With the new German student visa portal, you can actually join the waiting list even if you don’t yet have all the required documents (such as your admission letter, blocked account confirmation, or sponsorship letter).

🔹 How it works:
1. Fill in the application form on the portal to the best of your knowledge.
2. When you reach the section for uploading documents, simply upload a short PDF note stating that the specific document is not yet available.
3. Repeat this step for every document you don’t currently have.
4. Once completed, you will successfully be added to the waiting list.

🔹 Why this is possible:
When it’s your turn to submit your application, the embassy gives you 30 days to update your file. During this period, you can:
• Edit your information
• Delete placeholder uploads
• Upload the correct, finalized documents

Essentially, you’ll be able to “re-fill” your application and provide everything properly at that stage.

⚠️ Key Advice:
This flexibility means you don’t need all documents in hand to join the waiting list. However, you must plan carefully: keep track of how long the queue might take, and use the waiting period to secure your admission letter, blocked account, sponsorship letter, and other required documents. That way, when the embassy notifies you to submit, you’ll be fully ready within the 30-day window.

I'm on 2 other groups, a telegram and a WhatsApp group. So I get the updates from there.
I also got my date today.

Appointment dates were given today, up till November 13th (the latest I've heard) some scheduled on 16th September some on thr 23rd.

By you haven't gotten a positive response do you mean that they refused to reschedule or they didn't respond?

Everything is listed on the embassy website. Once you have all the necessary documents, you register on the consular services portal.

I applied since June last year and haven't gotten any reply from the embassy. I just received my admission letter last week and I'm a bit confised on what to do. Can I write or send an email to the embassy for rescheduling?

They haven't even finished giving appointments to thise who applied in 2023. They won't give you an appointment of you write them an email. You just wait.

The waiting time on the portal is calculated based on how many applications have been submitted. It flunctuates and isn't always accurate.

On a side note, I have discovered that booking in the new portal now gets closer appointment than in time past. I think that the embassy is trying to correct the long waiting time.

No, this link is supposed to be for Category A students, people have just been sharing it saying you can get an appointment through it. It says clearly in the email that you are to bring he documents requested on the consular services portal. You're supposed to use this link after you've booked on the portal, had your documents verified and been told to book an appointment. They havent started attending to Category B on the portal at all. They link your application to the application on the consular services portal right there during the interview. If you go with an appointment from thr link, you'll be told you've booked under the wrong Category, it has happened to people already. The waiting list from the old portal is still valid.

Go with your complete documents or reschedule, its not worth that risk at all. They aren't interviewing people without complete documents.

For maths, the questions will probably be basic stuff, you can expect questions in economics too I guess.

No specific question, just know everything you filled by heart. Name of the school you are going to, location, course of study, why did you choose that school, is the course not offered in Nigeria? Why Germany. Name of German chancellor and president. Cities etc. Lastly note that the decision to grant your visa is not from the consulate here in Lagos but in German after your documents has been gone through and verified. So make sure you submit the right documents and pray.

They no longer send documents to the foreign office in Germany for decisions, they are made here.

Honestly I'm not sure, two people who went through the process had to get letters stating that they could make up their courses later, something like that, but their courses had started much earlier (like a few months), compared to yours, so I'm mot exactly sure how it would be in your case. Perhaps someone else could confirm what you should do.

I want to know, is it okay to make payment for the enrolment, health insurance now before the visa interview. I am asking because my interview date is same as my resumption week. Knowing that I will miss my resumption date. Please, what do I do?

I think you need a letter stating you can join later, like a late arrival letter.

What do you mean by 'mife'? And by applied do you mean you've registered for an appointment or you've done the interview and are waiting for a response?
