Politics › Rivers Poll : Tribunal Strikes Out APC's Application by PhockPhockMan(op): 4:23pm On Aug 19, 2015 |
By Ikechukwu Nnochiri ABUJA – The Rivers State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja, has declined to order the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to transfer all the materials that were used for the conduct of the April 11 governorship election in Rivers state, to Abuja for inspection.
In a ruling this morning, the Justice Muazu Pindiga-led tribunal dismissed the application which was made by the All Progressives Congress, APC, and its governorship candidate in the state, Dr. Dakuku Peterside.
APC and Peterside had in furtherance to the petition they lodged against the election victory of Governor Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, prayed the tribunal to direct INEC to relocate all the polling materials to Abuja for inspection by its legal team and forensic experts.
The materials the petitioners intend to subject to scrutiny include all ballot papers, the voters’ register that was used for the election, as well as the biometric data as captured by the Card Reader Machines that were deployed to Rivers State by INEC for the purpose of the disputed governorship poll.
However, while dismissing the application dated July 17, the tribunal held that acceding to the request by the APC would amount to varying an earlier order it made on June 11, wherein it directed the electoral body to grant the petitioners access to the election materials. The tribunal maintained that the petitioners failed to convince it on why that previous ruling should be amended to reflect that the inspection of the materials should be conducted in Abuja. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/08/rivers-poll-tribunal-refuses-to-order-inec-to-relocate-election-materials-to-abuja/ |

doctokwus: Your friend would be laughing at u for making a fool of yourself here.. For u to even bliv that recounting of votes could be done at the INEC hqts in pH while evidences from the forensic examination of the ballot papers has not even been heard by the tribunal shows how very low your reasoning capacity is. If u made this up yourself u have showed how low u reason;if trully u were given by your friend,I bet u he has seen a first class mugu in u. Cry me a river. |

ionsman: Lol. Is anybody expecting the papers not to tally with what INEC announced?
We know they have been thumb printing all these while to make the figures rhyme.
Or why has Inec/pdp been stopping Apc from inspecting the materials all these while even when there was a court order?
Abeg leave matter for matthias jare...
N.B: If this your info is actually true, Inec headquarters has a database, so no cause for alarm. .

I got this information from my friend, who is an insider in politics of Rivers state. On Going right now Inside INEC office...Port-Harcourt the Rivers State Capital. As the Rivers APC continues with the inspection of ballot papers and other election materials, it has been revealed that Dakuku Peterside may have rigged the elections in Opobo/Nkoro local government area. A total of 1,153,998 ballot papers are to be inspected by the APC. And out of the 896,546 ballot papers that have been inspected so far; the APC has confirmed 846,041 valid votes in favour of the PDP and 50,505 valid votes for the APC. The report shows that, the 50,505 votes of the APC came mostly from Opobo/Nkoro and Eleme local government areas. Recall that Gov. Wike of the PDP polled 1,029,102 votes to defeat Hon. Dakuku Peterside who polled 124,896 votes in the last governorship election in Rivers State. As at the time of filling this report, the APC is yet to inspect 257,452 ballot papers. |

OP, it's said that clear conscience fears no accusations. I know for sure that this your long story will come out to be biased if the girl in question tells her own part of the story. I'm not here to judge, but to let you know that the bond between you and her may not be the type that can be broken with mere phone call. I advise you not to listen to those wrongly advising you to dump her like rotten garbage, go to her and explain things to her face to face.

A mysterious dick pic vigilante who goes by the name of 'Wanksy' is spray-painting joysticks around potholes so that his local council has to come and fill them in. Speaking to i100.co.uk the anonymous street artist said he has been working "on and off for a couple of years" but that the problem in Ramsbottom, Greater Manchester, has "got really bad recently". On one of the photos on his Facebook page, the activist explained that one pothole had been there for eight months without being filled in but after he drew a penis on it, the pothole was fixed in less than 48 hours. However, Wanksy fears that his high output may now have ballsed-up his initial objectives, telling i100.co.uk: They don't always get filled, in fact, I think the council maybe deliberately not filling them in now. Nevertheless, support for the street artist continues to grow online, with one commenter on his Facebook page claiming: "Let's make the council realise we won't put up with the ridiculous condition of our roads." While another simply says: "Well done dude! You're my hero." http://i100.independent.co.uk/article/this-man-is-painting-joysticks-on-potholes-so-the-council-has-to-take-action--ekSuZ63mgW

Freemanan: If you follow my replies logically you will know my point. I said no sane human wants Biafra because of the evils and damage it will cause and still yet it might not even be realised after all the hullabaloo. Then I said you won't consider those that are in the struggle for Biafra less sensible because, They have a reason for this which is marginalization and Nepotism which puts them on the losing edge and also they have no role in the history of Nigeria. So its like committing suicide because you discovered a future of penury and servitude till death. The act is bad but your reasons are understandable. i believe you grab.

Politics › I Still Miss Abiola, Says IBB @ 74 by PhockPhockMan(op): 6:51pm On Aug 17, 2015 |
By Wole Mosadomi MINNA— TWENTY-TWO years after annulling the June 12, 1993 presidential elections, former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd), yesterday, said he still misses the winner of the historic polls, late Chief Moshood Abiola, who died in government detention in 1998. To show how he sorely miss his erstwhile friend, Babangida, who turned 74 today, said last week he searched for one of the letters Abiola wrote him and re-read it. Babangida spoke at an interactive session with journalists in Minna, Niger State ahead of his 74th birthday anniversary. Asked if he was missing his friend, MKO Abiola, Babangida said: “Let me see, last week, I dug out one of the letters he wrote to me and I read it. So, that shows that I still miss him.” In the engaging interview, the former military ruler also opened up on his response to the coup plot led by Major Gideon Orkar in April 1990, the Dimka coup plot in 1976, his assessment of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration and comments that he is from Oyo State instead of Niger State.
Babangida, who commended the Federal Government on its renewed offensive against the Boko Haram insurgency, also gave the government high marks in terms of performance. He said: “So far, I am confident that they are doing well. They have identified the problems and they look resolute in confronting these problems head-on and there are a lot of people in the society who are offering a lot of sound advice on what to do.” On PDP Asked how he felt as a leader of a former ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that is now in the opposition and whether the PDP could return in 2019, he said: “I think one of the good things we are experiencing in this country is that for 16 years there has been democracy and democratic practices in the country. “A lot of things must have gone wrong somewhere and the right judges are the people and the people have spoken. I think it is natural they needed a change after 16 years and they did what is right. They did not go wild, they did not fight anybody; they used their ballot papers to change the government. I think this is the beauty of what happened. “I look forward to such practices in the next 50 years of democratic practice in this country. I hope they learn from their mistakes, what they did wrong, what they did right and what they can do now to re-launch their party.” On his reaction to President Buhari’s vow to recover stolen funds from the nation’s treasury, Babangida said: “During the tenure of my boss, President Obasanjo, he had a similar strategy and to be fair to him, he made a lot of recoveries. So, we should support this present Federal Government, which is trying to do the same to achieve the same objective. If that objective is pursued reverently, I believe it will achieve some degree of stolen funds. “You talk about oil theft, I am sure President Buhari is resolute to stamp out all those and to bring to book all those who have tampered in stealing our oil.” How I escaped Orkar coup On how he escaped death during the Gideon Orkar coup, he recollected: “I can remember very well that I had some loyal officers, who were supposed to be my protectors and my bodyguards. Initially, they told me to leave but I told them no, I am not leaving anywhere but they remained steadfast and later I took my family outside Dodan Barracks and joined my guards. “So, we went out of Dodan Barracks and we went to a safe house where we got in contact with loyal troops. May God bless Sani Abacha. Sani Abacha was the Chief of Army Staff. He got in touch with me, I got in touch with him and we sat down and talked on what we were going to do. Abacha and I rallied the loyal troops and then I left my safe house and joined Abacha in his house. That was how I escaped.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/08/i-still-miss-abiola-says-ibb-74/ |
