From the above in bold you can see that the value was already determined and appreciated before you suddenly went blind ONE DAY!

since the value had already been gotten and all you now have to confirm its the same pieces now is only your sight and then ONE DAY you suddenly lose this much coveted sight and can no longer know if the diamonds or gold have been substituted by rocks since people now have to help you to move around and also help you get the gold and diamond. Would you throw them away since your sight which values them is now gone?

Loss of sight is pain enough as it is for someone who was once able to see so well.

If something one value causes one unbearable pain leading that leads to imminent death then that something becomes invaluable.

Losing one's sight doesn't change the value of an object, e.g a blind man can confirm that money is different from paper by smell, the blind man could still confirm the value of the gold by using his son or someone he can trust.

Life is different from an object, an object loses its value when it cannot be used as a means of exchange i.e when it's too surlrplus or no one needs it.

You analogy would have been correct if it were along the lines of when does the gold stop being valuable, losing one's sight does diminish the value of gold, excruciating pain that only leads to death will surely diminish life's value.

If the gold with its value were to cause harm to humans then it starts to lose its value.
