Thanks guys, though I still needed a password reset before I could login. |
I've done password reset 5 times. Thank you guys for confirming it. |
@cityng inasmuch you are one hell of a harsh, eccentric fellow, you seem to know your onions so well. @siena you've always been our cartalk guru since 1900 ☺ |
philipstweets: from trinity bustop to mile 2 in 15seconds......wif a porshe panamera s. On a sunday oThe speed please |
CityNG: 1) Convertibles are designed to have the same safety features of their roofed counterparts. You are getting it all wrong, roof and roofless, not roof and convertible. |
The best post on nairaland |
Hopefully you might be the one to ship in my supra, twin turbo of course. |
DECOtech: Can we Pls see some pics of your 24yr old Camry? Here is the car sir:
|
That would be my 1989 Toyota Camry, been a reliable companion since 2005 when she was bought, everything still working just few oil leaks which is characterized by car of its age. And lest I forget air conditioning still works(hasn't been refilled) that's we Nigerians always argue that Toyota is the best., though a fan of merc. But my dream classic would be the 1996 or 1993 Toyota supra and 1985 merc 's 500 sel or sec.

CityNG: Are you going to crack open his diff to check his FD ratio?Sorry I don't get what you mean by FD ratio, he snapped his speed @ 240kph on thread 18 of this lovely thread which I've seen. You can educate me more I ain't going no where. |
noxide: *grabs beer and points to CityNG*It's like I will practise with this road a friend of mine has done 200kph with his 04 Honda Accord i4. Ps: @greenhulk Honda Accord was above even 5000rpm, diesel engines are they that good for speed, I'll leave that for another thread. |
I'm beginning to believe the torquiness (mind my language) of diesel engines @ 230 kph still @ 4000rpm on an i4 engine that's awesome let me quickly check @greenhulk 08 accord to see his rpm @ 240kph. |
skj1377: why are you worried? what percentage do you think teenage readers of this thread will add to the already high accident rates in Nigeria. most accidents fatal or not are caused by adults and not teenagers. out of 2568 accidents recorded by FRSC in the year 2013, how many do you think were caused by teens and how many do you think will be caused by teens that have been influenced by this thread on Nairaland.People like are the ones I want to see face to face I like your response , on cartalk this thread happens to be the best thread because it's deviation is also educative. Instead of been unnecessarily edgy let's make it worth it. |
Temas: file is larger than what is allow here. kindly drop your emailpeterjero21@gmail.com Thank you. |
CityNG: I'm not responsible for any outlandish conclusions that you chose to jump too.Thank you. |
Toyota Camry 1999, i4, auto tranny |
CityNG: I never once said that the Tacoma was modified. Be sincere in your discussions .You said I shouldn't judge with the badge as it could be misleading, you then gave example of the Mazda pickup you had. So what we're you implying if not the Tacoma been modded. |
auhanson: Man, its a matter of flare and choice; it gives you satisfaction and confidence of wht you've got under your hood and even the safety that follows your customize stability;also a feel of your ride.. There's no way i can explain this to a non petrol head, but just take a lip from here; each time i enter my cars to drive , i feel this satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment on my steering wheels; even my painting thrills, acceleration, cornering , gear selections thrills me, but that doesn't happen when i'm in other peoples steering wheel, i dont know if you get it? so to me is no hassle but its thrilling getting things tune up that way especially by myself. It's always a huge relief from stress and long day activities, thats why i like travelling in my self driven car 100 percent , do all the twisting and kickdown as i like ..when i am driving my tune vehicles,it's entering into my rest and vacation.Thank God you are beginning to get the drift here, get my point please because you all seem not get me except for @abatically, read all my previous post. I floored a 2008 Toyota Tacoma V6 @ 170 kph with my jalopy 1989 stock Camry which I believe over the year must have lost some power. Now the argument here is if that Tacoma was modified as @cityng as earlier stated, since he said I didn't see d engine. Would one buy a 2008 car and reduce the power? That's d argument and nothing more. I just said I was happy I zoomed pass him with all his power he couldn't maximize to pass me Pronto. |
CityNG: Dude, I've spent hundreds of dollars just to get a measly 5-7 horsepower. As you said 20 horsepower is HUGESo if one wouldn't need an engine transplant or crack a tools box, why then shouldn't I believe the Tacoma I saw was stock or was just modified to get more power with its original engine in place. And I floored it. As crazy as @abatically might sound to everyone here on this thread I seem to understand where he's driving at, take a candid look the few people that have been giving very educative replies to him are diasporians or Nigerians in diaspora. So try to get it down well all of you, as for me till I get my dream cars to modify(1996 supra and 1985 s420 benz) I won't modify any because they aren't worth the hassle for me. |
CityNG: It's completely possible that you made a correct guess but nothing in that picture shown indicates what is under the hood.Again @cityng don't get me wrong here the design of that car is a v6 and if modified as you have opined then, it would either a v8 pr a turbo i4 that was powering that close to or more than 2tons truck, button line is that was way more powerful than my 115hp Camry and 19years newer than my 1989 vehicle, but he couldn't step on the gas like I did. I just had fun doing that, but before you say my car is a sedan and has lower ground clearance, I was in a benz gl 450 driven by a family friend who is also a petrol head as I am he did 250kmh, over took a 2010 land cruiser at 220kmh then overtook a range rover sport at 240kmh before hitting 250kmh and then slowed down to 160kmh. That's an suv that's way more heavier than a Tacoma and as high off the ground like a Tacoma. So I should be happy. @siena once said the guy who drove a benz 190 shouldn't be happy he floored a Toyota hilux, that's because @siena hasn't seen the way Toyota hilux are been driven here in nigeria. |
CityNG: And many do.The Camry thread is only body modifications, by the time one modifies his car no one here can help us with repairs unless specialized garages which are readily not available across the country, if not I would like a 1995 Toyota supra with at least 500hp power plant breathing underneath the hood. Or 1985 benz S 420 all tuned up. Older cars are actually my favourite though. Ps: talking about my immediate environment people I have spoken to about car tuning will just say 'abeg no be so oyibo do the car' |
Here in nigeria, people hardly modify their cars due to our mechanics inability to understand cars from owners perspective and unwillingness to learn new or modern technology. And who in nigeria would buy a a car ad new as a 2008 model and want to modify it. |
CityNG: And as I keep telling you guys you can't tell based on the badge.@cityng I know what I'm saying that ain't no 2.7l engine and how come I knew it was 2008, I know about cars sir, it's a v6 and bigger than 2.7l that was on that vehicle. Take a look at what I saw.
|
Homguy: cool! but you shouldn't expect anymore from a tacoma. A stock 2.7l four cylinder engineNope the the Toyota Tacoma has got v6 badge on it and SR5 badge as well, and that's apparently a 4.0liters engine same found on the fj cruiser I guess. Golf GTI IS A MONSTER. |
I had a small thrill today when I was driving my jalopy(1989 camry) around the eliozu Road in Port Harcourt doing around 100km/h when and 08 Toyota Tacoma Zoomed passed me since my car is old, I floored the throttle and didn't get what I want so I down shifted to gear 4 I hit 130, so when the Tacoma guy noticed I was tailing him he fired more, to cut the long story short, I hit 170 and Zoomed passed him my steering wheel was vibrating already at 140 but was bent on telling the Tacoma guy that my jalopy was well maintained. And I've also beaten my former record of 160kmh on my jalopy. When I buy my audi a4 quattro I will do 200kmh |
CityNG: 1) There's no way you were doing exactly 100mph so there was an estimate done.@cityng you are the man, I was doing 100km /h and for someone who can drive and snap a speedo of 240km/h and me doing 100km/h I can look anywhere that's small speed. Thanks for the enlightened explanations given, I will be disturbing you more often. |
Siena: There are more scientific ways of measuring indicated speed vs actual speed. Using a speed indicator OUTSIDE the car as you drive past, isn't one of them. No human eye (on the same face) can view a car's speedo, and an external speed indicator at the SAME time. The same way using a stop watch to measure 0 - 62 mph (100 km/h) is inaccurate. Thanks Mr siena, but this thing we are talking about is close to my house and I do it everyday just to test accuracy and I seem not to fault it, thanks for the eye opening though. Still trying to be like you. |
You guys here on this thread are unexplanably awesome, @siena hope you don't mind me disagreeing with you? I was doing 100km/h and drove past a road speed indicator (led Road speed limit indicator or whatever name it's called) and it still told me 100km/h so where is d overclocking coming from. Thanks |
