Guk: Obviously, you are poking fun. Anyway, this bridge was built using the Private Public Partnership btwn Julius Berger and LASG. Julius Berger shall collect Toll on the bridge for a number of years and provide to LASG, their own % earningsSir, JB didn't fund the Project. Initial funds released in 2009 by Lagos State in the sum of N10b. Concession is for installation of tolling system as well as the O&M of the bridge. This information is readily available in the public domain. Tolling, apart from for commercial reasons, would have to be done otherwise, a 2nd free alternate road would amount to a dimunition in the earnings of LCC. I stay on that axis I look forward to plying the road. Thanks |
Please see attached picture of one of the newly completed bridges in Lagos. 1st suspension bridge in Sub Saharan Africa, costs N31b. Just 2 times the cost of the FG budgeted apartment for the VP, priced at N16b. That's where part of the Lagos share went.....

Flyboy Zee: @earthgreener, sorry earthdiggers, sorry I meant, gravegreenass or is it even gravediggers, did I insult you? why didn't you just deal with what I wrote, instead of sh*ting my monicker?Point of correction, the FG does not do any state a favour by repairing Federal Roads. It is a responsibility vested in the FG by the constitution and based on which the FG earns the highest chunk of revenue allocation. The roads in question are Federal roads which were repaired with the approval of the FG. One of such is the Badagry expressway project. Note that Lagos state bears the additional cost of the rail infrastructure and yet the whole construction work is less expensive than the Abuja Airport Road/ Umar Yar Adua Road Project. The lack of FG commitment to local projects like road construction is good premise for the argument that FG should let go of such responsibilities and a commensurate share of its revenue allocation and allow the states handle it. CrazyMan: They are graduates....our future leaders...the soldiers should at least show them some respect.Agreed the soldiers should show them more respect, however they also need to decide that they cannot be subjected to dehumanising punishment. It's a shame that graduates on whom the future of he country depend can in their multitude be told to kneel by just a few persons and they will sheepishly obey. These are things to reject just for the mere principle of it. During my orientation at Ipaja, in 1995, we were made to line up for a parade in honour of the then Minister for Youth and Sport, Jim Nwobodo. The parade was scheduled for 9 am, an extension of the morning drill which started at 5.30 am. The Minister did not show up and we tried to appeal to the reasoning of the soldiers to allow us take breakfast. They refused and we dispersed without their consent when it started raining. The Minister eventually showed up around 12.30 and the soldiers asked us to reassemble in the rain and without breakfast. Of course we refused. The soldiers came at us with sticks and whips and at that time, we had no hesitation in calling the Minister 'ex-convict' which is a fact! The Minister took off and then sent a message extending our orientation camping indefinitely. He released us after a week but we refused to be humiliated. My view, if you want to be treated with respect, reject little discourtesies. |
one_man: This has nothing to do with tribal war. majority of the shipment that dock at apapa belongs to the Igbo man. this has increased the revenue to Lagos state at-large. if the President would keep to his words and make the sea port at onitsha vibrant like Lagos, its only common sense to say the revenue of Lagos will drop.Must your people wait for Federal Govt to built a port at Onitsha. Lagos has already started building a port. Use your monthly allocation to build one. Plus, every State has equal share of port proceeds |
Thank bro, may Allah bless you for this. For those with negative comments, why don't you just ignore and move on? That's obviously easier than spreading hateful messages. The piece was not abusive and directed to a class of people. If was not addressed to you, why should you troll on it? |
