Believe it or not, the villagers of Hokse, Nepal, are so poor that they’re forced to sell their own organs in order to make ends meet. The practice is so common there that the place has been nicknamed ‘Kidney Village’.

Oddity Central reports that organ brokers regularly visit the village and its surrounding areas and convince cash-strapped locals to part with one of their healthy kidneys. These agents are notorious for tricking innocent villagers into traveling to Southern India to have their operations.
They cook up all sorts of tales, telling the poor villagers that humans only need one kidney for survival or that the organ, once removed, will grow back!

Not all organ traffickers are kind enough to wait for the villagers’ consent. Sometimes victims are kidnapped and forced to undergo operations. Or, they may be duped into believing that they need some other kind of operation, and the kidney is removed without their knowledge. Some victims are even murdered for both their kidneys. The ‘harvested’ organs are sold to wealthy recipients for up to six times the amount that the donor receives.

There is currently tension in the Niger Delta following the news of the planned meeting of the leaders of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND). The meeting is being convened by MEND leader, Government Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo, and is slated to hold at the Izon House in the capital of Bayelsa State, Yenagoa on Saturday, July 25. A letter made available to newsmen, reads:

“My dearly beloved Commanders and Leaders of various wings of the Movement of the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), I greet you all. It is my pleasure to humbly invite you to a very crucial and urgent meeting as follows: Venue: Izon House, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. Date (of the meeting is) Saturday, July 25th. Time (is) 2 pm Prompt.”

The sitting of the Plateau state House of Assembly was on Thursday disrupted when lawmakers physically attacked each other before the commencement of the session.

Journalists covering the assembly, as well as staff of the assembly, were sent out of the chambers before the fight started.
A source said most members argued over the content of the day’s “order paper”.

According to the source, the Speaker, Peter Azi, who represents Jos north west, had insisted that the first item on the “order paper” should be the reading of a letter from the governor, Simon Lalong, nominating transition committee chairmen for local government councils.

The argument that followed soon resulted in physical clashes that lasted for about 15 minutes before security personnel intervened. Chairs of the chambers were destroyed by the irate lawmakers.

No member of the assembly spoke with journalists on the matter, therefore, the main reason for the fight could not be ascertained.
Another source said members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had walked out when the speaker, Mr. Azi, attempted to read the letter from the governor.

The governor, Mr. Lalong, recently sacked the chairpersons of the 17 local government areas of the state ahead of the expiration of their terms in February 2017.

Councillors from the 17 council areas who were also sacked alongside their chairmen were beaten at the assembly complex on Wednesday, when PDP and APC supporters clashed over the dissolution.

The armed robbers actually set the car they came with on fire then ran into the bush, unfortunately for them they couldn't make it out of the layout before the police came. It's extremely wrong but I kinda understand the 'wicked step-mother' ish, but when you do it to your own child, it's more puzzling. According to a eyewitness, who sent in the report and story, the mother of this child, brutally attacked her this morning at their home in Benin because according to her, she was slow to get ready for school.

The eyewitness, who is a neighbour to the mother and child, said she constantly maltreats her children, two girls and a boy aged 8, 6 and 5 and beats them with wire, wood, rod etc. The neighbours went to rescue this girl after hearing her shouts for help this morning. They want the children rescued from the woman. Their father is reportedly in prison.
