born2fuck: Our midfielder do not click with attackers, our right full back and left full back can't support the attacking either. I think our coach should change to 4-4-2 system, since Emenike is not getting any passes, he should let the midfielder be closer to each other and not playing through non functioning flank this time, we can create two defensive midfielder to support the defence, moses should return to left midfield and we should look for a suitable right midfielder, we should forget the offensive midfielder cos it doesn't function at all,two strikers maybe need while one will be moving back to offensive midfielder to get the ball and other posting as threat to their defenders should they default
Exactly my thoughts,he shld use Ideye and Emenike as d 2 strikers,Mikel n Onazi as d defensive mildfilder, den moses on d left midfield,Mba on d right. If he shld use dat his useleess 4-3-3,we will b Flogged we need to pack dat Midfieldto choke up d Ivorians.I dnt even know wen 9ja started playing 4-3-3.

striktlymi: Good morning Pigiddy,

I am thrilled to know that we still have some individuals who believe in the efficacy of prayers. I am also glad that you have decided to remind us of the need to pray for our dear country Nigeria.

In as much as I agree with you on this but I am of the opinion that prayers alone without works will get us nowhere. In order to make this country great, there is a need to work towards achieving that greatness while we pray.

I believe firmly that in some cases, a country deserves the kind of leaders it has, given that the leaders are a product of the society while the society is a product of the family unit.

For any meaningful change to occur, there must be a change in our orientation which I believe should start from the family. If we get it right at the family level, we will definitely get it right at the societal level hence the leadership.

This might seem to be an uphill task and indeed it is gien that we only have "control" over what we do as individuals and probably at the minimum: one family unit. Difficult as it seems, this is achievable.

Change MUST come, a change for the better is needed but the rhetorical question is: "are you willing for that change to start with you?".

Thank you!

We often complain abt dis country and about bad leadership,it is a common trend in nairaland to always rain abuses and curses on our leaders for their actions and inactions, which has made mosst of us lose hope in this country. But the saddest tin is dat most of us are always swift to rain abuses and curses on this country and slow to pray for this country. We av been abusing n insulting dis leaders 4 a while and still nothing has changed. If we all imbibe the spirit of always praying for dis country anytym we pray 4 ourselves in d morning as christians and muslims b4 going out, and even saying "God bless Nigeria" every morning jez lik d Americans do,den God can do somtin abt dis country. God will surely answer d prayers of 160million pple if we do pray everyday. My take is that"Complain less and Pray more". GOD BLESS NIGERIA.

Politics / Sheik Gumi Predicts Defeat In Mali Of Western Interventioners. by pgiddy(m): 1:03am On Jan 20, 2013
“No Nation Can Fight Islam And Succeed” (Sheik Gumi)

Islamic cleric Sheik Ahmad Mahmoud Gumi has raised an opposing view to the decision by the Nigerian government to send troops to fight on the side of France against so-called “Islamic terrorists” in Mali.
In a post on his website, the cleric argued that there was no justifiable reason to send troops.
He wrote:
“Today Nigerian troops are committed in Mali to fight ‘Islamic terrorists’ without intellectually looking at the repercussion of such an adventure. We all know that the ‘War against terror’ which Islam also fights can easily be turned into war against Islam. There is a thin line between the two. And if caution is not taken, the situation can seriously be dangerous for the nation and more so for the government.
“One thing is very clear. No nation on earth can fight Islam and succeed. A Russian General was interviewed just before the illegal Bush Jr's attack on Iraq to oust Saddam Hussein and he urged Bush to tap into Russia's experiences in Afghanistan. The General said: “I advise the US not to attack Iraq, because if it does that, then it will be fighting the whole Muslim community and whoever fights the whole Muslim community will not succeed”.
"When I heard those words, I was amused. First I knew that Saddam Hussein was not a favorite of many Muslims, I therefore wondered who will fight for him if Iraq is attacked. Secondly, what weapons do the Muslims have that the superpowers cannot defeat in warfare?
“I now see what he means. The Soviet Union fought the Mujahideen for almost 13 years in Afghanistan and ended up disintegrated. Now, the USA is facing a similar challenge that made the Soviet Union unmanageable and finally fall. The USA has been a free country where money flows in and out, where business flourishes with little hindrance. But the moment Bush lied and tried to attack Iraq, a sovereign nation, all the Muslim states - even those that are moderate – were frightened by his recklessness.
“Americans were also frightened of a possible backlash from such an adventure, inflaming an already volatile situation. The end result has been stringent monitoring and restriction of the flow of money in and out of the country. A self-imposed umbilical stenosis, a self-imposed strangulation. Nobody will again trust the USA, therefore people now prefer Asia for their business, medical care and even education.
“All this was started by an idiot who caused untold hardship for his citizens and others alike. Today, Bush Jr and his defense secretary ‘Hamana’ Rumsfeld are nonentities even in their own country. They are not respected and they will forever be tormented with the sights of so many American youth that were maimed and had limbs amputated from the deceptive war against ‘terror’ they manipulated.
“As for Nigeria, we can see a parallel when  in the late 60’s Maj. Nzeogwu assassinated the Northern premier and the Biafran War ensued. Ojukwu, in his declaration of war, said bluntly that he was fighting Islam and the menace of Arabs which he claimed. The end results were that he destroyed lives, went into exile and to date Biafra ceases to exist except of course in the mind of its proponents.
“And worse still for him, Islam has reached the shores of the Delta. This brief description of a chain of events should be a clear counsel to people leading Nigeria today; no one can fight Islam or the Muslims and succeed. It is futile to attempt it. They will only destroy their own lives and cause untold hardship to others. They will be cursed not only by people they injured but by their own people as Bush Jr is regarded now in America. Therefore if the government has such plans or are deceived by some Islamaphobes in their circles they should reverse their policies immediately.
“There is no border sharing between Nigeria and Mali. There is Niger republic, Burkina Faso and Togo in between. All these nations did not report terrorism and yet suddenly we read in the news that ‘the Army Chief of Staff (COAS) Azubuike Ihejirika, who did not offer evidence, claimed that terrorists trained in Mali had already arrived on Nigerian shores.
“If what he said is true, then Nigeria is unnecessarily plunging itself into a War that will have a grievous consequence on our security without any foreseen benefit.
"Let us encourage the Malians to tackle their insurgency peacefully, and not by taking sides. If however, the SS&SE (COAS) wants to use the volatile situation to build on what his predecessor Azazi implanted, then we leave him to posterity. Time will tell. All we do is to urge Muslims to be calm, prayerful and watchful.”. This dude should just be arrested on time before he forms another terrorist group in Nigeria, after the sure fall of BH,cos I can see BH falling.

Sports / Super Eagles Trounce Portuguese 2nd Division Side, Farense 5-0, Depart For AFCON by pgiddy(m): 8:26pm On Jan 15, 2013
By SR Sports
The Super Eagles ended their training camp in Faro, Portugal in style on Tuesday defeating Portuguese second division side, Farense 5-0, in a game described by the Nigerian  Coach Stephen Keshi as dress rehearsal for the team’s opening game against Burkina Faso on January 21.
The match, which was again played at the Browns Sports and Leisure Club in Faro, where the Nigerian side stayed throughout its sojourn in Portugal, was barely five minutes when right back, Efe Ambrose surging run into the danger area of the Portuguese was met with a vicious hacking. Centre referee Luis Costa wasted no time in pointing to the spot.
Chelsea star, John Mikel Obi, stepped in to coolly slot home the opener. But Farense made things difficult for the Eagles as Senegalese born striker, Sone Diop, Falardo and dangerman Fabio Texeira attacked sporadically in search of an equalizer that never happened. The Eagles on the other hand had plenty of chances to have buried the game in the first but Nosa Igiebor hit the cross bar thrice, Mikel followed suit with a fiery shot that also hit the bar and Emmanuel Emenike also missed a sitter.
In the second half Mr. Keshi made sweeping changes. Kenneth Omeruo was brought in to replace Joseph Yobo, Juwon Oshaniwa for Elderson Echejile, Ogenyi Onazi for Mikel Obi, Sunday Mba for Igiebor, Obiorah Nwankwo for Fegor Ogude, Ikechukwu Uche for Brown Ideye, Gabriel Reuben for Efe Ambrose mid-way into the half, same as Vincent Enyeama whoi was replaced by Chigozie Agbim.
There was no immediate impact with the changes until in the 75th minute when an Emenike’s furious onslaught down the left wing of the pitch was clinically finished off by Ikechukwu Uche for one of his three goals of the evening. Goalkeeper Agbim must be credited for his quick counter-attack throw to Emenike.
Uche was to score another in the 80th minute after nice footwork by Ejike Uzoenyi left him face to face with goalie Sergio Serrar. He blasted into the roof of the net. He completed his hat trick of the evening after a fine interchange of passes between him, Onazi and Ejike.
Just as the referee was about blowing the final whistle Ejike set up Emenike for the final goal on the dot of 90minutes for a comprehensive demolition of the Farense side. The referee did not even allow for a restart after the fifth goal.
Farense Coach Antero Afonso said at the end of the encounter that his side has learnt useful lessons from the Nigerian national team and predicted that the Super Eagles will do well at the championship going by the quality of players he saw in the friendly. “You have what it takes to win the championship, but you must take each game as it comes and adopt different styles for different opposition. You have very quick players so don’t allow yourself to be under pressure at any time in the tournament. I may not know the teams that will be at the tournament but the team I saw today should be among the favorites to win the African Cup”, he said.
The Nigerian side will depart Faro by 12:30 Portuguese time for Lisbon from where the team will connect a flight to Paris, France and from there to Johannesburg, South Africa. The team is expected in Nelspruit, venue of two of its first two group games on Thursday morning.

Sports / 2014 World Cup: Prostitutes Are Learning English Ahead Of World Cup by pgiddy(m): 8:13pm On Jan 09, 2013
Taxi drivers and bellboys aren’t the only ones going back to school to learn a little English ahead of the 2014 World Cup to be hosted in various cities across Brazil.

In the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte, prostitutes are lining up for free English classes that will be offered by the regional Association of Prostitution starting in March.

“Across Brazil, lots of businesses in the private sector are getting prepared and making their workers more qualified for the Cup. Well, this is a profession, too,” Cida Vieira, the president of the association, told CNN in a telephone interview.

In Brazil, prostitution is legal, although sexual exploitation and pimping are not.

“English will be very important to communicate with clients during the Cup,” Vieira said. “They’ll have to learn how to work out financial deals and also use a specialized vocabulary with sensual words and fetishes.”

Vieira said that 20 prostitutes had already signed up, but that she expected at least 300 women to participate in the classes once they started.

The association is in talks with teachers and English speakers to provide their services free of charge, similar to deals they have with doctors and health care workers. The classes would last six to eight months.

Belo Horizonte will host football games not only for the World Cup in 2014, but also for the Confederations Cup, a kind of dress rehearsal that will take place in June 2013. Na to go collect Brazil visa b d next tinz oh, Ronaldo and Italian players no go perform wella b dat oh, cos na so so Yansh he go jez dey ram, Brazilians with dier yansh.choi!.
Politics / Jonathan Pays N1billion In ‘Severance’ To Yar'adua Family - SaharaReporters by pgiddy(m): 7:52am On Jan 09, 2013
The presidency has paid nearly N1billion to the family of late President Umaru Yar'Adua, according to an official memo obtained by SaharaReporters.
The slush funds were routed through the Katsina state government, the home state of the former president.

The payment includes about N150 million to Mrs. Turai Yar'adua, as well as the late president's aged mother, his married daughters, and sons.

It is yet unclear if any provision was made for his second wife, Hauwa Umar Radda, whom the late president divorced in 1997, shortly before he became the governor of Katsina state.

Although she has received the biggest payout, it would be recalled that it was the controversial former First Lady, Turai, who pushed Nigeria to the brink of a political crisis between 2009 and May 2010 while her husband was hospitalized in Saudi Arabia. He eventually returned and died inside the Aso Rock Villa.

Mrs. Yar'Adua was at the head of a cabal of Ministers, aides and security agents that manipulated the nation for many tense months as they clung to power, almost leading to the collapse of the government.

Jarus:
Everybody that got nomination(by coaches, captains and journalists, even if one nomination) was among the initial long list released by FIFA way back November.

And getting the first 11 is also easy. Top ranked in each position. Messi (1st), Ronaldo (2nd), and Falcao (5th) were the top ranked forwards, so will automatically mean they are the forwards for FIFA 11. Drogba came 8th, and 4th ranked forward(after the trio). Except you want a strange formation of 4 strikers, Drogba couldn't have made First 11, despite coming 8th overall. Ditto for Pirlo. Yes, he did well, but other midfielders (Iniesta, Xavi, Xabi and who's the 4th again) ranked ahead of him, not because FIFA didn't his face but because the four guys appeared more in coaches and captains' nominations than Pirlo's.

It's that simple. I have never for once believed FIFA or CAF sit down and give someone award.
going by ur analysis, alonsso was neva in the top 10,and Pirlo was in it,so y was Pirlo not in starting 11 ahead of Alonso?

I rily don't lik arguing abt the word of God,bt I can't jez stand dis missinterpretation of the Bible.Acts 15:29 says"That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication:from which if ye keep yourselves,ye shall do well.Fare ye well".What dis means is that we should avoid eating anything that contains Blood because blood is life,as a warning to dose dat believe in eating human beings or drinking of blood,if u read d whole of chpter 15,paul was speaking to the gentiles, who had various believes, dats why he said in the preceeding verse that"For it seemed good to the holyghost and to us to lay upon you no greater BURDEN than these necessary things".and looking @ the latter part of dat verse,"if ye keep yourselves, we shall do well" how will I die cos am refusing blood transfusion mean that I shall do well.is premature death the will of God? When my bible tells me dat I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health. So why will God now be happy to see us suffering and eventually dying, when he has provided all things. Remember the bible says he that knowest the right thing and doesn't do it is guilty." Then if I should go by ur own interpretation of the bible, why do you put on trousers as a lady, wouldn't that be a sin since it is written in Deut 22vs5.or isaiah 3vs 23 dat talks about we as xtians not to put on glasses, den why do you pple wear recommended glaasses, you shld wait now till all of una go blind, rubbissh.pls stop misinterpreting God's word.Cos someone tells you something doesn't mean you shld jez accept it lik dat.
