All the spiritual gifts are important! They are all important for the growth and sustenance of the church. Not everyone can speak in tongues not everyone can prophesy or perform miracles! The holy spirit shares all spiritual gifts equally for the growth of the church! Corinthians 13:13 says These Three shall Remain Faith, Hope & Love but the greatest of these is Love! Love is the only spiritual gift that is a necessity

We are talking about prayer here..speaking
in tongues starrted from Acts 2:4. as i said n it is important in addition to hope,faith n love.
read if you are born again ask the holy spirit to help you speak in new tongue.it helps. If you dnt want so be it.
