Intelligence manifests in a lot of ways, and in different forms. It could be in how you handle your affairs within social circles, it can also be downright genius acts in commonly done activities in motor skills and human engagements. It could show itself in how you handle a task or even how you take care of yourself, talk to people and help make your immediate environment safe for everyone else in one way or the other.

It might surprise you to know that some gifted people find it hard to excel in a structured learning environment, but will go on to excel in one venture or the other with minimal effort due to the innate abilities they have which structured learning may be suffocating. Studies from the Intelligence Quotient testing introduced by Kaufman, points to the fact that overall assessment based on a structured testing may not be the best way to actually understand the comprehension level of any child or individual at any given time.

So, in a nutshell, intelligence does manifest itself in every passing second of our lives in different ways. Structured testing is acceptably one of the easiest ways to rate a person’s understanding of things, but not the only way.

1] You Are Curious.

A mind that is always ready to learn more is an intelligent mind. If you find yourself always curious about things, then it shows that you want to learn more about those things. The further you dive into a single topic, the more it takes you deeper into other areas and to a point where you feel you actually understand what the subject matter is all about. This brings more learning and better learning means.

The process alone would have shown you means to an end, like someone who recently discovered search engines and what it can do for their online queries. The person might be doing the query and an ad pops up and gets the person fixated. Then it happened that the ad is the answer to their real query. Now think of all the various components [People] and variables[politics, genetics, social circles, traditions, cultures] that must have worked in sync to make sure that this particular act happens – a structured design that doesn’t know you, but knows you will probably find it if you seek for it online. Is that magic?

It’s like a matrix, and it usually works in such a way that if you are curious enough, something will give back. So, if you find yourself being too curious, that’s because you are seeking to understand something better. That’s a big sign of intelligence.

A US man based in Washington DC decided to take a paternal test after the birth of his child, but the result he got shocked him and everyone. Determined to further know the mystery behind the result, the father did a 23andMe test –

The father had to go the extent to order a 23andMe because the child in question was conceived through Vitro fertilisation and he was the only person that donated his sperm for it.

From the 23andMe test, it was revealed that he is not the father of the child, but rather an uncle to the child. How did this happen?
Well, scientifically as was explained, the father is a twin. However, he is said to have absorbed his other twin while they were still in the womb. This absorption made it possible for 10% of his sperm to be that of his unborn twin brother, while the remaining 90% belonged to him. It was discovered that the child was conceived from the 10% sperm of his unborn twin brother who now lives in him.

In a recent publication by The Nation Newspaper, a statement was attributed to the popular Christian pastor, Apostle Suleiman.

In the publication, the pastor was quoted as saying –

“There is a vaccine that’s going on that people are taking now, after you take the vaccine you are still to wear your face mask, you are still to do social distancing, you are still not to shake hands with people, you are still to do every protocol.

“Some people have come up with all kind of theories, I don’t know what they call conspiracy but I could know that it’s theories and some say it’s the mark of the beast.

“What I saw in it, I’ll not take it. Forget all those ones they are showing you one governor taking it. Oh, you think that thing they are putting in him, you think that’s what they are coming to put in you?”

It really gets annoying when all this pastors who know nothing about public health or medical practice in general starts giving personal opinions based on their conspiracy theories on issues they should not be meddling with. People who have found themselves at a highly placed position in this country should be mindful of what they say in public. Recently, the UK Government fined Pastor Chris Oyakhilome for propagating conspiracy theories – I wonder why Nigeria is not following in that footstep with the continuous illogical utterances being propagated by some of this pastors.

Last year, a popular US pastor was heavily theorizing the pandemic, raising all sorts of conspiracy theories. But, he ended up contracting the killer virus and paid the ultimate price with his life because he thought the government was propagating fear through the virus. Apostle Suleiman is doing the same thing.

If he doesn’t want to get vaccinated, that’s his business. But, he doesn’t have the right or locus to express that in his position and capacity as a public figure who people listen to. Tomorrow, he might get sick and go treat himself because he has the money to do so, but the same cannot be said of all his followers and listeners who listen to him as an authority. The government should really begin to look into this to make sure these self-styled pastors of God don’t mislead people with their unfounded conspiracies.

Football has grown to be a global phenomenon. It is no longer in doubt that the round leather game is the king of the sporting activities. The FIFA World Cup today is among the most followed sporting activity, dwarfing even the Olympics which used to own that honor.

Right before football became what it is today, history records that the game has existed in prior forms earlier.

• AZTEC Empire

According to some history texts, the Aztecs were notably among the first group of people to introduce a round rubber game which they used to play their own form of what will later become known as football today. At this time though, it is noted that no other civilization had access to rubber. However, it is alleged that the Aztec game was more ritualistic in nature due to the repercussions for the captain of the losing team in certain times.

• CHINA

China is also historically believed to be one of the pioneers of football and adopted an early form of the round leather game called “Cuju” around 206 BC. From available literature, the Chinese Cuju game didn’t allow the use of hand in a match, and was prevalent during the Han Dynasty. Cuju means ‘kick ball’.

• EPISKYROS

As they already point to, it is a Greek name. Unlike Cuju, episkyros allowed the participants to use both hands and feet for the game. Like other sporting activities of it’s time, it was also noted to be rough and violent.

•ROMAN EMPIRE

There is also reference to the Roman empire in the history of football. In some quarters, the Romans are credited to have influenced Britannica in some way through Harpastum and helped shape the future of the popular game of football we have today. Harpastum was noted to be popular among some Roman Legions.

NEW FORM AND MODERNIZATION

Modern football as we know it today has it’s origin set in England. Though it has been noted that no one individual can be said to have discovered the beautiful game, Englishman Ebenezer Morley have been mentioned in some quarters as a big pioneer in Britain. This stems from the fact that a letter he wrote will later lead to the codification of football governing laws in the United Kingdom. According to historical records, 12 club’s sent representatives to the meeting which took place on October 26, 1863.

In some texts, it is noted that there usually were two rules of playing the game. On the one hand, the rule will permit the use of both hands and feet to play the game – rugby. On the other hand, the rules simply outlawed the use of hands – football or soccer. Although there were earlier rules like the Sheffield and Cambridge football rules, the meeting will later be the beginning of codified rules for what we know today as football or soccer (USA and Canada). The rules will go on to differentiate football from rugby which also shared similarities and history with round leather kicking performed usually by a group of persons with assigned roles.

By the 1860’s, football has crossed the shores of Europe and is noted to have been carried along by British citizens and introduced in Argentina. This will later metamorphose into the South American football culture we all know today, made even better by the football rivalry between Argentina and Brazil which have produced the worlds best footballers over the years.

When FIFA was first formed 41yrs after the Football Association was formed, the United Kingdom didn’t join. However, they later joined the next year but never participated in the first world cup and subsequent ones till 1950. England will go on to win FIFA World Cup in 1960.
