Oga Lexus,

How about those living in University accommodation and paying their tuition and rent with Form A? Are there ways to build their credit scores since their major expenses are not done via UK banks? Please advise.
Oga Lexus, I'm still waiting for your response to this ooo

Would you lend money to someone, you cannot trace ........🤣

And what would be your measure, to judge the borrower's ability to payback + apr to issue....... 😂

How do you reward people that have been good with credit and punish those that have been reckless.......🤠

You all talk about '' TRUST ISSUE'S ''..... Assuming I asked you to lend/borrow (Grammar no be my language), me £2500..….... How would you feel ......😂

Start by putting your name on the voters list, registering your rental payments, having utility bills in your name, piggybacking on someone with a credit card etc etc ........

I hope I have not further confused you ......😜🤣

Thanks Bro. I called the embassy this morning and was told it is tailored to specifically meet applicant's travel itineraries, meaning it would cover both journeys. But I was advised against applying for it as there are no available appointment dates in the next 2 months. So, I'd rather choose other options. Many thanks

Hello All,
Please, can I use ONE transit visa for both going and return journeys, transiting through a Schengen country to Nigeria?
My search online didn't yield any helpful info. So, I came here to ask. Thanks
My people, abeg I'll appreciate responses on this please. I'm about to book a ticket and would like to be sure before proceeding.

I am in the same position as you my brother. I need my passport asap to apply for an EU visa. Do you have any plans yet? By the way what do you think about us storming the high commission?

Please does anyone have any experience doing this? If we go there , would they let us in ? Do we have any chance of laying hands on our passport?
Is it true that there aren't available appointment dates for all Schengen countries until September? I tried a few countries during the week and all saying no available dates now, try again later. Then I read on Schengen Visa Info that no dates for appts until Sept. I find that kinda hard to believe though as in how does the same backlogs situation apply to all 26 countries at the same time.

I see a lot of criticisms against the student that wants to bring in wife and children. We need to understand that not all students are hungry, there are students that are richer than workers even with 20hr/week work or no work at all.

Make we calm down dey conclude say person made bad decisions especially when we don't know the person or all their sources of income.
I agree with you that many students live comfortably here. At the same time, I won't blame those who seem to be sounding hard on many students with poor choices. I am a student too and sometimes when I see what some of my colleagues are passing through I can't but wonder if they didn't do any research on the current UK economic state before coming. I spoke with a Nigerian woman who runs an NGO in UK last week and she lamented how many of our people are struggling, being exploited by greedy employers who pay them poorly because they desperately need under-the-table work for more than 20 hours. The belief that they would just come and get a job immediately made many come with families with barely enough to survive for a month. Unfortunately, even those ridiculous jobs are getting scarcer by the day. Honestly, there must be a serious mental shift in how people approach this student visa process.

If you will be passing through two Schengen countries during your journey from the UK to Nigeria, you will likely need a short-stay Schengen visa, not just a transit visa. I would recommend checking the visa requirements for each country you will be visiting to ensure you have the appropriate documentation before you travel. It's always best to be prepared to avoid any issues or complications during your journey.
Thank you very much for the information. My only concern is proof of accommodation. Since I'm only transiting through those countries, booking hotels will be a waste of money. But then it's one of the requirements.

Please, would I need a short-stay Schengen visa if I'm traveling from the UK to Nigeria and will have 2 stops in 2 Schengen countries? I'd thought a transit visa would do but my little research seems to show otherwise. Abeg, your answer will be highly appreciated especially from anyone who has experienced this before. Thanks

Please guys, I need advice on this.

My course has the option to choose from either a dissertation or a work-based project. Personally, I would prefer the second option because of the work experience it will offer, but I suspect one may need to find the placement himself. Please, which is best out of these options, and if I'm to go for a work-based project, any idea how best to find an employer for it? Thanks

@Phil46 Asides courses you might be better served doing real life projects. What I mean by this is you can pick up a project and run it as though you are the BA involved in that project after your course. Take for instance digital transformation, you can look up a fictitious organisation that wants transform their operations from a legacy system to a digital one. Lets assume Aiico insurance(this me just randomly picking a random company) wants to do this. What would you do as a BA. It might involve scoping out the requirements, engaging with stakeholders to understand their currrent process(how does the current claims process works, what is the current process of onboarding a customer etc), collaborating with these stakeholders to take gather user requirements and translating that to what the process would be in a digital world. How do you represent these processes, how do you engage the stakeholders to gather requirements(workshops, brain storming sessions etc).

As a Data Analyst what kind of insights can you give that will be lead to profitability for a company or improved processes, there a loads of projects on kaggle that one get dirty with but am all for doing projects that you can relate to. Take for instance Zenith bank might want to to know how their account holders interact with their channels (Atm(cash machines), mobile banking, online banking, Bank branches). As a data analyst if you are able to generate a report in the ages of the different account holders, the number of times they transacted with the different channels, try and see if there is a pattern, is it increasing or decreasing, what might be possible reasons for this trend. How do I present this report to my manager, do I use excel? power bi? looker? These roles involve a lot more than these highlighted above and this is just me putting it loosely. But the point is after going through a course, pick up a project and work on it, it would lead you to ask more questions and gain better understanding of the role as well as excel at interviews. Slowly and surely, you will get there
Hi @Santa2,
Thank you very much for these highly insightful tips. It's just as if I paid for a consultation, and honestly, I really appreciate it. I will make the most of the advice, especially the doing real-life projects part. Sure, I'll surely get there with time - and in Coolio's voice, I see you when I get there
Once again, thank you very much.

Nice one, you can dovetail with a Business Analysis certification BCS BA Foundations and start building a career in Business Analysis or a data analysis course to deepen your knowledge as a Data Analyst which is always a winner in the job market. Develop skills and master Data analytics softwares like Power BI, Tableau or Alteryx. Salesforce CRM is another option. If you can master Data analysis or salesforce CRM, you are good to go.
Thank you very much for the educative tips. I'll start looking towards those suggestions. Though I tried some BA and DA courses back home but couldn't really follow through due to my busy work schedule. Now that I now work part time, I'll devote more time into it. Many thanks Bro

I also just DM you, hope that's fine.

It's not really about the money which In my opinion should not be first consideration as a new immigrant. You need to have the required skills, experience and credentials especially UK recognised qualifications to stand out. I know in recent times, KYC and AML (anti money laundering) related roles are becoming more in demand. Audit especially Technical Audit (a combo of audit and analytics) is becoming more popular. In all, the issues of climate change which is now known as ESG reporting which is a requirement by govt for most companies now has heightened the need for financial reporting with ESG ( Environmental and social governance) expertise. I think with these, one will have an advantage in getting high end roles or jobs. The question however is if one meets the requirements.

I don't work in any of these areas so my knowledge may be limited. Am a Business Analyst within program and change management. I only have some knowledge of ESG as I have taken some courses in it.
Hello Bro,

Please, any advice for someone just starting a master's in Business Analytics, in terms of extra courses to take, types of internships to look out for and how to get them, trends to follow and any tip that could be of help? . Thanks

Did 5 countries at once during the summer.
Then 4 countries in September.

Please note this was a personal choice though, as I am a travel lover. grin grin. I only made sure to use Germany as the country through which I applied for the Schengen visa, as I figured a German visa would carry more weight on my passport than Lithuania or Finland for example. Whichever country you apply through, you can visit all other countries (27 I think) in the Schengen zone. so I chose to go with Germany. However, you can do 1 or 2 countries, it's strictly a personal choice. Another thing is to ensure you still have plenty of time for your study remaining, as it will show you have ties here and will definitely come back to your studies.

Yes I obtained a letter from the school. It's available on the student portal.
Thanks Bro for the detailed response. Yes, Germany and France will be an option I will also explore as my primary destination and then visit other countries I could cover as time and budget allow. Thanks

After 8months, I'm coming back to thank Ralph Lauren again. I followed your tips bumper to bumper. Did a couple of Schengen travels (9 countries in total). I didn't spend up to 1,000 pounds in all (flights and hotels).

Then I applied for the US visa and..... Boom. I got it. Visa officer legit asked if I had travelled internationally since I came to the UK and I remembered what Ralphlauren said about touring Europe. Boldly told him I've gone to Santorini, Germany,Italy, Spain, France, Poland...... Etc etc. Dude just told me the golden words straight up.

So thanks again Ralphlauren.
Great tip!

Please, do you mind sharing how you scheduled and completed your travel to those 9 countries? Was it at once or on different occasions? And did you obtain any letter from your school international for the travel? I'm also new in the UK and would like to explore this option much later after settling down. Thanks

I know it’s really cold right now but you should jacket up and walk around to look for agencies close to where you live. Search for "letting agents near me” on google to find them. Use the walking direction option on google maps to get to each one of them.

You can also put up a post on your school’s Facebook page mentioning that you are looking to rent a room and if anyone has a spare room available to rent.

Finally, have you checked https://m.spareroom.co.uk/
https://www.gumtree.com/property-to-share/uk/room+to+rent ?
All the best!
Thank you very much Amara. Yes, the cold has not being brutal lol, but we muvee. I'm currently using Sparerom and other rent sites and I have like 4 viewing appointments for tomorrow. I'll also check those letting agents and Facebook group options as you rightly suggested. Thanks so much for the heads up.

Hello All,

Please, I need advice on how to get accommodation around Southend on Sea, Essex. I've been staying in an Airbnb since I came on weekend. I'd be happy to hear from anyone around that can help, as well as any tips for getting one ASAP. I've been calling agents and landlords I saw online but haven't got anything yet. It's always, sorry the room has been taken or we will get back to you. The only one I saw was way above my budget, they wanted 750£ per month. I just need a room anywhere close to the University of Essex, Southend campus. Thanks

Good! Way to go.
Once you get to the airport, the medical attendants will be the ones pestering you for a Yellow fever test/documentation.
Safe trip!
Thanks AlphaUno. I went out today, I just decided to branch at the airport and do it once. I took both yellow fever and polio and got my card already.

You don’t need a transit visa but if you still in doubt, it’s best to confirm from the airline.
And if you are vaccinated, bring your card along. Covid protocols have been relaxed worldwide except in China that’s still draconian in her approach.
As for the Yellow fever test, you can get that done when you part with some few naira (1k or less) right there at the airport, just before boarding.
Thank you very much for your response. I am not vaccinated - so no card to bring. I also sent an email to Egpytair Abuja office, asking if any COVID-related requirement is needed. They replied that it is not. That yellow fever vaccination is the only proof needed. So I will just get that.

Thanks so much.

Good morning All,

I will be using Egyptair from Nigeria to the UK this month and would like to be sure on the following.

I will have 12hr 5min stop in Cairo

1. Do I need transit visa?
2. Is any covid process (test, card, vaccination) required?
3. Is yellow fever test required?

Someone just told me about the covid card and I would like to be sure if that's true.

Thanks

Yea you can do this

Exchange Naira for Pounds via any of those apps that supports this and from the app do a transfer to your Revolut account. Saves you stress and comes handy when you need to move funds here from home.
Another good option. Thank you very much, I'm grateful!

Thank you very much. Someone just advised me to withdraw the funds, change to pounds and come with that instead of using dollar-pounds conversion over there. And I think I'll just go by that.

That's correct. You'll be paid in pound (GBP) but charged in USD as on your card.

If you're still in Nigeria, I'd advise you withdraw your USD, exchange it to Naira then use the Naira to buy pounds. Bring your pounds in cash from Nigeria.

It's better than converting your USD to GBP over the ATM.

You can always deposit the GBP to a bank account once you're here.

Phil46
Thank you very much. Yes, I'm still in Nigeria, and will follow your advice to avoid all the bottlenecks associated with USD-GBP conversion.

Many thanks!
