Three former Head of States, Olusegun Obasanjo, Ibrahim Babangida (IBB) and Abdulsalami Abubakar were reported to have met on Monday in Minna, Niger state. This is according to a report by LEADERSHIP NEWSPAPER, which stated that the meeting which was held at the hilltop home of one of the former leader, IBB, lasted for over two hours.

Nigerian-born British heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua whose fight with Wladimir Klitschko in a Wembley blockbuster saw him rise to the IBF championship has said he is Nigeria and that eating Eba is one of the reason he is so powerful in the ring.

A source close to the presidency has  revealed that President Buhari may be battling with serious health challenges. The source who pledged anonymity revealed that  the health challenges is so critical the president was in coma for four hours before the democracy day broadcast. He was only revived by his a doctor ,who happens to be Buhari's former colleague in military and uses herbal means to cure, an hour before the broadcast. The said herbal cure became preferable to orthodox medication because the reaction of the orthodox medication puts the president in a near coma condition each time it is administered. The former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki, has not been able to enjoy the bail granted him after meeting prescribed conditions because he was rearrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) over offences he allegedly committed while serving in the Nigerian Army.

This was revealed when counsel to Dasuki, Joseph Daudu (SAN) and counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on the matter, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN) were addressing the court on a motion praying for the release of Dasuki.

Nigeria’s woes in the area of dwindling revenue from crude oil sales is expected to heighten in the next couple of days, as the South African Petroleum Industry Association, SAPIA, yesterday, stated that South Africa would likely stop importing crude oil from Nigeria following the lifting of the sanctions on Iran.
Executive Director of the SAPIA, Avhapfani Tshifularo, told journalists that the potential return of Iranian oil exports to South Africa threaten to displace barrels from Saudi Arabia and Nigeria that plugged the supply gap when sanctions were imposed on Iran, which is OPEC’s fifth biggest producer.

The Nigerian Government announced on Friday that it has scrapped the Petroleum Support Fund, also known as fuel subsidy.

Speaking to journalists at the Port Harcourt refinery where he had spent Christmas inspecting the facility, the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, said the government could no longer pay the subsidy due to the fraud tainting the scheme.

Mr. Kachikwu, who is also the Group Managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), also added that the government could no longer afford the payment due to the dip in its revenue, caused by the drop in crude oil prices.
