Politics › PDP Supports Buhari's Anti-Corruption Crusade - Oliseh Metuh by PhockPhockMan(op): 3:52am On Jul 24, 2015 |
The National Publicity Secretary of the People Democratic Party, Chief Oliseh Metuh, on Thursday, said the PDP was in support of the anti-corruption crusade by the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He described corruption as a crime against the Nigerian people and the country’s constitution.
Metuh had while addressing PDP stakeholders in Lokoja on Tuesday accused Buhari of treating PDP members, especially the officials of the past administration of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan as criminals and prisoners of war because of the ongoing probes.
But speaking during the Kogi State congress election in Lokoja on Thursday, Metuh, who was the state congress chairman, said PDP was in support of any move that would check corruption in the country.
He added that the party was in support of Buhari’s anti-corruption stance.
He stated that as long as the hands of PDP members were clean, they had nothing to fear in the ongoing war against graft in the country.
The PDP spokesperson said the party would not protect any of its member found to have been corrupt.
According to him, it has become necessary for public officials to be held accountable for their actions.
Metuh, however, warned that there should be no witch-hunt and that due process and the rule of law must be adhered strictly in the probes.
He said, “Even if the PDP members are being probed, we support the probes because people are being held to account for their stewardships in office but we don’t want political lynching.” http://www.punchng.com/news/pdp-backs-buharis-probes/ |

Politics › Boko Haram Leaders Can Help Nigeria Reclaim Chibok Girls – Buhari. by PhockPhockMan(op): 6:23pm On Jul 23, 2015 |
President Muhammadu Buhari said on Wednesday in Washington that the leaders of Boko Haram could help the Nigerian Government reclaim the abducted Chibok girls through negotiations. Mr. Buhari, however, said that the government would have to establish who the real leaders of the sect were before it could enter into negotiations with the group. The President, who was answering questions from Nigerians in the diaspora in Washington, described the situation as “very sensitive” and said that the government would need to find out the condition the girls were, in view of reports that some of them had been “sold and married off”. “There are people who are claiming to be leaders of Boko Haram. They will help us to recover the Chibok girls. “But this is a very sensitive situation. Firstly, government has to establish that those claiming to be leaders of Boko Haram are indeed the leaders of Boko Haram. How do we do it – it is quite difficult. “In what conditions are they? Are they alive? Have they been kept as students? – because they are between the ages of 14 and 18. “They are 220 (in number) and they have been in captivity for 18 months. There are rumours that some of them have been sold and married off. “There are rumours that the leadership of Boko Haram had married some of them and they have already had children with them. “But, the objective of the Federal Government is clear. “We want them back alive, so that we can return them to their parents; rehabilitate them psychologically and if possible facilitate their continuing education. This is the objective of the Federal Government. “And if we can get a confirmed Boko Haram leadership, we will negotiate with them.” The President said the sect is plotting to exchange some of their leaders currently being held by the government in different security prisons in the country. He said the government was working closely with the neighbouring countries of Cameroun, Chad, and Niger toward securing the release of the girls. He applauded the Nigeria Police for their efforts at checking violent crimes such as robbery and kidnapping and praised the Anambra government for demolishing the properties of anyone found to be involved in the kidnap of innocent citizens. The President earlier met with a group of young professionals in the United States at the same venue and assured them of his government’s resolve to fight corruption, remain steadfast, and invest heavily in education. According to him, education is the panacea to poverty and ignorance among the youth. The youth in their huge numbers took turns to express their best wishes for the President and the country. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/187078-boko-haram-leaders-can-help-nigeria-reclaim-chibok-girls%E2%80%8B-%E2%80%8B-buhari.html |

Kastonkastroll: I hope these guys know we are not part of their "WE". The south east can cry from now till eternity but they should never bring the odua sons and daughters into their foolishness.
All of a sudden they realized that Nigeria was built on a shaky foundation just because their clueless benefactor lost an election. They want everybody to wail and kick with them because a Hausa/fulani(their perceived enemy) is now in power, no the Yoruba's are not stvpid neither are we silly. We know why some certain people are crying up and down and also shouting secession.
Talking about the unitary government we are running today, who was the architect of the unitary system? Who destroyed our regional system of government and imposed a very selfish system of government on us?
Was it not an iboman, aguiyi ironsi? Well only fools that never knew the history of Nigeria will take the people from the southeast any serious Trash. |

fashoo2010: Yea...u popularised people by announcing their failure Yeah, Buhari popularised Radio Biafra with his failure to ban it as boasted. Then, last week Buhari took actions that catapulted Kanu and Radio Biafra from obscurity to global attention. On Tuesday, the BBC, CNN, Al-Jazeera, VOA, Deutsche Welle, as well as all the Nigerian TV and radio stations and newspapers started reporting the news from the Ministry of Information that the National Broadcasting Commission had jammed the signals of Radio Biafra. Curiously, the radio station continued to broadcast to the people: giving itself some air of invincibility. |
