Any honest Nigerian will admit that Ghana is indeed less corrupt than Nigeria. That is something that we Nigerians will have to work on to be truly the giants of Africa.
Is it only in corruption? what about life expectancy? access to electricity, water, food security, poverty levels, education good roads, even jobs creation. take a good look at the UN Human Development Index I posted. it gives you a good idea.

Ghana tops Nigeria even in FIFA ranking despite Nigeria winning afcon grin

Accept it..FORBES MAGAZINE RATED NIGERIA AS BETTER MANAGED THAN GHANA! SIMPLE! NO WAHALA! NO ARGUEMENT!
Better managed? utter crap. how do you define better managed? better managed and yet more than half of your citizens don't have access to electricity? https://www.nairaland.com/1314971/120m-nigerians-without-electricity-fg http://www.energymin.gov.gh/?p=346
better managed and yet life expectancy is a miserable 52, compared with 64 in Ghana? better managed and yet corruption is endemic? Nigeria is rated 139 most corrupt, Ghana is 64
better managed yet 90% of your people survive on @ a day, compared with 52% in Ghana?
just check out the UN Human Development Index for more comparisons.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_African_countries_by_Human_Development_Index

The World Health Organisation (WHO) says in 2012, 143 out of 1000 children in Nigeria died before their fifth birthday. In Ghana, 74 out of 1000 children died before their 5th birthday during the same period.

The 2013 Global DuPont Food Security Index, which measures food security in 107 countries by looking at factors like food affordability, availability, nutrional quality and safety, ranked Ghana 68 (3rd in Africa after South Africa and Botswana). Nigeria was ranked 86.

Legonviking: Ok I wan see the funny side of petrodolla cool shocked not the fiesty petrodolla
Well, it has to be this way isn't it? It's kinda of funny but I seriously think I have done no wrong. I am very happy with what I do here and have absoiluetly no regrets. You know why? I find it completely absurd that some people or indeed an individual will, without provocation, luanch needless insults on a country and its people. and yet when someone like me reacts, I am seen as the trouble maker. I find that particularly absurd. People are getting with nonsense in the African setting because we are often too quick to intervene. when people misbehave, they should get punished. in my ipion, that is the only way to ensure discipline and fairness. when people know they will get punished when they misbehave, they will watch what they do, trust me.

I will never insult anyone, because I was well-brought. But I social and professional background also drives me to punish those I perceive as law breakers. that is the bottom line. You may ask, why the insults? well, don't ask me. ask whoever provoked me in the first place!

Guys, I have a lot to talk about, but I suggest you wait for my book. I just finished chapter 3. you all will be amazed! I got a great story to tell. so why should I give a fvck? chei, fuckeduppedness

Ma Padi, what most Ghanaians don't understand with these nigerians is that most of them are not human beings like you and I. most are animals. how can you reason with an animal? if a nigerian misbehaves make sure your react in ana even more profound manner. you will make the greatest mistake of your life in you back down and say, well let's me leave it for God or whatever, as we tend to do.next time, he'll do worse. If a nigerian hits you, hit him or her even harder. next time he or she will think twice before bringing their nonsense to you. It had always worked for me, in real life.

I have known nigerians for many, many years. don't be fooled by what they tell you here, because deep down, most of them hate Ghanaians like hell.

Please give your advice to the MUMus, because I am only reacting to the crap they post. and for as long as the want to flex, PetroDolla will be on hand to put them in their places. How can some fooolish nonsensical ediot insult me and you expect me not to respond? what kind of reasoning or logic is that? It is an alien concept to my personal philosophy. and you'll understand if you know my background.

martyns303: @petrodolla. First u said exchange rate has got nothing to do with this, then in ur second step, u said to make calculations based on exchange rate, see how ur contradicting and making a fool of urself? I just checked u out and apparently ur a Ghananian who goes about insulting anybody who mentions Ghana in a thread. Please behave urself.
hahahahaha Mr.Martyns please behave yourself ooooh. I am sure you don't want me to descend on you, huh? You telling me to behave is an insult, huh? don't let it happen again. Go and sin no more

martyns303:
The usual insults by a nairalander, if my choice of words or phrase was wrong please by all means point it out and I'll make the correction. "Got" "get" not sure what ur looking for. I'm simply trying to get info as to how Ghana was able to reform her economy to bring about the current exchange rate and how it affects items in the market. Take SA as a case study, the Rand is going for N15 or so, now a bottle of coke in Nigeria is N60, same coke is going for R10 in SA which is about twice the cost in NIG. Since the Cedi is now higher than the Naira, are items likely to be costly in Ghana compared to NIG? That's what am trying to figure out. Economy is not my area that's why am I, so if u've not got anytin to say, pls behave urself.
you want to know how Ghana was able to reform her economy or the prices of goods in Ghana? why don't you go to ABC terminus in Lagos and ask those traders who trade between Lagos and Accra? they can explain things better. They can even give you practical advise about exchange rates and prices of goods and far more info that you can possibly get on NL.

So you didn't know every country is trying to improve its economy, and Ghana is no exception? You asked how Ghana was able to reform her economy? are you not a nigerian? while other countries are using the resources to develop their countries, you big men are busy chopping your money, huh? that is the basic explanation.

martyns303: Befor going to any country I try to get as much information about that country. I just checked the exchange rate of Cedi to Naira and it was going for N73.65 for the cedi, I remeber back in the day the naira use to be way over the cedi, what happened? How did Ghana got here? What are the immediate effect in the market? Does it mean one will have to pay more naira equivalent for an item that could be cheaper in Nigeria? A fine explaination will be really appreciated
A very useless thread. your statement 'what happened? How did Ghana got here?' clearly gives you away as someone looking for attention. if you want information about naira and cedi, why not treat it as such? if indeed you wish to buy anything in Ghana, what has exchange rate got to do with anything?

common sense tells you all you need to know is the cost of the item you wish to buy in Ghana. that is the first step. the second step is to do the calculations based on the exchange rate.it is simple, isn't it. instead, you are here talking crap and seeking needles attention.

don't worry, I will be back.

Shagati:

Not during the trip to and fro but yes we rode within Accra at night

There was an 18km stretch of road that had been stripped for reconstruction in Benin Republic. (I am sure there is a picture or two to follow) It was very dry and dusty on the outbound journey and very muddy/slippery on the return journey because it rained 2 days before. Almost like Motocross angry
All other roads were fine except the Okoko to Seme stretch which was pot-hole infested. Not a problem for two wheels though as you can go around potholes without slowing down.

None that I can recall

We were well within the speed limits at all times. #Cough! Cough!# lipsrsealed

I can't think of anything to be done differently. This trip is done and dusted. Next Stop? Mali? Burkina Faso? Morocco? wink

OP, nice piece of story. Two things- firstly, you said you rode in Accra at night. Can you do the same thing at night in Lagos? I am just curious.

Secondly, you said the road network was good, except between Okoko to Seme. how bad was that road compared with those in the countries you visited? thank you very much
