As at 1953, the British had had enough of Nigeria. They only remained because democracy had not been rolled out in the north and that is why there was no Northern Nigeria parliament in 1953.

If the idiot Zik was not so engrossed with losing his beloved Zungeru, both western and eastern Nigeria would have declared independence.

The country was virtually being run by the natives through parliamentary authority. The British only still maintained the civil service, police and army under a program dubbed the Nigerization policy which will continue long after independence. That is why there was a British major-general as head of Nigerian forces up till 1963 and also explains why some British civil servants where retained in their positions.

Even the Sarduna stated in that inglorious interview granted the BBC that he will rather higher British nationals than retain the Igbos in the northern civil service.

Zik was the one through the Igbo dominated eastern Nigerian parliament moved the capital from Calabar to Enugu.

Parliaments were already in existence in both the western and eastern regions since 1953.

Western Nigeria already had an emmissary in London by then and parts of the powers vested in these two houses was drafting of the constitution and local administrations.

It was Zik that imposed Enugu on Eastern Nigeria.

A simple Google search on this matter will let you know that Enugu became capital of Eastern Nigeria by an act of parliament hitherto it was calabar.

The issue of herdsmen and farmer killing will die a natural death after 2019 election - whether Buhari wins or not. By that time there won't be any political gain again because if Buhari wins, he can't contest 2023 election - so not point in continuing cheap blackmail even though the crisis may continue, we won't have all these noise. If Buhari loses, the goal would have been achieved - so again no more blackmail.

But I am not making any excuse for Buhari's failure to deal with the issue. He clearly fail on that aspect. But on other aspect, he clearly out shines his predecessors.
