Politics / Re: Scotland’s Only Oil Refinery Set To Close In 2025 by pharmagba: 9:00pm On Sep 13
malali:
The Grangemouth refinery, Scotland’s only crude processing facility, is set to close in the second quarter of 2025 ,its owners confirmed on Thursday, as the refinery has been struggling to compete with the new complex facilities in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

The Grangemouth refinery, which was opened by the predecessor of BP in 1924, expanded its production into petrochemicals in the 1950s.
However, the facility with a refining capacity of 150,000 barrels per day (bpd) has been unable to compete with the massive new refineries that major oil firms and refiners have built in Asia and the Middle East in recent years.

The refinery’s owner Petroineos, a joint venture between PetroChina and INEOS, on Thursday announced its intention to cease refinery operations at Grangemouth and transition the site to a finished fuels import terminal and distribution hub during the second quarter of 2025, subject to consultation with employees.

But “The INEOS businesses at Grangemouth, namely INEOS O&P UK and INEOS FPS (Forties Pipeline System), will continue as normal delivering high quality services and products to our customers and are largely unaffected by this change,” INEOS said today.

The closure of the refinery will result in 400 job losses as the number of employees at the site would be cut to 75 from 475.

The conversion of the site to a fuel import terminal would “safeguard fuel supply for Scotland” but this terminal would need fewer than 100 employees, according to the company.
Some major oil firms, including Shell and Eni, have recently announced they would convert refineries in Europe to meet demand for base oil and biofuels.

In January 2024, Italy’s Eni said it would convert its refinery in Livorno into a biofuels-making facility in a second announcement of an upcoming closure of a European oil refinery in less than a week.

Eni’s announcement came days after Shell said that it plans to convert its oil refinery at the Wesseling site in Germany into a production unit for base oils.

Perhaps it can work for one of our refineries

I only fled them once and that one since 2012, so let's set sentiment apart.
Before we antagonize our own we must bear it in mind that foreigners don't really like any good thing coming out of our Nigeria.
What infringement? Is high time we stop swallowing everything they cook.
2012?
Then you have to offer me an apology for your comment!
You haven't even been experiencing their abysmal service and yet you come and condemn the UK authority.
Please be quiet!

Which airline in the world doesn’t cancel flight? It happens virtually everywhere, and if you have a bad experience with Air Peace, am sure there are appropriate channels to lodge your complaints for prompt response. However, that doesn’t mean the UK government should not grant it landing rights in the UK. Your experience is just one bad experience out of hundreds of other good experiences based on reviews. Don’t forget the airline is young and still have rooms for improvement.
I am sure you are not a regular flyer,
Go down all my previous post about on Airpeace, even with the price war brouhaha, I have always emphasis exceptional service. That's the only thing that can sell that brand to Nigerian and international community.
Please put sentiment aside, if you like quality service and seeing what Airpeace does to local flyers you will never opt for them when it comes to international flight

You speak like disgruntled man, which airline in Nigeria treats Nigerians well, even your government doesn't apologize to u when they mismanage you.
Where were you when Airpeace conveyed disarrayed and troubled Nigerians from South Africa back to Nigeria free of charge etc, what ur government couldn't do.
I hate it when ppl talk without their brains attached to their tongues.
Read your write up and defence again
And ask yourself if an airline that want to be an international player respond as such.
I am sure if we dig deeper we will find out that Air Peace have infringed on the UK laws that's why they have been denied.

I am sure you are not a regular flyer.
If you have experienced Airpeace local flight you will never opt for them if you have to travel internationally

To Keyamo
This is not what he should lose sleep over
Air Peace has not been treating Nigerians well locally how do they intend to treat Nigerian well internationally.
Air Peace still cancels flight without compensation, delayed flight without explanation and treats local travellers, Nigerians with disdain?
Is that the airline that wants to compete exceptionally international.
Where is charity beginning at home

Keyamo should not waste his time!
Is it with the poor quality of services Airpeace is offering Nigerians on local flight that he want to carry his matter for head?
It is not worth it!
Let see Airpeace improve the quality of their local services then we will know they mean business and have the impetus to say they want to be a big player internationally.
For now, Air peace is not worth it!
Politics / Re: Why Do Nigerians Hate Their Country by pharmagba: 2:15pm On Aug 08
I disagree.
Most Nigeria youth love Nigeria.
They believe in Nigeria greatness.
I have had the privilege of travelling across the length and breath of this country and I can authoritatively affirm this.
But unfortunately, in the last few years the narrative have changed, some individuals have sown seed of discord and cause hatred to Nigeria and other ethnic national within Nigeria. The number one person is Nnamdi Kanu. The extent of his hate speech had gone further than we could ever imagine as a nation, I don't think his release will stop this.
Also Nigeria is bedeviled by individuals that want to enrich the country at the detriment of the nation. This are some class of older Nigerians and politicians. I dare say about 90% are state Governors. Since our return to democracy in 1999, we can only count few Governors that we can say they actually performed. I dare say we have up to 3, in terms of transformational leadership.
Finally there is a physical and spiritual warfare for the soul of Nigeria if Nigeria stands it will be heaven on earth for all nations of the world. Western Power are play on one side and the enemy on the other side.

Back Up Your Business Proposals With Initiatives And Inventions That You Are Already Working On.

Protest Has Not Worked In Nigeria, Rather Many of Our Youths Lose Their Lives During Peaceful Protests That Usually Becomes Uncontrolled And Misaligned.

Let's Begin Submitting And Following Up With Useful Proposals That Can Better Our Immediate Society Instead of Raising Protests When We Are Yet To Do The Needful.

We Need PEACE And PROGRESS,

Politics / Re: Organisers Seek ₦4 Billio‎n Donation As Protest Enters Day 4 by pharmagba: 6:53am On Aug 04
adenigga:

As the nationwide protest enters its fourth day, some of the organisers and supporters of the demonstration have set up pages to raise over N4bn through GoFundMe, a popular online crowdfunding platform.

Checks by Sunday PUNCH show that as of Saturday evening, a total of N4.1bn had been benchmarked to be donated through accounts created by three GoFundMe users.

While each of the fundraisers on GoFundMe has their donations protected, Sunday PUNCH noted that funds had been entering into the accounts, as revealed by the green colour indication on the targets.

A fundraiser, ‘Nigerians in the United States of America and Canada’ as of the time our correspondent monitored it indicated a goal sum of N40,898,750 ($25,000). According to the site, the organiser is located in the state of Washington, US, indicating that the donations would help provide necessary resources for protesters, including medical supplies, transportation, and other essentials.

Rallying for support, the organiser wrote, “Dear friends and supporters, The #EndBadGovernance protest in Nigeria took place today, with citizens bravely standing up against corruption and poor governance. As the movement continues, there are dedicated individuals who will be rallying again tomorrow to demand the change their country needs.

“We urgently need your support to sustain this critical movement. Donations will help provide necessary resources for the protestors, including medical supplies, transportation, and other essentials.

“Your contribution will play a vital role in ensuring that their voices are heard and that they can continue their fight for justice and good governance. We call on Nigerians across North America to show solidarity and support this cause.”

Another GoFundMe fundraiser, ‘Nigeria EO’ indicated a goal sum of N20,950,777.31 (£10,000), which it seeks to have donated by supporters.

“We are raising funds to provide the protesters with much-needed supplies and assistance on the ground. Your donations will help cover the costs of bottled water, snacks, and other refreshments for the protesters, first aid kits and medical supplies in case of injuries, and transportation for volunteers to help organise and support the demonstrations, the organiser wrote.

The third GoFundMe organiser, ‘Endbad Governance’, declared a goal sum of N4,613,379,000 ($2,820,000).

Meanwhile, citizens have raised N1.8m for a protester, Ogwu Chijioke, who admitted he had been struggling to support his son’s ambition to become a programmer.

Chijioke, who participated in the demonstrations on August 1, shared his story with Channels Television at the Lekki Toll Gate.

In the interview, Chijioke lamented that despite his son’s talent in programming, he was unable to afford necessary resources like data and tuition fees.

The interview went viral on Saturday, drawing widespread sympathy and support on social media.

An X (formerly Twitter) influencer, Morris Monye, moved by Chijioke’s story, launched a crowdfunding campaign by providing the protester’s bank account for supporters to raise N1.8m.

Sharing a private message received from Chijioke on X on Friday, Monye noted that the donation target was reached within 24 hours.

Tinubu is a failure. He's the architect of hardship and hunger in Nigeria. The governors are not the one that removed fuel and electricity subsidy. They're not the ones spending trillions on pilgrimage, cars and renovating buildings. They are not the ones that increased VAT. They are not the cause of insecurity in the country as they're not incharge of armed forces and police.

Peter Obi is usually the first to protest and complain about the govt on any given day.

Now we have a gargantuan national protest in the horizon, and the man is totally quiet and silent!

Two days ago, Peter Obi turned 63 and many we'll meaning Nigerians congratulated him on this milestone. However, what is conspicuous is the absence of any message from Wole Soyinka.
Why didn't Soyinka felicitate with Obi?
Why didn't Soyinka show maturity by congratulating Obi since that's what his supporters accused Obi of lacking?
Why hasn't the likes of Reno Omokri written their distasteful articles in condemnation of Soyinka the way he did with Obi?
