She will be going alone (A hard and tough decision i must confess) leaving the me and my 5 months old baby till when things are soft for us to join her.

I don't know how easy or how soon it will be for her to send invite for us to join her.
How's life in the UK with a single mum?

Who have passed through this situation and how did you people pull through

Hi, I am currently based in the UK and I can say that Nairaland is a wrong place to seek such a life changing advice. I have read through some of the advice here and I wept.

My brother, moving over to UK with your family will be the best decision you will take. If you have the finances, apply as a dependent together with your child and travel together.

There are more jobs here than 9ja and the pay is far better than what you will get in Nigeria.

Both of you can actually manage your time very well here and still take care of your child.

NEVER MAKE THE MISTAKE OF STAYING BACK IN NIGERIA. Secure a good future for your child

Hi everyone,

Good morning.

So my mother in-law was issued a 6 months visit visa from August 2023 to February 2024 to come and nurse her daughter who gave birth in June 2023. But unfortunately due to some factors she could not travel in August, she will be coming in first week of October. During the application I stated that she will be staying for 1 month.

Currently we want her to stay till February next year before going back.

Now here comes the main concern/question, my sister in-law who's equally here in the UK will be giving birth in that same February 2024 based on the scan she did.

So my question is, if my mother in-law goes back to Nigeria in February and reapplies for visit visa to come and take care of my sister in-law, will her visa be granted?

Please help with your inputs and suggestions..

Thank you very much...

Please note: Her flight (return ticket) has been booked from October to February

Hi

Good morning all. Please if a couple applied for a visa at the same time stating that they will be traveling together, but along the line the main applicant encounters financial issues and have decided to travel to UK first before the dependant who would be coming in later, will travelling alone cause any problem?

Hello guys,
Good evening. Please I need your urgent reply.
A friend and his wife just got their visas but he shot himself in the leg by booking a flight with KLM ignorantly until I pointed it out to him that he would require a transit visa to be able to transfer when they get to Amsterdam.

Please what should he do and how does he go about securing the visa?.

He's currently down.....

Hi everyone,
Please your input is highly needed as my friend is currently battling with mental health on this issue.
My friend (student) and his wife did their biometrics yesterday and today he got this email from UKVI.
Please what does it mean and what's the best advice you can give him?

Please who else noticed this new update from ukvi application website?
I finished filling the form (dependant) and was about to make payment for IHS, I delayed and was eventually logged out. Immediately I looged in. I was presented with this page.
Remember I have passed the state of filling the application form and this just popped up. I am very confused

Yes they have.
Biometric was on 20 July and passport was ready on 28 July.

Wow, that was fast. Was it standard?

No problem, it’s a generic mail. My parents also got it a day after their biometrics.

Oh thank you...
Please if you don't mind me asking, when was the biometrics?
have they collected their passport?

I want to know the official fee in order to make sure I have the required money in my account or something above it just to be able to cover the payment

puffmama:
When you put your start and end date , you will get the right amount you are to pay . Because of the fluctuations in exchange rate , it's not advisable to just use what someone else used to avoid the issue of under or over payment .

Hello

I see you posted same on general visa thread .Keep an eye on it

As a retiree she should have her retirement/pension letter, and slips/bank statement showing that is still being paid

Her bank statement should be clear to show all she receives is her pension, if you send any upkeep highlight that on her account. If her account is messy, she should clean it up by ensuring only her pension is credited to her account going forward, you may have to wait for that to happen if this is the case (Minimum 3months of a clean bank account)

What other activities does she do at the moment as a retiree? These are the ties you are looking for

With kids/grandkids,cover letter and pictures will be useful, if she is engaged in church activities a letter from the church will useful

Since you are sponsoring the entire trip only put N1, in the section asking if she is contributing to the trip.

I'll stop here so others can add more

Cheers

By N1, you mean 1 million naira?

Thank you so much for this. It will go a long way

student to sponsor? Where did you get the money from? Hope evidence to back up origin is available and tht u didn’t work over your 20 hrs allocation. Also your mother cnt come for a. 6 months visit- that will be refused straight. Keep duration of trip short. Less than a month. She has a life to go back to and you are not trying to tell the ECO that she is coming to live in the UK. Ties to Nigeria is the key to show can return back otherwise refusal is sure.

20hrs threshold was not exceeded and it's evident on my payslip. I make reasonable amount monthly. Equally, wifey works full-time, so I don't think the source of the money is questionable.
She doesn't intend to stay more than 3 months.
Also, if you could explain things that I need to use to explain ties with Nigeria.

Thank you.

Hello all.

Good morning. Please a quick one, what are the documents required for a student to invite his/her parent of over 70 years to UK for a six months visit?
She's a retired Civil Servant earning pension of less than 50k. She has no property.

I will be sponsoring everything. I have my payslip, bank statement of about £8k (hope it's enough?), my accommodation contract

Please help put me through as I'm making the application this week...

Hello

That will be a visit visa, the general visa thread will be useful to see how people put their application together

Back to your question,it depends on who is sponsoring the trip and to what degree. Is it you or them? Are you part or fully sponsoring?

The general documents will be a copy of you BRP, passport, student status letter, birth certificate, letter of invitation, if they are staying with you then evidence of accommodation,if you are sponsoring the entire trip then bank statement, payslips etc should be included.

Their own financial and home ties will still be considered by the ECO not just yours so you will need to submit same from their end. At 70 i assume they are retired and receiving pension, do they own properties? Is there family and other kids/grandkids in Nigeria? Are they involved in church activities that will need them home?. These sorts of information/documents will be useful to include.

Check the general visa thread

No TB is required

Cheers

There are grand kids and other kids back in Nigeria ( how do I prove this?).

Is her pension of less than N50k monthly sufficient?
She's basically coming to take care of my wife who will give birth in few weeks time.

Thank you.
