I think you would be adding to your wait time by waiting for your payslips then adding to unnecessary paperwork that the caseworker doesn’t need to see. They need evidence that your sponsor can support you not that you have ties to your country and have been working hard. The wait for the visa can be excruciating especially if you don’t pay for priority. 60-90 working days is no joke and even though some people have received their visas at 50-60 working days, you should be trying to save as much time as possible. Also rather than spend money on asking various lawyers, find the tithe fund for Oga Lexus and co

Joyce27:
Thank you for your input. My wife decided to seek two lawyers advice in the Uk one of them said i don't need to show my pay slips since she will be sponsoring me and meets the requirements while the other one said i need to still have 6 months pay slips even if she is my sponsor. Just to be on the safe side we are going to wait and apply when my payslips complete.

If your wife is your sponsor and she earns more than £18600 you don’t need to show your payslips. If she earns less then you need your full 6 months, nothing less, to support her finances.

If your wife is your sponsor, she must have worked for her organisation for more than 6 months and have 6 months payslips.

Who is currently in the Birmingham neck of the woods?

Has anyone applied for Schengen visa etc yet?

Enjoy the bank holiday heatwave

They are so unpredictable. But so far from what many people on this thread have said, they were not asked any serious question. My hubby was asked how excited he was to join his wife and his passport was stamped. If you can find your way to 'home'(where your spouse resides), then there is no point meeting you up if you guys dont see need for it. But IMHO, I would advise your spouse meets you up at the airport in case of any unforeseen contingencies.

Thanks so much for your advice, definitely makes sense what you have said. God bless you.

Hello house, for those of you who have gone to the UK after receiving your spouse visa. Did you get asked a lot of questions at Point of Entry? Did your spouse have to be present at the airport? My husband and I are just weighing up the pros and cons of taking time off work. Are the UKBA guys really annoying? Were you able to carry any food stuff?

Thanks @phatbaby.

God bless you. I actually have picked one or two things that I could use in your response.... especially the screenshot. Like you said, I’m actually going to pick milestones like “birthdays, wedding planning holidays we both went on together and times she cane visiting to Nig” parts of the chats and screenshot them so I can use to back up the chats on word document. I believe you’re absolutely right by pointing it out that they might think or believe that word document could be edited.

Also I’m going to screenshot our WhatsApp calls/video calls which unfortunately (might not be much cos I didn’t think of doing it right from a few months ago like you did your). But thanks again.... I believe it’s never too late as I haven’t even submitted the application yet

Actually I have a lawyer involved in this application and he doesn’t see anything wrong in the WhatsApp history on word document.... only that he said I and my wife must back it up with a cover summarising how we came about the history and how we came about the about 100 pages we plan to compress the chats into. But I strongly believe including the screenshots would even go a longer way in convincing the ECO or whoever is going to handle it

So are you in Brum already or that’s where you will be settling when you enter. Been to New Street a few times.... when I used to go visit my wife’s parents in Birmingham trying to ask for their blessings on marrying their daughter lol

I'll be settling in Brum, it's quite lovely. Good luck to you and I hope you will be receiving good news very soon.

Hello house.....

I’ve been a bit quiet on here. Reason is I’ve been busy compiling documents for my reapplication. As I get to a concluding stage for compilation, I have a question regarding WhatsApp chat history for evidence or proof of communication. Please how do I go about almost 5,000 pages of WhatsApp chat history on Microsoft word. I am aware I’m to edit it and summarise it... please if you’ve been in my shoes before or graduated, how did you summarise your own? Did you just pick two random chats/pages of chat per month or just bits and bobs to form a whole page on word document. Please someone should explain how they did theirs. Thanks

Oh great! Personally, after reading a lot of different forums I went with screenshots and not the downloaded chat. I just felt that the downloaded chat could be easily edited compared to a screenshot. I chose one or two per month going back 3 years and I set the word page to landscape and arranged 3 pics per page. I ended up with around 50 pages. Now remember, it’s all about proving that our relationship was genuine over the time stated so I was trying to show where we started and milestones like bdays, valentines, planning our wedding. I believe every case is different and you might have your own way you want to prove. I supported the chat with screenshots showing Whatsapp voice and video calls on the call log. This doesn’t go back very far but I had remembered to start taking screen shots of that three months before the application. It was just to prove that we talk every day. Again this could all be unnecessary so go with your gut instinct of what you think proves your relationship.

Good luck and hopefully see u at Birmingham New Street station.

Big congrats! This gives me hope cos I’m waiting for mine and I hope it’s good news too. Congrats again. Birmingham is a cool place, Nigerian food is not hard to get there, lucky you! In my own side, only one shop sells Nigerian food grin, it is well!

Yeah I remember you from when I put mine in. Thanks so much. You will definitely have good news, don’t worry. It might be worth organising a meet up in one of the cities in England but I guess that’s for Oga Lexus and co to think about.

I checked the email we received to confirm. It contains the same information.
They do not take that evidence at the TLS any way. You have to send it all to Sheffield in the order they will give you on the sheet.
Good shout paying for priority, at least you will have less frustration. I just think it is too pricey to add to all the other costs.

Good luck and keep your mind positive.

Good I hope to graduate one day too

Guys please I am in a dilemma here... We submitted my husband's application online yesterday, all payments sorted, we applied for Priority Settlement. His biometric is 5th Dec at Ikeja. The appointment confirmation email we received states he should bring printed online application, payments confirmation and supporting documents on the day of appointment. The worry is that I have all of the supporting documents with me in UK and I plan to send them directly to Sheffield from within UK. I don't know if they will turn him back at Visa application centre for not going with the supporting documents. I have been worried thinking about this. Help!!!

Do not worry yourself, they are just chatting rubbish. Just bring his passport, passport photo and the front page of his application. You can print the whole application off if it makes you feel better but they do not take it. The appointment confirmation letter and proof of payment is to confirm he has an appointment and has paid so he can take that. They reject everything else!
Go to the post office and send all your supporting docs asap because once you have paid, you can send them. Put the application form, IHS, VAF form, and all other supporting documents in the order recommended on the gov.uk site. Don't forget to put copies of anything you want sent back and a self addressed envelope.

I did recorded delivery and it got there the next day but some people prefer special delivery. Do whatever one will make you feel secure.

For future reference, I think this link is the most correct guidance on what to take to the appointment:

Well I think it’s safer to get the documents mailed to you in the UK then you mail everything to Sheffield yourself. It is better to guarantee that the documents have gotten to them than have them scan the documents and then some important pages would now be missing.

I know the price is outrageous but my dear, little price to pay to be with your partner.

Please did they keep his passport or tell him to mail it too? So all they wanted was just to scan the data page of the passport, no other document at all? Not even for sighting? I just want to know whether to just walk in with my passport or carry all my docs along for my biometrics. Thanks

They scanned and took the passport so yes just stroll in with the passport, application form and passport photo. The whole process is just something else! Good luck

Just here to update, I was advised by the house that TLS wouldn't take documents but to my dismay they only took my husbands passport and scanned the front of his application form. No IHS, No TB, No VAF form, they said he's got to post every single document to Sheffield.

Is this what every one else has experienced please? I don't know if I'm over reacting but if we've spent £1500, the least they can do is scan the applicants docs while I post mine here in the UK. The most revolting part is TLS then sent a feedback request email. I mean is this a practical joke?

21 Nov - Passport taken, biometrics done

I actually wanted the experts to talk first.lol.

When we went for biometrics, if you see the bag with all our documents (myself and 3 kids), you 'll think that we are travelling but we were told to send everything to Sheffield. They didn't even scan 1 page. What i was told was that all documents, Originals and copies should be sent directly to Sheffield for settlement application. They only collected our passports and proof of payment which was on the first page of our application print out.

But I don't know if there is a settlement scan service under added services which you can pay for.Your hubby might have to find that out at the VAC.

Lexusgs430:

From my Limited understanding, majority of the documentations are submitted in the UK. The only documents submitted in Lagos are, the applicants passport, Biometrics copy of sponsors passport, TB Certs and I sabi spoke engrish certificate .......

All other documents gets submitted to sheffield .......

Thank you guys, at least there is some clarification because the TLS website says two different things so I will go with what you guys have said.
Thank you once again, will keep the house posted about our progress.

Dear House,
I have been reading all the messages here about the UK spouse visa and they are encouraging thank you. I have a question about scan and send service. I live in the UK and my spouse is applying in Lagos. Can I send some documents from here while he still uses the scan service in Lagos? The guidance doesn't make clear if you can use both. It only talks about using either.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello All, please does anyone have the answer to my question? Basically if we can combine postal and scan and send service. I had already given docs for proof of income and half of proof of accommodation to my hubby and he's in Lagos. He wants to use scan and send. And I have the latest bank statement, the proof of relationship stuff and the rest of the proof of accommodation.

Thanks again in advance.
Will be happy to update the house with TL and outcome.
