*PMS/gasoline runs hotter in the cylinder*, but it depends on what you mean by "hotter".

1. *Peak flame temperature*
- *Gasoline/PMS has a higher heat release rate* at stoichiometric conditions.
- In stoichiometric mixtures, gasoline’s heat release rate is higher than CNG.
- That means the instantaneous flame temperature and cylinder temperature peak higher with gasoline. c6bc

2. *CNG has higher ignition temp but slower burn*
- CNG has a high auto-ignition temperature of ∼540°C / 813 K. Gasoline ignites easier.
- CNG burns slower with lower laminar flame speed. At stoichiometric, it has a longer burn duration: ∼27° CA vs ∼24° CA for gasoline at 1500 rpm.
- Slower burn + longer combustion means heat stays in the cylinder longer, which is why CNG often causes higher exhaust gas temps and more heat rejection to the cooling system. 0a6ea3eac6bc

3. *Real engine results*
- When a diesel engine was converted to CNG, the cylinder combustion temperature was _lower_ than diesel at higher speeds.
- But in bi-fuel gasoline engines running on CNG, you often see higher NOx and higher exhaust temps at stoichiometric conditions because CNG’s flame develops faster early on and creates higher local temps.
- One study estimated CNG vehicles release ∼1.6x more heat to the environment per km than gasoline/diesel vehicles, worsening urban heat island effect. That’s mostly due to lower engine efficiency, not hotter combustion. 08ff26a11ad4

4. *Bottom line*
- *Peak cylinder temp*: Gasoline > CNG at stoichiometric.
- *Exhaust/heat rejection*: CNG often runs hotter because of slower burn, longer combustion duration, and lower thermal efficiency in retrofitted engines.
- *Ignition temp*: CNG is harder to ignite - 540°C vs ∼280°C for gasoline. c6bc1ad4

So if you mean "which burns with a hotter flame in the chamber", it’s PMS/gasoline. If you mean "which makes the engine run hotter overall", it’s usually CNG, especially in converted cars.

What kind of engine are you asking about - stock CNG engine or a gasoline car converted to CNG? That changes the answer a bit.

CNG explosion is 100% false. I even saw someone said our weather is hot 😂. Our weather hot pass UAE? Or you don't know they do conversion in UAE? Whether the weather is hot or cold, it has nothing to do with CNG. The cylinder is made up of steel, aluminum, or composite materials (carbon fiber/fiberglass) to withstand high pressures of 200–300 bar (2,900–4,350 psi). This means there's no room for explosion or fire.
Again, CNG do no spoil any engine. THIS IS ABSOLUTE LIE! If you have a weak engine (Smoking, oil spilling, Weak metals etc) the use of CNG will eventually expose it because with petrol, you were actually managing it not like you didn't know they needed replacement. But because of the non-emission of carbon from the engine, those plugs and coils you thought were good will be exposed.
Someone even said, you will keep buying plugs 😂 omó una dey cap sha. There's a recommended plug by the car manufacturer for your car, but since you've been using substandard and it was working for you, you may think CNG has spoilt it . If you buy original Iridium plugs, if you change it in 6months using CNG. I owe you full replacement.

I can't even go on. CNG usage is 100% better than fuel as refill stations has been springing up and this has reduced man hours on queue. Yes it eats up booth space and if you're on type 1 cylinder, there's additional weight to the vehicle. Don't let ignorant people deceive you say Oyibo no dey use am. Ask them the malaria medicine wey Dem dey buy, shey America dey use am?

Personally I have not done any maintenance on mine... Other than normal servicing that is change of oil and filter...
The CNG kit is just another tank, piping and gas supply to your engine... Like your petrol supply.. Nothing to service per say...
Except maybe checking for leakages.... You can do this once a year... Personally I have not done it sef..

It's sad that most of the comments on this thread are coming from ignorant people...

First thing you need to understand about converting to CNG is that you are not divorcing petrol... The CNG kit is installed as an addition to the PMS engine. This means you can switch from CNG to PMS and vice versa.

The question of getting stranded on long journeys because of lack of CNG stations doesn't matter as long as you have PMS in your car or can access a PMS filling station.

Yes, CNG doesn't manage bad engine... It reveals even little issues... For a responsible car owner this should help you keep your car in check all the time... And fix the little issues before they turn big problems.

I converted my 2013 Corolla since February 2025, ever since, my Honda CR-V has suffered abandonment cause CNG saves me up to 70% of what I would usually spend on fuelling. For those saying plugs and coils gets spoilt often... That's not true... I just changed my plugs last month since conversion.


Another advantage of using CNG is the lower operating temperature. This extends your servicing period and helps your AC run cooler than when using PMS.

There are only 3 disadvantages
1. Boot space
2. Tank weight
3. CNG power is lower. This only means acceleration doesn't pick as fast as PMS.

My advice to you is to find an experienced expert to do your conversion ...

I have witnessed it not less than 4 times... On one ocassion the culprit had gone before the victim realized it. The penis shrinks to less than an inch and the victim could not stand on his feet... It took the intervention of one Mallam Boka to retrieve it...
On three other ocassions the culprits confessed and gave solutions. In fact they stated when it will return....
The first time it happened around me I was about 7 years old and I wondered why a matured man will pull his trousers in the market and be shouting for help. The culprit was a Fulani man. He was apprehended and taken to the police station.
All these cases happened in Kaduna.
