The Manager of Prodest Hotel is among the new cases of COVID-19 in Rivers state. Rivers State has recorded 27 new positive coronavirus cases. The Manager of Prodest Hotel, Eleme is among the new positive cases. This latest development validates the State Government's proactive approach towards the fight against COVID-19. Recall that Prodest Hotel was demolished two weeks ago because the owners violated Executive Order 7 which banned the operation of hotels. The COVID-19 Taskforce members from the Local Government who went to enforce the Executive Order were brutalized and dehumanised leading to the death of one of them. Paulinus Nsirim Commissioner for Information and Communications May 24,2020 PRESS RELEASE BY THE OWNER OF THE HOTEL THE LIFE OF MY HOTEL MANAGER IS NOW IN DANGER; AN SOS I have it on good authority based on intelligent report reaching me today - 24th May 2020 that the manager of Prodest Hotel in Eleme, Dr. Bariledum Job Azoroh, who is a now a deliberate and sinister convict of the Rivers State Government and also a prisoner of the Rivers State Government has been framed up by an unorthodox hired medical officers recruited by Governor Wike with a report that he has tested positive to COVID-19 whilst in detention with the Rivers State Government. The illegal detention facility is in Stadium, Elekahia, Port Harcourt and the Federal Government has since kicked against all forms of illegal detention in Rivers State. The Administration of Governor Wike has no regard for rule of law and feelings for the poor masses. You will further recall that the manager was held by the Administration of Governor Wike and kept in this gangster Stadium facility and surreptitiously tried and convicted last week with a fine of N50,000 and to be isolated for 14 days. This is the worst abuse to citizens human rights under the Quarantine Act. The Rivers State Government and Governor of Rivers State must be held liable for infecting my manager who is in their custody for over 15 days with COVID-19. He was a very healthy person before his arrest. It is therefore medically impossible that the infection occurred before his detention. It is a known fact that I and the Rivers State Government are at daggers drawn over demolition of my hotel. It is a beastial act for the same Government to convict my manager and now infect him with the novel Corona virus. It is also known that the object of the Governor is to kill my manager and his lawyer by conducting some unorthodox medical tracing to the lawyer. The manager is currently under pressure to take some unorthodox drugs that are non-compliant to the NCDC prescription and treatment procedures. Furthermore, the drugs have been prepared locally and it is a poison such that if used will kill the manager of Prodest hotel within 24 hours. The whole world should be aware that Governor Wike wants kill the manager to convince the public that infected persons were in the hotel all in attempt to justify his illegal demolition of the hotel on the 10th of May 2020. The society should therefore be concerned just as I am worried. This is an SOS call. The President of Nigeria should step in now to stop the murderous rage of the Governor of Rivers State. He should submit Dr. Bariledum Job Azoroh to NCDC in Abuja and stop all further acts in this matter. All concerned are by this advised to go into hiding until the President steps in . This situation requires the full implementation of a state of emergency in Rivers State. Signed Mr. Needam, Promise Gogorobari Owner, Prodest Hotel Dated 24th May 2020 SOURCE https://www.naijaverify.com.ng/2020/05/demolished-hotel-manager-of-prodest.html?m=1

U.k Medical Doctor Idee Charles reacts over Pastor David Ibiyeomie Corona Statement. This is the statement made by Ibiyeome that people are talking about Pastor David Ibiyeomi, the senior pastor of Salvation Ministries, in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, has said there is no Coronavirus in Nigeria. He said malaria kills more people, yet no one closed the border because of malaria. He referenced DAAR Communications founder, Raymond Dokpesi who said he was given Malaria drugs when he was being treated for COVID-19 in an isolation centre. Pastor Ibiyeomi added that the virus is just an avenue for our leaders to steal. Speaking from the pulpit, he said: "I told the people, what is Coronavirus? Coronavirus is only a virus that is Corona." He added: "People are making noise about Coronavirus. To me, it's rubbish. Malaria, did we make noise about malaria? "Malaria kills more people in Nigeria than Coronavirus. Everyday people die of malaria. So what are we talking about Coronavirus, closing border up and down for what? "Nigeria does not even have it. I don't think Nigeria has it. "Because, you've heard Dokpesi, he said that they say he had it, it's malaria tablet they gave him. So, if it's Coronavirus, why will they give him malaria tablet? "Nigeria, they're using it to eat money, eat money. Governors eat money, corporations eat money, they tell lies, they'll take money from federal aid. Government, they'll take money from aid..." He also claimed that the Nigerian government is intentionally exaggerating the number of people who have the disease. "In Nigeria, the people who have it, I don't think they are up to the number they're calling. The number they're calling, I don't think it's the number. When one person has high temperature, fever, they'll say 'it's Corona, quarantine him'. SOURCE https://www.naijaverify.com.ng/2020/05/corona-we-are-not-illiterates-and.html?m=1

The Rivers State Government has dismissed reports in the social media that it plans to lockdown Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas for 21 days, describing it as untrue and the handiwork of those who hate the State. The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim made the clarification when he appeared as guest on a live Radio progrmamme in Port Harcourt monitored by The Tide. Recall that Governor Nyesom Wike had announced resumption of the lockdown placed on the two LG areas on Sunday evening, just as the social media was rife that the government plans to lockdown the state for 21 days. Nsirim however explained that since the index case of the novel Covid-19 was recorded in the State, the procedure for information dissemination is that the Governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike makes a broadcasts or addresses the media, while in some cases he been the spokesman of government gives out the information as regards any government intervention in that direction. According to him, “Since the outbreak of the pandemic, there has been a protocol of public communication as regards Covid-19. The Governor wither makes a broadcast or interfaces with the media. Sometimes the Commissioner for Information gives out information as it relates to the intervention of the State Government as it relates to Covid-19. “The people who hate the State have started using the social media to pass information to the gullible public. The Governor and the State Security Council always meet, take decision as to how many days the lockdown will take. “Until that happens nobody should use Facebook or the social media to begin to pass false information to the generality of the public,” the Commissioner explained. Nsirim further said the action of the State Government and the State Security council is to ensure that there is no community transmission of the Covid-19 virus, noting that people need to take responsibility and adhere to measures put in place by government to check the spread of the disease and also observe personal hygiene. The Information and Communications Commissioner said massive mobilization has begun, saying, “Our broadcast vans are going to be used to go to all the nook and crannies of the State to begin to begin to also sensitize the people especially as it relates to the sit-at-home and the wearing of facemasks in public places now. “The thing is that everyone here needs to take responsibility, not when people are still living in denial thinking that this is just something that is made up. But they are seeing the statistics of people who get infected every day. Statistics of people who are dyeing everyday globally,” Nsirim stated.
