Nigeria's Olympics campaign in table tennis is over but not without some world recognition for the country's Segun Toriola. The trio of Aruna Quadri, Toriola and Bode Abiodun were roundly beaten 3-0 by China in the men's team event. Having proved bookmakers wrong in the singles' event in which Nigeria produced the first African to make it to the quarter finals, expectation were high in some quarters but the defending Olympic champions, China, gave no room for errors as they dominated the match from start to finish. Quadri, who played the second game, was the only player who forced a fourth set against Ma Long ending their match at 3-1. With the defeat, Table Tennis event has ended for Nigeria at these Games with the team ranked 9th. The women's team did not qualify for the team event. Despite the disappointment of an early exit there was something to cheer on the night following the special recognition accorded legend, Toriola. A colourful presentation was held at the Riocentro Pavilion 3 in Rio where Toriola was joined by three other table tennis stars that have competed in seven Olympic Games; Zoran Primorac (Croatia), Jörgen Persson (Sweden) and Jean-Michel Saive (Belgium) as well as ITTF helmsman. For Toriola, he hopes that his award can inspire more athletes to aim for the best in their career. "It is a privilege to be next to you both and receive such recognition. I am proud to be in the 7 club with such champions and I hope I can inspire more kids to start playing table tennis around the world. Thank you ITTF for this trophy and everyone for your kind words," an elated Toriola said after the award." READ MORE http://www.petmaxflame.com/2016/08/nigerias-table-tennis-team-makes-early.html

Pope Francis surprised 20 former prostitutes on Friday by knocking on their door in Rome and popping in for a chat. The Argentine, who has repeatedly described the human trafficking behind much prostitution as “a crime against humanity”, sat down with the group, including four women from Albania, seven from Nigeria and six from Romania. The other three hailed from Italy, Tunisia and the Ukraine, according to a Vatican statement. The women, all aged around 30, are being sheltered by a Catholic association in an apartment in the Italian capital after being rescued from their pimps. The 79-year old listened for over an hour to the stories of the former sex slaves, “all of whom suffered serious physical abuse and live under protection,” the Vatican said. The visit fell under what have been termed Francis’s “Fridays of Mercy”, whereby he carries out one unscheduled act of mercy a month on a Friday — mainly in or near Rome — throughout the pope’s Jubilee year, which started in December and runs to November. Urmson did not give a reason for leaving and didn't say where he would would head next. "After leading our cars through the human equivalent of 150 years of driving and helping our project make the leap from pure research to developing a product that we hope someday anyone will be able to use, I am ready for a fresh challenge," Urmson said in the post. When Google first launched its then-secret project to build self-driving cars, it hired a core team of 15 engineers, including Urmson. Led by Sebastian Thrun, the group went from driving modified Prius cars on closed courses, to testing custom-built Google vehicles on public roads in states like California and Nevada. At least one woman has died and five others injured in a knife attack in Russell Square, Central London. This comes a day after city officials announced that they were deploying extra police officers across the city. One of the victims, a woman in her 60s, was treated at the scene but was pronounced dead a short time later. A 19-year-old man was arrested after a Taser was discharged by an officer. The Metropolitan Police says his mental health is a “significant factor” in the events. “Early indications suggest that mental health is a significant factor in this case and that is one major line of inquiry,” London Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley told reporters. “But of course at this stage we should keep an open mind regarding motive and consequently terrorism as a motivation remains but one line of inquiry for us to explore,” he added. History was made in mid-July. Africa's first sustainable biofuel powered flights successfully flew between Johannesburg and Cape Town. The South African Airways (SAA) and Mango Boeing 737-800s used biofuel to power their engines on 15 July 2016. The fuel is made from a tobacco plant cultivated in Limpopo. Under Project Solaris, the plant, also named Solaris, produces small leaves, flowers and seeds which are crushed to extract a vegetable crude oil. It is a nicotine-free, hybridised tobacco plant. Growing the crops locally had contributed to the country's National Development Plan of economic and rural development, said Musa Zwane, SAA's acting CEO. He also noted that the project had established a regional bio jet fuel supply chain, something of which we could be proud. Nico Bezuidenhout, Mango CEO, echoed Zwane's pride. "The project also shows how, when various role players come together and collaborate, success is imminent," he said. read more http://www.petmaxflame.com/2016/07/africas-first-biofuel-flights-take-off.html Cc; Lalasticlala, Ishilove, Semid4lyfe, Obinoscopy come and see oooo
