which was further established by the election petitions tribunal.”

Ologbondiyan said the plot was to drag Adeleke before an “ostensibly compromised magistrate court” over the same issues of alleged forged school testimonial that was already before the Federal High Court.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said it would ensure a smooth and successful conduct of the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Dr Fabian Benjamin, the board's Head of Media and Publicity, disclosed this to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Bwari.

He said that as of April 13, over 1.2 million have successfully written the examination scheduled to end April 17.

NAN reports that over 1.8 million candidates are expected to sit for the board's UTME that commenced nationwide on April 11.

Benjamin said the process of the examination has so far been successful, adding that the board was addressing some of the challenges that came up during the exercise.

He also said that the board was still investigating those who were unable to be verified through its biometric process and would come out with a stand on the matter.

Speaking also on the issue of results, Benjamin said that no results have been released yet.

He explained that the board was still screening the results as the examination was ongoing and also because more fraudulent activities were being identified in the process.

He said: "We have to keep screening these results because there are lots of issues we discovered like multiple registrations, impersonation and the likes, so we are still fishing them out.

"Some have been arrested and those yet to be arrested, we have their records, we will fish then out. However, candidates should expect their results very soon."

He added that the board's suspension of some Computer Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide has not affected the candidates.

Benjamin explained that adequate examination centres was provided to all who registered for the examination.

The board in its weekly Bulletin of the Office of the Registrar for April 15 said that it uncovered and arrested 'Professional Examination Writers' who writes examination for candidates for a fee.

According to the bulletin, 50 of such fraudulent persons were apprehended in centres across the country as a result of various intelligence gathering.

The bulletin also said that the board suspended 49 CBT centres from participating in the ongoing exercise.

The suspended centres which are spread across the country were suspended for failing to live up to expectations in ensuring a seamless examination.

30 of the exam centres were suspended during the start of the exam on April 11, while the other 19 were blacklisted during the registration's exercise; 10 of the centres are located in the FCT.
