Sorry o... Not trying to impress you but just clarifying myself. When you said the Officer is promoted from ... To Squadron Leader, I took it for real and tried to make sense out of it. You made me feel 'I'm not making sense'. No vex. But is the promotion for real?

Temporary promotion is often used as a mechanism for dealing with manpower shortage. It can also be used during training routines to give a good understanding/picture of real/standard situations. It is also used ceremonially, like during sword-crossing. An Officer on temporary rank is not legally confirmed with appropriate salary and perks.

A Temporary rank is one that is conferred for a Short period of time, typically for a specific task or mission or to enable maintenance of regimental discipline by allowing a Junior Officer takes on responsibilities that exceeds that which otherwise be appropriate for his substantive rank. Was taking you as a person to be for real that's why I did not categorically said you are wrong/lying, and decided to think of a possibility. Been that NAF may be 'short-staffed'.

An Air warrant Officer(AWO) was given a direct commission to a Squadron leader in the airforce last week.I saw the PT 2 ORDER.This as never happened in the history of NAF.His outstanding performance in the service changed his destiny.No Dssc Officers training,no nothing.It was direct from the CDS and CAS. wonders shall never end.

Hmm... Squadron Leader is equivalent to an Army Major. May be its a TEMPORARY promotion.

Nigerian Army has no grade specifications. Any graduate can apply. But common, if they are through with selecting those that 'Ogas at the Top' recommended, for 'competence sake', they MAY first go for those with good grades. All na 'As God Willeth' sha. But no take eye look NN or NAF o. E go be direct rear kick.

If some people talk, you will not know where to start advicing them from. How can you claim to be a graduate and think of joining the Armed Forces with SSCE. Haba!!!, na who swear give you chop? Even as a graduate, it is humilating enough to be under those young N.D.A boys. It's damn annoying to see a graduate wanting to joini RR1. For such behaviour/thoughts, you are not worth to be enrolled in any capacity into the Armed Forces. Grow up and get a life. Abeg, make nobody vex o.

Hav a friend dat was born in november 1983.....i was born in dec 1983, we were both shortlisted without knowing anyone. We will be 30 in november and december respectively. "the army said in their advert that candidates should not be more than 29 by sept 2013" i think it means dat those who were 29 when they applied, but will be 30 by sept 2013 should not apply. Guys i need clarifications especially from those that hav done the screening before. Thanks.

Future General, you have read and understood their instructions. You are within the age bracket as they stipulated. Pray and also do you best in the screening. If you have a connection, maximise it. Hope you get selected and commissioned.

If you have a standard birth certificate that can verify your age, worry not. Its the same year na.

I know a guy with HND in Biz Admin. He is short for DSSC in both. NA and NAF(I wonder how but he said he is not connected). There is still slim room for competence. You can still try, for the love(but no be say you go park dey wait for next year PIN o...lol)

gambudu: I use to believe that medical doctors and surgeons who applied for Dssc had an automatic ticket to be shortlisted.Not untill now that i saw so many people dropped.So na even if u read marketing and u applied for dssc,u can still make it as long as your Godfather is there

Mehn... Parade don change. I know about 6(or more) Drs that applied but non was shortedlisted. Almost all that applied last year got to the interview, atleast. NA see say Drs collect more dough and not of much use with the current situation. Mbok, Drs that applied, go and face your primaries or rot as a general practitioner.

Nigeria Army don chop ma money o. Felt a little bit disappointed sha. Wanted to exchange/combine needle and bullet. Destiny says no. A friend is shortlisted for both NA and NAF(Na wa o). Non of the Medical Drs I KNOW made the list. In a way to console myself, I thought, your stomach is getting big boy, you can't beat those 23years old chap in physical...lol. Make I go drink beer jare. Congrats to the shortlisted.

Gentlemen, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Admiral Ola Ibrahim said the Armed Forces will recruit additional 50,000 personell in the next few years ahead to meet up with the current security challenges in the country.

These indicates that there is a high probability of been Commissioned without runs. But guys, Armed Forces now esp. the NA is not just for the camour, pay/power and prestige. There is real hazard. Your major motivation should be to the love of Naija. Willingness/readiness to take a 'metal' in defence of Naija. Recently, some Officers were punished for exhibiting 'coward behaviour' at BH zones. God bless all prospective chaps.

ladepete: Bros to be honest..I can not tell exactly who gets this allowances asides drs that everyone knws of. Its not possible for one to know exactly how it goes in every core..I will take the pain of finding out for you from my mates that are already officers in the medical corps. For instance in my barracks, we have corpers...including doctors.the lab scientist,pharmacist,bsc nurses are paid well above the computer engineers as corpers.(Asides their allowances as corpers)if medical corpers are treated like that, how much more officers. I will find out for u, I don't want to post what I'm not sure of. The same way u'll ask ur friend how much he/she earns in a civil setting, and he will say around....bla bla. Is the same way I posted. Not like I don't know the exact amount.

Yes o...and even among the Corp Members, a Youth Corp Dr gets a better package than the other health related Corp Members. I guess such runs through Military also.

You don't only need a connection. Your connection must be connected. There is still room for merit sha. It's good to know the pay but I beleive the motivation of most people goes beyond the pay.
