huangcheng:
How do you get yam, ground oil, rice etc from North to the South?
How do you get refined products from Lagos to Kano?

That's when transport infrastructure comes in not building REFINERIES in far away North, it beats every economic logic. As a matter of fact, there is no need for a tank farm in the North, a working refinery in SS with an efficient railway system can easily service the Northern petroleum need.

Nuff said.
The pipelines are actually transport infrastructure. This is what you fail to see in your hubris. Except if you prefer rail or road transport for crude oil. In which case by your logic, it would be better to transport water from the waterworks to your house using water tankers rather than laying pipelines to your house.
As an aside, when you think majority people are stupid for following a particular course of action, always think again before abusing them; you might actually be the one needing more education.

When i saw your reply i thought you were going to say something logical but i was wrong. How does situating a REFINERY up North facilitate the distribution of refined products? Now this is why i said the average Hausa-Fulani is incapable of complex reasoning. Lagos does not have any refinery but it gets more petroleum product than Kaduna. Imo, Anambra, Ogun does not have refineries but they get more refined petroleum products than Kaduna.

You build tank farms strategically across the country not refineries dunderhead. BTW you did not answer all my questions.
Sorry, but how do you then get the refined products to the tank farms?

The judiciary would have to interpret that part of the presidential powers!!! Bros face reality, in a democratic system all arms of government are powerful and cannot be intimidated by any other arm.

Buhari is powerless over the judiciary and the NASS
Judges are not immune from prosecution and prosecution is initiated by the executive not the judiciary. Where a judge is found wanting, it is a law enforcement team that will gather the evidence. That is part of the checks and balances under the separation of powers; just like the NASS have impeachment powers. Let me ask, do you have anything against the judiciary being kept in order and incorruptible?
PoliticsRe: Sahara Reporters Insults Jonathan On Twitter (Snapshot) by pheliciti: 11:01pm On Aug 06, 2015
Nigerians are too big on respect but short on compassion for the millions of downtrodden citizens that suffered from the misrule, brazen corruption and incompetence of the Jonathan era.
In fact, GEJ is lucky if the only recompense he gets for suffering Nigerians is just the abuse.

barcanista:
It is no news that the exMiinister of Petroleum ceased from holding that office from May 29, 2015. Which board again did Buhari dissolve?

Meanwhile the government only told us that LNG brought $1.6billion. Now we are hearing $5billion! So what happened to the $3.4billion?
You should learn to think more than you talk. NLNG itself made the announcement that they paid $1.6b. So ask them for the balance if you believe there is indeed a balance to be paid. You people without scruples would start a rumour and in some years time make the rumours the basis of senseless documentaries. At any rate, don't you have a job other than stalk and scour Nairaland for any article where you can spew falsehood? Perhaps it's a paid job for you.
I'm sure you prefer Nigeria to continue in the doldrums just so that you can say Buhari failed, just like your beloved employers. Don't worry, to your shame, this country will turn a better leaf from this dispensation by God's Grace.

it's a big honour in the 1st place for the incoming President to be received by Cameron himself and escorted. Remember, he is an incoming President, especially a contemporary of Thatcher who had a no-nonsense approach with the British. Stop reading non-existent meanings.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Should Halt Further Appointments by pheliciti: 10:04pm On Apr 30, 2015
The ridiculous thing is that these are all tenured appointments. Jona wants the incoming govt to fritter goodwill on sacking his appointees. Imagine sacking Ado Bayero's son? It's a poisoned chalice that only a malevolent person can deploy, and some people classify him as a leader?
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Questions Buhari's Victory by pheliciti: 7:27pm On Apr 30, 2015
Editor1:
President Goodluck Jonathan has, for the first
time, questioned the results of the March 28
presidential election, maintaining that the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is still the
dominant party in Nigeria.

Jonathan had congratulated Muhammadu
Buhari, candidate of the All Progressives
Congress (APC), before the final result was
announced but he said on Thursday that he
only did it for the unity of Nigeria.

He said the PDP could not have recorded the
low scores recorded for him in some areas.
The president was speaking at the submission
of the report of the PDP Presidential Campaign
Organisation (PPCO) at the new banquet hall of
the presidential villa.

Jonathan said: “PDP is still the dominant party.
If you look at the result, the difference is just
over two million votes. And if you look at the
areas where it is perceived that PDP scored so
low, PDP couldn’t have gotten those kinds of
scores.”

He said now that the elections are over, “I put
the country first”.

www.thecable.ng/just-jonathan-questions-buharis-victory
The difference between strong men and weaklings is that strong men are driven by their resolve and convictions. They are thus more difficult to mislead or misadvise. If Jona believes he won, he should approach the tribunal and stop expressing futile regrets. It seems like withdrawal symptoms.

I didn't say the president should not be criticized if he is not performing, but wisdom is the ability to recognize who qualifies for honor. Merely criticizing constructively, i.e, presenting solutions to the problems might make you a candidate of a coveted position anywhere.

I criticized some of the policies of my company, and presented solutions to them. Guess what?
I was promoted instantly.

Wise people thrive on constructive criticism!
We are agreed on the need for constructive criticism as well civility in speech which I must admit you have demonstrated in your writing. However we must also recognise that a Chibok parent or the like, try as he may, may not be that civil. Same with a victim of corruption or poor health care. Honour only those to whom it is due; not people you would have sacked for non performance if they were your employees. Perhaps, frank criticism from all quarters will force the incoming govt to perform.

I don't abuse people because my words are like fire, I only advised you. If you had the effrontery to call your president useless and daft, then you are far from being 'comfortable and contended' because your attitude are only exhibited by people who are frustrated and ungrateful. I didn't say you are!
I won't use the words useless and daft. However if you have a CEO or family head who has supervised the wastage of the collective heritage, under whose self confessed levity, about 16000 citizens lost their lives, under whom 30% was eroded from each individual's networth, then the word to use is incompetent. Why should be different for a president? We should move away from the hypocrisy of continuing to praise our leaders when they don't perform. It shields them from the reality check they need. Express your dissatisfaction in any legal way as the President's lot is still better than the fate of the victims of his misrule.
PoliticsRe: APC Accuses Jonathan’s Govt Of Hindering Smooth Transition Of Power by pheliciti: 3:13pm On Apr 30, 2015
Nigeria as it is now is 'unpresidented'. They claim to still be in power yet -
* Morocco withdrew her ambassador to Nigeria and the President did not know;
* a perm sec recalled Nigeria's High Commissioner to SA and the President didn't know until damage was done;
* 3 or 4 Nigerians executed in Indonesia and the President only found his voice after the event.

With all of these anomalies happening one after the other, is it not better to have a serious parallel govt in place than these incompetent charlatans?

barcanista:
The management of AIT are not answerable to Buhari and they owe him no explanation. Buhari has NO right to suspend, intefere or intrude into the affairs of the media whether AIT or no AIT. His action is unfortunate, unconstitutional and can be likened to War Against Press Freedom. You Buharists supporting this show of Tyranny should hide your heads in shame.
Do you remember that this same Jonathan Govt closed down AIT in 2010, detained it's staff and only recently detained Aljazeera staff? Now that GMB tries to protect his right to Private Family Life, you get up in arms. Or didn't you read in the same constitution that GMB has rights too? That's the problem of half education again.

Where I do or don't live should not be your concern, the issue here is freedom of speech. That picture up there is not calling for violence over a particular group of people or any such thing. It is a satirical picture in the style Charlie Hebdo is very well known for, I mean, what were you expecting their take on the issue to look like?

My problem here is people who go about looking for ways they can be offended, then continuing on to express horror at said offence when their expectations have been met. You are not being forced to read the magazine and it is not even under huge circulation, ironically the terrorist incident only made the magazine more popular. My take is, spare us the "righteous anger" please. You can NOT look at the picture if it offends you so deeply.
Great, it's freedom of speech. But why is anti Semitic speech not classified as freedom of speech too? It definitely means that certain speech offend some people's sensibilities. The fact that the offended people are in the minority does not make racial or religious abuse right.

A simple knowledge of fractional distillation shows that only 42% of gasoline can be gotten from a barrel of oil. For our type of oil. now the US energy information assessment agency clearly states that 19 gallons of gasoline and 12 gallons of diesel can be gotten from a barrel of oil. Bloomberg also states nigeria can only meet 16 percent refining capacities of its domestic needs which a large percentage is lost to vandalism and depends on importation for over 70% of its domestic needs.

Every body wants to be an economist now. LOL
Buhari the miracle worker. But let him start with Oando because we know tinubu has a large share there.

PoliticsRe: Buhari Social Program: Laudable, Laughable Or Dead On Arrival? by pheliciti:
Every time I read postings by the OP, I see more that he's a charlatan. First, cash transfer is conditional and will ginger the economy by targeting the most poor on a graduated basis. See the Bolsa Familia program in Brazil and its world acclaimed successes. 2ndly, stopping oil theft can yield more than N100 billion into the economy monthly. If you not know, ask respectfully. Nothing is worse than an ignorant person deceiving people that he knows. On free meals, the target is to improve enrolment in primary schools and also improve child nutrition. This part of the MDGs managed between state and federal government. Again OP, stop misleading gullible people with your ignorance. Funding of this will directly impact on local businesses and agriculture. The money spent will indirectly provide employment and yield tax revenue thus increasing revenue base. No govt creates prosperity by saving but by spending on employment stimulating activities.

PoliticsRe: Considering The Acts Of Public Speaking; Between GMB & GEJ Who Is Better? by pheliciti: 9:35am On Mar 21, 2015
IMO, GMB speaks better. He takes his time, he's contemplative and confident. The logic is usually clear when he speaks. He is however not a good debater because he takes his time before he speaks and thus would likely not fully pass his points across if time limits are imposed. I don't see the accent as a major problem and on this I compare his accent to that of Sir Alex Ferguson who despite his thick Scottish accent is still classified as an orator.
GEJ on the other hand speaks with a bit more clarity but the intellectual content is often missing and his use of analogies is almost always pedestrian. You can hardly get any substance in his thoughts except the scripted part, in which case delivery is flawed by GEJ's poor grasp of the subject. The biggest distraction to listening to GEJ is the ever constant drawl which I suspect leads to the probably wrong allegations of being drunk.

No. You kept mute leaving the impression that you were the one that built those roads. Shame on you!!! See what politics of getting oil well has done to this man. Too bad you won't get anything tho cos Buhari would never win nothing
Bros, the police is Jonathan's responsibility o. It's ignorant for you to ask Fashola to provide security. Even where Fashola assists, it doesn't absolve Jona of responsibility. Also, what roads in Lagos are you talking about?

PoliticsRe: How The APC Plans To Transform Our Lives With 5000 Naira by pheliciti: 11:22pm On Mar 04, 2015
Op,
You have completely misinterpreted the APC manifesto. The conditional cash transfer is for the poorest in society mainly the elderly and disabled and not the youth. It's main target is poverty reduction.

The programme for unemployed youth is entrepreneurship and skills training after NYSC to prepare them for self employment. Please read the APC manifesto and stop misinforming the public. On whether it is grandiose, please expand your horizon before commenting.
Conditional cash transfers is being used as an important tool for economic stimulus in several countries across the world – Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Germany. The most successful is the Bolsa familia project in Brazil.

PoliticsRe: Gej Campaigned With PIB In 2011, Today He Is Campaigning On The Confab Report by pheliciti: 10:48pm On Feb 28, 2015
barcanista:
Idealy, the resolution by the Confab should have gone through a referandum and not further subject to a parliamentary process. Because the confab is the "voice" of the People, its resolutions naturally should supercede parliamentary brohaha. But again the President should have got the endorsement of the Parliament in form of a bill to make the Confab binding and to undergo referandum so as to be endorsed by at least 2/3 Nigeria population of voting age.

Well, the NASS, and virtually every section of our political class were part of the Confab Process. Jonathan sending the report to NASS is like doing what he should have done in the first instance. But the good news is that the NASS will look at the report and passing it ideally should be a mere academic exercise.
The Confab is like "our" resolution
Hi, it's always amusing reading you spew ignorance on this forum. You should please study more before seeking to educate others. First, the National Assembly is not a Parliament. Nigeria dispensed with the Parliamentary system in the 1979 Const. Second, 2/3 majority in the National Assembly is only required to over ride a Presidential veto to a Bill, save where there is a Constitutional amendment which also requires passage at State Assemblies. Finally, the confab report is not the voice of the people. If it is passed, it would be similar to constitutions midwifed by the military. To know a constitution that is the voice of the people, please read up on autochthonous constitutions.
