Senators and House of Representative members who failed in their re-election bids yesterday started moving their personal effects out of the National Assembly complex. The development came less than about one month to the proclamation of the eight National Assembly.

Personal effects of the lawmakers, including tables and chairs of various sizes, framed photographs, books, standing mirror, centre rug and artworks of various sizes were seen being loaded into waiting trucks by various aides.

Faces of the fleeing members of a kidnap gang that connived with an evil nanny, Funmilayo Adeyemi to abduct three Orekoya kids and oth­ers in Lagos have been unveiled. They are two brothers identified as Rasheed and Hakeem Kareem.
The nanny, who abducted three children from the Orekoya family home in Surulere area of Lagos on April 10 within 24 hours after she was employed as a housemaid, claimed that she was pushed into the act by her husband, Rasheed Kareem(above)

Funmilayo Adeyemi, mother of four and aged 35 confessed that, the family runs a kidnapping business, adding that her husband is the head of the gang. pijangonews.com learnt that the suspects, who in their early 30s, are known in their area as rich boys because of the exotic cars and choice apartment they live in. As soon as neighbours start questioning the source of their wealth, they will relocate.

The kidnap syndicate initially demanded N15 million from the Orekoyas, a ransom that was later negotiated to N13 million out of which N2 million was paid into a given bank account to bait the suspects. The chil­dren identified as Demola, 6, Adedamola, 4, and Aderomola, 11months were later dumped naked in an uncompleted building after nine days in their abductors’ custody.

She had said that the others (husband and brother-in-law) run the business side of the kidnapping and had collected N2m for the Magodo kidnap, which occurred December last year. The children were later found in Sagamu,

A United Kingdom citizen, Saheed Mohammad Cameran, aged 48, has been arrested by the operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Lagos State Police Command for defrauding seven Nigerians of about 70million naira under the pretext of supplying them diesel.

According to a police source, the suspect was arrested while trying to smuggle himself out of Nigeria through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja. Though the operatives of the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) Milverton, Ikoyi, Lagos were said to have taken over the case, the unit’s spokesperson, DSP Ngozi Isintume, said she was yet to brief about the case.

TheNation adds that the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Ken Nwosu, confirmed the transfer of the case to the SFU on Thursday.

In a gruesome case of cold blooded murder, a Nigerian ,Terry Agaga, was brutally murdered in Padova, Italy. According to Italian media, the 34 year old was killed over a woman in a black club ‘Le Parisien’ popularly called ‘Port Harcourt club’ by Nigerians.

According to eye witness, Terry, who got his Italian residence permit of stay in Sept 2014, got killed because of an argument over a girl.He was said to have fallen inlove with a girl whose previous boyfriend is a cultist.The ex-boyfriend was enraged for losing his girl to Terry .

When the scorned boyfriend met Terry at a club, they were involved in a physical fight and he ended up being stabbed to death with a machete. The Italian police are still investigating the killing of Terry and three Nigerians have been arrested so far.

The accident involved a Mercedes Benz and another car. It happened at Oworo bustop, coming from Ogudu heading towards 3rd Mainlaind bridge very early this morning. The occupants of the cars were rushed to the hospital. Hopefully, they will all survive.

The father, 43-year-old Rabiu Yusuf, told journalists, on Monday, at the Bauchi State Police Command headquarters, in Bauchi, while being paraded alongside other suspects by the police, that he tortured the boy to death due to his stubbornness.

Yusuf, who said he never knew his action would lead to the boy’s death, stated that he got infuriated with the deceased, following his running away from his house to stay with his mother, who he had divorced.

According to him, he had severally instructed the boy to return home but he refused, saying he had to go and take him home and chained him inside a room so that he would not run away.

“Trouble started when I divorced his mother and married another wife. My son, Aliyu, followed his mother to her new home and I was not in support of the arrangement.
“I called Aliyu several times to come back home because I want him to be in my custody as his father, but he refused, so I went to the mother’s home in annoyance and brought him back home.When I brought him back to my house, I chained him and locked him up inside the room, so that he did not escape and go back to his mother, but unfortunately he died,

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Haruna Mohammed, informed that Yusuf conspired with one Ismail Idris to kill the deceased.

According to the police spokesman, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Yusuf chained and detained the boy for a period of 10 days, but he later fell sick as a result of the ill-treatment meted to him by his father. He added that the boy was taken to Rimi Clinic in Bauchi, where he died while receiving treatment.

Chief Mrs Dupe Onitiri-Abiola, wife of the late politician and business mogul, Chief MKO Abiola, has emerged the Lagos State governorship standard bearer for the Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN, in the coming 2015 general elections.

She clinched the ticket as a consensus candidate on Thursday at the UPN congress/primary held at the party secretariat, Unity Road, Ikeja, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, alongside other consensus candidates for Federal House of Representatives and State House of Assembly.

In her acceptance speech, Abiola declared that she is going to be the first female governor of Lagos State as she will succeed the incumbent Governor, Babatunde Fashola.



She said that her party, UPN, founded by the late Obafemi Awolowo and resuscitated by OPC leader, Dr. Fredrick Fasheun, is prepared to take over as the ruling party in the state.

A young girl was stopped this morning from trying to kill herself in the Okaka-Epie area of Yenagoa in Bayelsa state. According to an eyewitness, the depressed girl, after fighting with her sister, drank 'sniper' (which one is sniper again?). A young boy who saw her writhing on the grass quickly called neighbours who fed her with red oil and rushed her to the hospital. She's expected to survive.

Police Command in Kano State has confirmed the death of six persons, including two female suicide bombers following a twin blast at Kantin Kwari market, Ibrahim Taiwo Road, Kano on Wednesday.

The Police Commissioner in the state, Mr Aderenle Shinaba, confirmed the figures while briefing newsmen at the scene of the incident.



He explained that the incident happened around 3:30 p.m. when the two female bombers in Hijab and wanted to enter a branch of Unity Bank near the market area.

He said that the security men attached to the bank stopped them because they saw them as people who should not have anything to do with the bank.

“They later moved away toward the market area and asked for public utility and immediately after, one of them detonated the bomb.

“Shortly after the first one was detonated, the second one went off and as a result six persons died including the bombers,” he said.

He said that seven other persons were also injured during the incident and had since been taken to hospital for treatment.

“We have also taken the dead ones including the two suicide bombers to the morgue,” the commissioner said.

The All Progressives Congress primary to pick the party’s House of Representatives candidate for Ijebu Federal constituency, turned ugly this evening in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state, as the ballot box was snatched by hoodlums at gun point, with armed policemen watching.

Indications that the election could not but end up a farce were demonstrated early, with supporters of one of the candidates challenging the two ballot papers found in the transparent ballot box. It turned out their suspicion was misplaced: the votes were cast earlier by two of the party leaders on hand to watch proceedings.

By about 4pm as voting progressed, it was getting clear that the aspirant that Governor Ibikunle Amosun wants to clinch the ticket,Olugbenga Otenuga, may not make it as the delegates appeared voting against the run of instructions, backing another aspirant, Engr. Kunle Ottun, that does not enjoy Governor Amosun’s support.

Otenuga served under Amosun as commissioner for physical planning. And Ottun was also Amosun’s special adviser.

As tension built up inside Itoro Hall, venue of the primary, the police initially fired teargas into the anxious crowd and delegates waiting outside.

Later at about 7pm, about 25 truck loads of armed policemen stormed the venue, teargassing the people who had re-assembled and effectively bringing proceedings to an end, just about the same time that gun toting hoodlums took possession of the ballot box and went away with it, without police apprehending them.

Apart from Otenuga and Ottun, the other contestants are: Kehinde Odeneye, the incumbent occupier of the seat, Kolapo Korede Osunsanya,Jubril Adewale, Omoba Ademola Okulaja.
