Managing the economy is more than fiscal and monetary manipulations. The key thing is productive economic activities.

- President Tinubu, please come back home sir. Nigeria needs a new economic foundation.
- Convoke a something like 'National Economic Conference' to develop a nationwide roadmap that will tap the economic potentials of geopolitical zones
- Set up a versatile economic think-tank and keep an open mind to their ideas. Look beyond Wale Edun and work with some crazy young minds to create out-of-box ideas for policies and programs.
- Develop short and long-term Economic and Development Plans and actively Implement it.
- Be positively strong-willed and don't sacrifice crucial things that MUST be done today for tomorrow's 2nd term. Nigerians will always appreciate positive results.
- Stimulate production in different aspects of the economy through incentives, make vital reforms of laws and processes, enthrone intentional concessions, etc.
- Move focus and relocate effort from attracting FDIs to encourage local industries, SMEs and entrepreneurs.
- Create more employments, boost local food production develop creative export drive strategies to earn forex.
Spot on!

Honestly, I'm a bit puzzled about how this move is connected because this morning, the pounds were at 1915, and now it's down to 1730 – a big drop! The government policy might be slow, but it's definitely making an impact. We'll get there eventually.
The Nigerian banks are behaving like enemy of the state!
All the bureau de change are the Nigerian banks
Now what will happen is they don't get to keep foreign currency hence there will be no speculative game.
CBN is moving calculatively, the monitoring staff are already in Lagos by 2nd the monitoring team swarm on the banks.
Any bank chief or board of any bank won't want to dare the CBN at this moment or at their very own risk.

By Monday I predict $1=N750

Politics / Re: ECOWAS Exit: How Benin Republic Is Sabotaging Nigeria by pharmagba: 8:24pm On Feb 01
IamAtikulate:
It pains me when I see people dismissing Niger's exit from ECOWAS. Their argument has always been that the move will hurt Niger more than Nigeria since they depend largely on Nigeria for their imports.

This would have been true if Benin Republic is not sabotaging Nigeria and ECOWAS.

Here's the back story:

Niger's military ceased power Q4 of last year. ECOWAS moved in to restore constitutional order. As part of efforts to squeeze the junta to return power to elected government, Nigeria-led ECOWAS imposed several sanctions, including shutting their borders.

The two most prominent faces were that of Nigeria and Benin presidents.

But December 28, Benin unilaterally lifted all suspensions on imported goods transiting to Niger through the Cotonou port. This was about a month after Niger competed the Niger - Benin pipeline that will allow them export their crude reserve through the port.

Fast forward to January 2024, Niger pulled out of ECOWAS.

Meaning?

Benin deceived Nigeria to shut its borders against Niger, on the pretense it was standing with ECOWAS resolution against Niger. And then goes around to open their borders to the same Niger, effectively isolating Nigeria.

Here's the catch.

In 2022, Niger exported USD 1.256 billion in goods, and imported USD 3.802 billion. With this move, Benin has succeeded in isolating Nigeria's ports from handling Niger's annual USD 5 billion international trade. That's not even all. The same year, Nigeria imported $33.43m worth of goods and exported goods worth $192.91m to Niger.

Now, use your calculator to see the amount of money we are about to lose due to this misguided geopolitics.

Besides, Benin treachery means we are now completely surrounded by unfriendly neigbours - Benin in the West, Niger in the North and Cameroon in the east.

Now, what if Niger decides to build dam across the Niger River to generate electricity? Nigeria now lacks leverage and non-kinetic deterrence.

While our president was busy shouting "constitutional order," our Benin neighbours were busy working behind the scene to strength their relationship with Niger Republic and completely isolate Nigeria.

The most painful thing is remedying this problem will not be a walk in the park. First, importing through Benin is far cheaper and the distance from Apapa to Niamey is about 36 KM longer than from Cotonou port to Niamey.

We have lost Niger and their trade FOEVER.

Well done, Tinubu.

Obidents myopic economics churning and brandishing false figures shamelessly

Tell whoever cares to listen that Niger republic and northern Nigeria are one and same.
Iinfact despite all the railway to Nigeri will soon be completed

He isn't shrewd. His abysmal management of the economy so far should have settled that question for you. And he obviously doesn't understand "the processes" at all. If he did, things wouldn't be this bad.

At least you didn't call him a "first class accountant". Thank God for small mercies...

abhosts:
The CBN gave tens of billions of dollars to dangote at cheap official rate with the expectation that it would save the country foreign exchange in return. If dangote wanted to import crude at global prices to for his refinery, he should have built the refinery with funds from oversees investors and not with cheap CBN dollars.
I see dangote as a person who had always feasted on the loopholes in the Nigerian society.
He had probably want to be taking oil free or boycotting normal payment to Nigeria for his own personal wealth and business.
But behold he met president Tinubu a shrewd auditor who understands all the processes.
Today Tinubu announced that selling of oil is now with the CBN and NNPC is just to product and now Dangote is saying he is going elsewhere for his oil.
What this tells me is that dangote feels he should be worshipped and want to hold Nigeria by the jugular by blackmailing or boycotting Nigeria oil.
All this administration should do is ensure the portharcourt refinery and others including the one by BUA comes on board quickly. This will remove monopoly which dangote crave for. In the end he will come and beg

Politics / Re: Naira Over N1400 To Dollar, Nigeria’s Economy On Brink Of Total Collapse by pharmagba: 7:01pm On Jan 28
Bebigiby1:
To be clear in my opinion I will prefer a decentralized system of government where states are made autonomous and control its security (State Police) and revenues from state natural resources (100%) with no Federal influence but will remit an agreed amount as tax to Federal not how it is been done now that Federal takes all and shares it. If this is not feasible, I am also open to going back to people backed regional government system that will reflect equity. The truth is that current centralized system of democratic government we are running can not and will not benefit us as I said earlier many Nigerians are easily manipulated and weakened by the ruling class due to tribal and religious sentiments…. You can see how many Yorubas in this forum shamelessly defended a drug criminal who was proven to have forged school certificates to become president knowing the damage it will cause the nation…. that’s how tribalistic many Nigerians are.

Your submissions are too myopic devoid of all the realities on ground.
First leave the issue of Tinubu as president , the blunt truth is if I have an organisation like Nigeria and I have Tinubu, Obi and Atiku applying. I will give it to Tinubu, I need a Technocrat and politican wrapped in one his credentials supercede that of Obi and Atiku.
Let me blow your mind because of the system of thing s in Nigeria, 99% of Nigerians have done something incriminating in the past, the difference between Tinubu and the rest is that it is not yet in the public domain. You can hardly get a Saint in Nigeria.
You talk of autonomy as if it is a magical word. If we have autonomy today, will we manufacture new breed of governors to take over? The governors we have now which among them is performing so well that his limitation is autonomy? The truth is none.
With their limited allocation from federation account they are stealing in billions and trillions, guess what happens if they have more? Do you think it will make them change?

I watched her interview, rather than solution, political correctness was her priority..
The sole reason wike choose to work with former senator Philip aduda than her and her colleges in the lower chamber.
I saw that too.
Wike had moved ahead with the speed of light.
I think his experience as a governor of a volatile state as Rivers is handy, he has definitely seen it all in administration of state.
I have got to give it to Wike, he strike me a goal getter. The type suited for the Nigerian nation.
Tinubu indeed is a wise man, giving him the job of the FCT minister will be the best thing that will ever happen to FCT not the previous lame and docile minsters before him

Give me a break. Where in the world do you hear that it takes an Air Force to go after a "kidnapper?" And if an Air Force must be deployed to bomb a mere kidnapper we are to presume that no "kidnappees" are victims in the process. And no, merely deploying the word "terrorist" doesn't cure the problems. All of a sudden kidnappers are everywhere even in Abuja and the state is moving like Rambo to "catch" and "exterminate" or if you like "neutralize" them. In this people like Wike suddenly have an erection and you imagine that all of this, in our dear Nigeria, which we are familiar with, does not have as its end game the diversion of funds. Please, please and please, don't stress me if you don't know Nigeria well enough.

Just stay there and keep saying "Good work, Air Force."

It is just obvious. These are politically motivated
Not only that there are lots of insiders involved in this kidnappings.
Politically I sense that, who ever they are have fought Tinubu with everything from day 1. From his credentials to his policy. He had always won because he has Nigeria at heart.
He will win this way against insecurity as well.
Majority of the enemies of Nigeria are Nigerians working within the system to destroy it collaboration with external agents.
I want to conclude that all this insecurity in Nigeria has to do with 2 things MONEY and RESOURCES ( oil and natural resources). The kidnappings are just diversions. Government should able to link this together
